Microsoft is working on next gen xbox consoles (gen 10) now since tsw is heavily dependent on ram or memory i think the memory should be around 32 gb. yes dtg trying there best to optimize tsw but it can only go so far. from the video the next gen xbox will be on amd ryzen ai chip and have laties graphic with fdr 4. i hope dtg is looking in to that for future improvement i think tsw7. maybe the fdr for consoles will cut down the memory issue and burry texture and what ever bugs that alot of people are having in that area for this game. yes there still be alot of optimization in unreal still going on at that time. if Microsoft put in 32 gb of ram it be split for system ram and video ram 16 gb each. will see what happens down road.
All the rumors have been saying this is a 2027 project at the earliest, this really doesn't help DTG's current or near term situation. And even in medium term not everyone's gonna buy the next console overnight. you still really need to have the game optimized for current gen machines. That's what people are gonna be mainly playing the game on for the next three or fours years, honestly maybe even longer for all we know. More on the console itself alot of the moves they're making with this might sound great, but are probably gonna make this a expensive console. You're not getting "the most powerful console of the generation" that has the flexibility of a PC without paying horrifically close to PC's of the same spec by other companies. The reason Microsoft and other companies can choose to make consoles lose-leaders is because they're selling you into a ecosystem of similar spec machines that they can sell in mass that are all gonna make money for them down the line as Microsoft sells more games on its marketplace. Them allowing you do use other stores might be great, but that's gonna come at a literal cost to compensate for lost revenue. As much as people may find it restrictive there there is genuine cost reasons all the console makers settled on "Our console, our marketplace". Even beyond that Xbox Series X type system by its nature isn't gonna be as mass produced, because frankly as much visual obsessed dominate discussions, most people don't care about that. Most people just want to play the games, they don't nessicairly care about things like frame-rates and resolutions, if you do you're apart of what marketers would call the core 20%. The more casual 80% don't care that much, they want a "good enough" machine that can run what they want, huge reason why consoles like PlayStation 2 & Wii did so well, and the reason DVD has stuck around for such a long time. Add to that the need to increasing pricing that I mentioned prior and I really question if this is even gonna be a "mass market" product, or if it's gonna be something more on the niche side like a Steam Deck.
Speaking of, right now you can build a PC with PS5 Pro-equivalent performance for around £100 more than the console, thanks to the 9060 XT.
