I would like to suggest adding the Class 91 "Intercity 225" into the game. This is a much requested loco, with a strong element of nostalgia for many members including myself. I would recommend adding it in the current LNER Oxblood Livery, and including nameplates are a must. DTG has had the license from LNER for the class 801, so hopefully a licence can be acquired for this (if it is not already held) before these iconic locos are all withdrawn from service and scrapped. (Source https://www.lner.co.uk/news/new-liv...y-225-fleet-as-part-of-essential-maintenance/) The Loco Electric locomotive built by BREL and GEC, introduced in the 1980s Capable of speeds of up to 140 mph, but currently limited to 125 mph in service Has an epic sounding loud tri-tone horn Has 3 cabs - including a 'blunt end' which frankly just looks kind of cool: (Source https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/blunt-end-first-on-class-91.175256/&psig=AOvVaw1WVQAS9tYNYQIQzzAj0SNn&ust=1749346905158000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBgQ3YkBahcKEwi4-MSbl96NAxUAAAAAHQAAAAAQBA) Applicable Routes The loco could layer onto: The existing DON -> PBO route My recommended NCL -> YRK route (https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/newcastle-to-york-modern.91908/) The PBO -> KGX route I am yet to recommend
Cannot support this enough! I hope those 897s (or whatever they are) take absolutely ages to construct, test and commission…being CAF-built, we live in hope!
LNER seems to be showcasing them on their YouTube of late. I wonder if that is because a certain sim developer has been nosing around too.. and if not, then surely it’s a brilliant opportunity to do so!
Fingers crossed! At one point there seemed to be sentiment on here that LNER wanted to focus on the Azuma with the 91s being old. While I recognise they may have wanted the Azuma in first, with the celebrations around 22.05.2025 (their aptly named ‘225 day’) I hope they are more prepared for the 91 to make an appearance!
I can’t see DTG building more of the ECML at this point, so if the 225 made an appearance, it would likely be for the current PBO-DON stretch. Not a major problem for me, although I always thought an extension to KX would be excellent…with 387 and 700 layers!
I feel like if the core can be sorted, KGX to PBO would be a good one to do. Allows route hopping at multiple points, a mix of express and commuter services, capacity to include the Hertford loop and/or Moorgate lines for a semi-network style experience, and of course contains a big terminus station. I’ll cover this more in the suggestion when I get around to making it - but you’re right in that it may not come for now I guess
Day one purchase for me if this was made. As already mentioned, a hugely requested loco. I really hope the requests are taken onboard.
The only drawback with this particular traction is that 50% of your time will be spent driving from the DVT but otherwise pretty much essential to round out the ECML in its current iteration. Though my first choice would still be a Deltic!
True, but we don’t have any UK DVT stock for TSW. At least it would add some variety and make the driving experience a little different to standard loco-hauled. Fully endorse the inclusion of a Deltic!
I fully endorse this suggestion. It will finish off the ECML, as they have all the prerequisites such as licensing etc. I think the azuma is lonely atm too :p
the driving experience in the DVT is still fun imo as you’ve got the unique running sound of the SIG bogies as well as the scary horn to contend with :0
LNER did a cool video recently showing a lot of the start up procedure that is ideal source material:
I suppose we don't know what LNER's licence for DTG permits (it could just cover the 801 and branding like the water machines etc.), but I do hope that behind the scenes there are efforts being made towards getting this loco in the game Will have to take a look, this looks cool - thank you
LNER have been really pushing the class 91 lately, getting it in tsw would be a good way to top it off
My thoughts exactly . I hoped it may be a surprise that appeared on 22nd May this year (LNER’s self designated ‘225 day’) - but alas, it did not
Class 91 with route extended to Darlington for the Rail 200 celebrations. Deltic as the deluxe additional loco. That would be a LAMPOIL ticker.
I suppose the thing is Darlington isn’t really a great end point either. Really it’s Newcastle or York. That said, I would take anything at this point haha
Oh I agree, the sinuous section on to Newcastle is more interesting. The dilemma for DTG is that extending to York and/or Leeds isn't really far enough. But Newcastle too far. Anyhow probably a forlorn hope as what we get for TSW 2025 will be something totally different.
