I apologise if I'm out of line here. I love all your work and have downloaded as many as I could find. But I was wondering why with the 47s you weren't using the JT version with the headlight? Not a criticism just curiousity. I couldn't do what you do, I don't have the patience.
Hi Marc, it's a choice I question myself about quite a lot. Ideally I would use a base loco that was appropriate, but there is a dilemma. My preferred Livery Editor is TSW3, which has a superior control system in my opinion, and for which I have a good assortment of decals and shapes, including the BR arrow, which is essential for many of my liveries. However, TSW3 does not have the JT 47. I have used both TSW 4 and TSW5 Livery Editors for some stock, but they are not my go-to choice. Also, liveries made from TSW3 are available to more subscribers than those made for the other 2 newer versions. I'm aware that not everyone has an up to date version of the game. Another thing, the game is full of compromises. For example, the only available class 37 to relivery is a refurbished version, but it has not stopped me turning out 37/0s. And headlights are not the only issue with the 37s. I appreciate your support for my repaints, and hope you are enjoying the Scottish "collection". I have done some repaints using JT 47s, they are a future collection perhaps... Regards, Dave. P.S. Search PD7 for all my creations.
That's awesome and really detailed thank you very much. Also yeah I'm loving the Scottish collection as well. Bringing back so much nostalgia.
The IS stag collection is almost complete and then it's the turn of Eastfields Scottie Dog. Or Westie. Or whatever. I've had to improvise a grid to build the doggy as it's a pain to get the proportions just right. The dog is one thing, the shading is quite another!
47550 'University of Dundee' received a Blue roof to its Large Logo livery. There were a few locos received this variation, including 47118 and 50010 and I thought it was very pleasing to the eye.
47637 received ScotRail red Stripe livery and the 'Highland Rail' Stag emblem, along with an orange stripe at cantrail level. The headcode panel retained its split colours (correct for InterCity livery, but a bit unusual for Scottish locos, which often received Black headcodes)
47642 'Strathisla' in ScotRail red stripe livery, complete with 'Highland Rail' Stag emblem, orange cantrail stripe and Black headcode panels. The loco was named in September 1986, after the oldest Whiskey distillery in Northern Scotland. Yummy!
A couple of oddities that I had forgotten about: 47586 in a hybrid Large Logo livery without the large logo or large numbers! But it did carry the Inverness 'Highland Rail' Stag emblem for a while.
37146 in hybrid Large Logo (without the large logo) but with Inverness 'Highland Rail' Stag emblem, black headcoed panels and Blue roof. I only saw this loco later in life when the Stag emblem had been removed and often wondered where its livery originated from. Now I know!
That concludes my foray into the world of Inverness TMD's Highland Stag emblem. So with the Haymarket Castle, Motherwell's Salmon and Inverness' Stag done, there is only Eastfield's Scottie Dog to produce. I need to replicate the emblem on 4 classes - 08, 20, 37 and 47. So far I have done the 08 and produced 4 examples (there may be more if I can find pictures) and I'm about halfway with the Class 20. I've started both the 37 (about 1/3 of the way and 47 (preliminary set-up), but they will take some time. As I complete them, examples will be uploaded...
How to build a Scottie Dog. The current stages for the Class 47, 37 and 08. (Class 20 is similar to the 37) The grid helps with the proportions, but I had already done the 37 body shape before implementing it, so the grid has had to be 'adjusted'! I'm happy with the finished product on the 08. Notice the layer count on the 08!
The Scottie Dog is doing my head in! I may be some time... In the meantime, here are a couple more Motherwell 37s I missed earlier. 37137 with ML Salmon. 37137 later became 37312, which I repainted some time ago. Do NOT put these 2 side by side or there could be some kind of cosmic distruption to the Space-time Continuum!!
With the Scottie dogs taking so long to produce and my 'mojo' wavering, I've decided to complement the creation of said doggies with my next project - Preserved Loco Collections. A while ago I started to upload a few BR locos as they currently appear in preservation and this will be accelerated, but under a 'Theme'. Each Heritage railway will be looked at one at a time, with any relevant locos modelled. I was hoping to call the Theme after the Heritage Railway as a 'Collection', eg: the 'NYMR Collection' or the 'SVR Collection', but the word Collection is too long for the Creators Club Title and I've chosen to call it a 'Team'. So, first up will be 'Team NYMR'. This will include the 08s, 37264, 47077, a couple of Class 101s and Black 5 5428 and J27 65894. Those locos previously uploaded will be updated if needed and renamed into the 'Team' theme. I will continue to work on the Scottish locos, but with less stress!
Hi Dave, Might your "wavering mojo" be revived by me letting you know that I'm starting to play with Peak Forest? Pretty soon you'll be able to "play" with long freights modern and 'old'. I know that floats your boat Plus we can have a look at getting some formations together that showcase a number of your 5 plank wagons in the same rake? Message me direct and let me know what you would prefer.......Modern or BR Green & Steam and I'll see what I can do
Team NYMR begins with a selection of already uploaded locos, now rebranded as 'Team NYMR' on the CC. Search for Team NYMR or PD7 08556
The final one to upload is 101680 'Daisy', but I need to construct the BR emblem for this, so may be a while.
You may notice the title of this thread has changed to reflect the creation of liveries rather than scenarios. Although I have done scenarios in the past, I find them extremely difficult to do and time consuming, and I have found I cannot upload any with my formations! A couple of things to upload - a generic ScotRail red stripe Class 47 and a wagon. 47643 received ScotRail red stripe livery in the 1980s but as far as I am aware it did not receive any depot emblem.
Neill & Brown PWA wagon. I thought I'd done really well getting this wagon produced, but when I put it in the game, I realised the wagon is built to a far bigger loading gauge to the British one and towers over a UK diesel loco! So my suggestion is to use it as a scenic asset, lurking somewhere in a freight yard!
The second Scottie Dog is finished! So I can now add Class 20s to the 08s I've previously prepared. These will start to appear on the CC shortly. Doggie No. 3 is next, on a Class 37, with plenty of candidates for that and then its the Class 47s.
With the Class 37 'Scottie Dog' taking sometime to gestate (!), I've added a few more assets to the Team collections. Team KWVR (Keighley & Worth Valley Railway) ... 08993 'Ashburnham'. The shunter was rebuilt in 1985 which involved taking several inches from the roof and cab! Of course this cannot be replicated in TSW, but the wonderful livery embellishments make this model worthwhile.
Jubilee 45596 'Bahamas'. In BR lined Green, a favourite loco for many people. The position of the nameplate is sadly a compromise.
A brief interlude for National Power. NP purchased 6 Class 59s in the late 1980s, along with a batch of hopper wagons. 59203 'Vale of Pickering' represents the small class here, along with a shiny new NP wagon.
