Not just the usual "remaster" with lighting and such. The route is pretty good and all, but with new timetable being released for other routes... they could fix the few bugs in the route (ethanol scenario, etc) The bigger update would be adding a commuter service to it, as was originally planned. Combined routes with both like MBTA tend to do pretty well. The TSW focus has shifted to commuters over time, so this would make it more palatable for more people who aren't big on freight. Not sure if there's issues with the GO Transit license or ViaRail, but even an unbranded similar color livery would be fine. The stations are already there just asking to be used. In addition, it opens the way for more layers and future DLC. There's plenty of US freight locos that could run there as layers, and this would be a great chance to add a new diesel AMTRAK loco because in real life they roll down that route between Niagara Falls, Torono, and headed west from there. Whatever loco is used (a few would fit from that era, but we already have variants of the F40PH in game), it would fit on several other routes as well that should by rights have Amtrak on them since those trains do run on them irl. (Horseshoe Curve for example, Sherman Hill, etc) Not perfectly matched since they were retired in the 2000s, but for this era they'd be perfect and close enough they'd work in other places. The existing route already has arguably the best modeled North American locos on it (amazing sounds compared to the rest) and a wide variety of freight and shunting. It has a nice network to it in addition to lost of sidings and actual timetable and scenarios that are interesting and more fleshed out than most "freight" routes. Adding the commuter side and more DLC with layers would be a potential boon to sales and exposure at very little cost. The Baby Bullet is in game. The F40 is in game. Later Amtrak locos (Genesis) would be great for use on other routes. The route doesn't need to be extended like SEHS, but if you need more landmarks and such, it could easily be expanded a few miles up the lakeshore to Toronto which is a major city with tons of possibilities. The route is already fine in that it's not super long, but deep (as I said, more of a network of stations plus dock industries) but just saying it COULD be extended if people NEED something totally new and more landmark worthy. That of course opens a whole new city network for Toronto more akin to the London routes being produced in TSW and linked to them by "jump points" as those routes are too. The LIRR and SEHS were reworked to add more content there, so it's a possibility. A few changes could produce a much more well rounded result.
What I'm proposing is more than the mod and would be a paid pack, not just a "free" remaster they'd have to do on their own. There's enough in the game to add and make money on that it'd be worth it to do it "on the clock."
+1 to the suggestion. It is kind of a guilty pleasure route. In an ideal world it would be reworked all the way from Toronto Union to Niagara Falls which would definitely tick some LAMPOIL factors. Just one caveat, please sort out those tank loading scenarios where you have to sit for 20 minutes doing nothing. Either time skip or, albeit unrealistically, have the driver/engineer getting up on the catwalk and doing the loading themselves, as the first of those scenarios actually did.
Yeah I'd be good with cab controls or something on the ground to make it not as cumbersome and buggy. That's when it's working. Often it doesn't and you get something like a fuel line stuck 10 meters underground or something. Just make it more like he coal or aggregate loading/unloading. It is a "comfort route" like that bad carnival food you enjoy but feels bad for you. It's a fun little route, but there's so much "ewwwwww" built up by the community few want to admit they like it. =-)
