Hi. Just wanted to share some ideas on which routes are, in my opinion, still worth playing on a Gen 8 console. - SEHS Extended would be the obvious choice with so much variety and lots of DLCs. Unfortunately, there is this layering issue that, depending on what train you drive, other trains just disappear. - NTP and TVL run nice and smooth, but the scenery is a little dated. There is not much going on, even if you have BR heavy freight, the 31 and the 20. - West Somerset Railroad after the remaster runs great, but it is not everyone's cup of tea. It is slow and a very special experience. - So, my current favourite on Gen 8 is MML, after the patches, with some add-ons. In particular the Cargo Line Packs CLA and CLP make this a quite busy and interesting route with no significant performance issues. What are your thoughts. What do you think is great on Gen 8?
- Birmingham Cross City runs well and has no performance issues even with all the freight/RHTT and Railtour layers on - Island Line 2022 is absolutely spectacular on 8th gen with no issues at all - East Coastway with/without the 313 runs Awesome on the 8th gen with no performance issues - West Cornwall Local runs beautifully with no performance issues at all - Cathcart Circle with/without the 380 runs really well on the 8th gen as well only making the fans work at the emud when it's absolutely full of 380's
Nice to try out if many UK layers are already in the library. London Overground Suffragette Line - Feedback Thread
I was mistaken. I thought GWE would be a nice route to run on PS4. But, alas, the Bakerloo 72 stock is gone (nobody knows where) and the Military timetable services do not show up. Annoying, so I do not want it.
I haven't run the TSW SIM much lately, but what I found was the Blackpool Branches route runs slightly better on TSW4. When TSW5 first appeared the Blackpool Branches ran ok, then blue screen crashes started happening near Preston mostly, and Blackpool. So I went back to TSW4, it's a shame the bugs spoil the enjoyment of the game. I've had some good runs on some routes, but the SIM on PS4/PRO at least seems too temperamental. I agree about the TVL and WSR, the SEHS was buggy last time I tried that route. ECML doesn't like any train that tries to arrive at Doncaster.
True. BPO, TVL, 31, 20, NTP, BR Heavy Freight, and West Cornwall are a quite decent combination on TSW 4. On TSW 5, the 31 services in particular lead to a lot of crashes.
The CLv4 Military services are only playable using the DBC Class 66 from the pack. For some stupid reason no other class 66 will substitute. They should show up on your TT if you select the "Cargo Line Military" class 66 from the variant list
I always had problems coming into Doncaster on the PS4 pro, there are a lot of static class 43's at the Doncaster works. Honestly turning off the static EMT layer can help
Blackpool Branches is an Insta-Crash any time you go near Preston. Unfortunately I have (and likely a lot of others too) reported it over and over and unfortunately it just doesn't seem to be getting sorted. It's a shame because Blackpool Branches is a real nice route.
Sufferagette Line/Goblin Line is an excellent suggestion and has a looooot of freight with the layers too
That is my problem. The Military 66 does not show up in loco selector. Do you see it on PS4? Is there also a Military layer in layer selector on GWE? I have nothing of this. Only the three scenarios.
I can't speak specifically to PS5, but my ancient PC runs pretty much all TSW2 routes without a hitch (except at Munchen Hbf). TSW3 is a mixed bag - Midland Mainline runs well, Linke Rheinstrecke is pretty marginal. TSW 4-5 routes are mostly a heavy load, although oddly Bernina runs smoothly.
That is true. I hardly dare say it, but I was even considering playing Sand Patch Grade and Köln-Aachen on TSW 2 (in words: two) because it is running extremely smoothly. That was until I found out that the 185 from Main-Spessart-Bahn has a nasty little PZB glitch (limits to PZB U even if you choose PZB M). Apart from that, I have the opinion that the game was puttling less load on the machine. at that time
Actually, what I mean is that in TSW5, routes released for TSW2 run well- probably because they simply don't have the asset/texture density of later routes. I don't have any earlier iterations of the game installed.
Sorry for the delay in response, timezones lol. I had to set the PS4 back up to check and no, the CLv4 Military services aren't showing up for me either on GWE. I can't see the DBC 66 CL Military in the list of selectable 66s. Weird. I'm going to try and uninstall everything and have only Shap/GWE and the CLv4 to see if this is another case like the SEHS. Admittedly I have since upgraded to a PS5 and haven't used the PS4 very much except for some YouTube stuff.
This is actually a really good point, the older TOD routes do work *better* on the 8th gen than somemofnthe newer ones. I found keeping external cam shots close to the train and away from Diesel exhaust fumes helps as well.
Thanks a lot for checking! Much appreciated! I have since filed a ticket and the DTG guys are looking into this.
With only Shap, GWE and the CLv1, v2 and v4 installed I'm not seeing the DBC 66 for CLv4 but do see the other two EWS 66 from v1/2. I tried to do a third go round with only the GWE and CL packs but got a crash when loading TSW and gave up, I apologise. I'm going to report it as well and it's good to hear DTG are onto it. I'm sure itone sorted out on the first round of patches for CLv4.
I get a little bit of stutter around Blackpool North if the yard is on the fuller side and Preston can be a little hitchy the first run or two but otherwise good. I've not had any crashes or anything drastic
