Now that DTG have airbus, can we have the airbus fly into Gatwick rather than that dodgy airline that flys badly made airplane?
Everybody is jumping on the remaster band wagon and yes it would be nice to have, but didn't they have problems getting this route to work? So, remastering might not be straight forward as replacing....
Really don't care. It's a "oh that's neat" and you drive by. If this were Flight Simulator World then the brand of airplane might matter.
So why did DTG go to all the effort of securing a license off Airbus to use their planes in a "train simulator"?
Ask them. Could be Airbus asked them for all we know. Regardless, I simply said I don't care. Not that you care or not.
I think the BML should be rebuilt from the ground up. Despite it being one of mu favourite routes to drive, the scenery just isn't up to par, as well as the planes at LGW. Optimisation is also needed so the class 700 can be added to the route.
Optimisation was a problem with this route, it struggled for a long time with frame rates. It is a large route, I am not sure adding more could be done without some really good optimisation and I dont think DTG are there yet?
I would like to see the old aircraft replaced regardless of whether it comes with a remaster or not. The brand doesn't particularly matter, but the old aircraft look ridiculous. I guess it is also why DTG stopped at the a321 and the a350. They could've gone for every aircraft from the Cessna 150 to the Sikorsky S-76, but they didn't because it wasn't a flight simulator. They did say that making an aircraft that looks like an aircraft did invite some problems with aircraft manufacturers which is why they had to make the planes look weird.
Yeah, but planes tend to be a generic shape, GTA has planes that look like, but not exactly like real planes. They use the cut and shut, front of an F16, back of an F18 sort of.
Yeah unfortunately that's the thing holding the BML back. You'd like to think that route building techniques have improved to the point where newer routes are better optimised, but sadly that isn't the case. Funnily enough BML gives admirable performance compared to WCML South, a route released years later.
DTG thought so too, so before TSW was even in planning they used to have generic aircraft, but they had to change them after being threatened by manufacturers.
It is a bit like trying to get a car go faster, you either try to optimise performance or you rely on a large engine and in this case more powerful PCs or consoles. One is an easy/cheap way of doing it and the other involves investment and DTG are getting to the point where hardware can no long help, so they have to invest or find ways to squeeze more out of machines and one of the ways is to look at wasted memory that is being used for things that are not required.
I think it’s got to come down to priorities, I purchased a Train Simulator not a Flight Sim. I’d rather DTG spent the limited resources they have on trains and trackside assets rather than creating accurate models of air planes and ensuring flight paths are accurate.
Seeing your post makes me realise how little DTG think of London Commuter. Easily one of the top three London routes in the game and it’s been left to rot. I can’t even play this route anymore because the lighting is so terrible, well for console anyways.
Sure it wasn't the best for a long while, the frame rates where bad, maybe a remaster might help, but I think DTG struggled to fix this route then WCML came along.
The little details count for little yes It's all relative. When prioritized though... the big details (like correct horn sounds for example) would count much more.
They're not the correct horn sounds. Not sure what else to add to that. No clue where they came from, but they're not correct. It's a well documented issue if you wanna do a search.
As it currently stands there are no scheduled A350 flights to Gatwick so that's a moot point. If you are on PC and can download mods, the BML enhancement pack replaces the default aircraft with an easyJet A320 NEO.
There's also an A300 modeled at Innsbruck airport, but that probably isn't much better. They could always model some more planes, although anything is better than that weird soviet looking thing that's there currently.
Yeah, but there certainly is no scheduled flight of what ever the hell is currently flying there, so point stands!
Yes, but if something happened in train simulator that doesn't happen in real life you would complain because it is not real to life, neither is that plane. The train simulator simulates trains, their environment they travel in, items such as other vehicles such as planes are added to improve and bring your experience to life, if it wasn't important DTG wouldn't have bothered putting it in there in the first place. Now, you might consider it a low priority sure, but it still should be addressed, I am sure it will be fix in TSW6 anyway
