It would be nice to see the South Eastern High Speed route extended from Rochester to London Victoria. This would feel a lot more realistic as trains wouldn't terminate at Rochester as they (technically) do now and would add a lot more to the route as we would now have 2 London termini on the route.
It's already been said, many times, there won't be anything new for this route. Anything else in this area would be brand new, rather than an extension (again) of what already exists.
I think the SEHS is probably one of the best routes in the game, it has a good variety of services if you buy the dlcs. I think an extension to Victoria should be done because we already have Victoria there in the game and you can link up to Gatwick and Brighton. I suppose there are 4 main questions. 1. Is it possible, technically? 2. Would DTG want to do it? 3. Who pays for it? 4. Would the community want it? 1. SEHS is already a pretty large route and it already got an extension, so could more be added to it? 2. DTG are very worried about extensions, Matt said on one live stream it is hard to charge for an extension to an already existing route. I am guessing they are worried that people won't pay for the extension as it is part of an existing route that people could think it probably should have come with that extension in the first place? 3. Who pays for the extension? TSW is like a mixed bag of sweets/candy not everyone is going like everything, people will have their favourites, but money still changes hands. However, for an extension on a single route, not everyone will want it as they don't like or want the route, some will think it should have come with the route..as in free, others will want a discount and then you have players who want it and buy it when it comes out. All of this has to pay for bums on seats at DTG, a route extension could take 4 to 6 months, if not longer maybe? 4. Who in the community would want the extension? I don't play US routes, so if DTG done an extension to a US route I wouldn't be interested and same can apply to a UK route and there maybe players who play UK routes, but don't like SEHS? I think if DTG done like a deposit system, you pay £10 to vote for a viable route extension and that would give DTG the financial figures to warrant creating the route extension. Then when the extension comes out you pay £20 and it is yours, if it doesn't come out you get your deposit back.
I'm amazed this route is still missing from tsw tbh. Maybe the TSC version just didn't sell well enough?
When the addition of Ashford International was introduced to SEHS, I was hoping it would have included a route around to Dover Priory, but sadly it was not to be. I had suggested a DLC in the past whereby Ashford International was the central station and you could go to Dover Priory, Sandwich, Eastbourne via Marshlink or at least Hastings, Canterbury, Margate, Ramsgate, Deal and even Tonbridge.
Sounds like a good idea, have it as a stand alone route and you could route hop in Ashford international to swap betweet Dover and St Pancras. I think DTG want to create a variety of routes, not just based in one area, that was another point raised, but still be good. I have said this before there needs to be a major hub that serveral routes join up to, Paddington, Victoria, Euston...which ever.
As much as I'd like this.... I wouldn't want it in present day. Go back a few decades and you had regular scrap trains running in and out of the steel mill, also the odd nuclear waste moving thru Ridham dock. And the good old 4cep of course.
