Modern CPUs are not "dual"....think in larger multiples of cores (not processors), your 7800 has 8 cores for example.
However, it does work on modern processors utilising a single core of those processors. The warning pertains to multi-core processors operating at a clock speed of less than 4GHz...
How many cores are tried to be used is decided by Windows, just use Task Manager's Performance Manager routines to see how many threads and core are utilised when running TS. Most games are predominantly a single main core with peripheral routines farmed out as "helper threads" which run on other cores.
I think you need to read the article again, and stop spreading incorrect information. Nowhere does it say the game will NOT work on a modern processor. You just need a processor with strong single core performance. The article says you will not get the full benefits of modern, multi-core processors. 2 completely different things. Any decent processor with a good single core clock speed (and yours is) is fine for TSC. Your issues of low fps is down to something on your system. I was simply trying to help you figure out what the issue may be. You may not feel confident in exploring what the issue is and thats fine. We are all different. If I had spent money on a new PC, I would want to make sure I am getting the most from it. Modern hardware will not be the reason TSC ceases to exist.

Train Simulator is a very CPU intensive game due to the amount of AI and physics calculations going on in the background. Due to this game being over 15 years old, it cannot fully utilize modern hardware. When the game was made, CPUs were getting higher clock speed to make them faster. However, since that time there has been little improvement to clock speed, as manufactures have instead focused on increasing the amount of CPU cores. Unfortunately, Train Simulator is a single-threaded game and cannot make use of multiple CPU cores. This will be a significant limiting factor for your frame rate, and changing your graphical settings will have little impact on your performance. The only way to improve performance is to use a CPU with good single threaded performance and a high base clock speed (4 GHz+) The only conclusion from the above, and what I have experienced on my own new PC with TSC, is that TSC wont work on a modern PC that have dual processors (which alot now do!)
Which is the incorrect conclusion. Your processor has a base clock speed of 4.2 GHz, offering great (though not exceptional) single-core performance. Something else in your rig's setup is holding back TSC. My 5800X3D, with a slower clock speed, still runs TSC okay when I'm not overexerting it and getting out-of-memory (OOM) errors. My processor's base speed is a whole 1 GHz less powerful than yours.
What is more interesting is why is TSC better than TSW with respect to frame rate drop (at least that is my experience along with many other users unhappy)
TSW5 is horribly optimised it seems, though yesterday’s patch brings a glimmer of hope. I know that my old potato PC I7 4770 running at 3.5Ghz and accompanied by a 4Gb GTX1650 does very nicely on TSC. The only route that stutters is the Tokyo suburban line but I suspect that has its own particular issues.
Once again, nowhere does it say it will NOT work. Not fully utilize, is not the same as it will not work. DTG are simply lowering expectations for people who upgrade their PC components. You keep harping on about dual processors. Dual core processors were available before TSC came along. Modern games & software thrive on multi core processors to balance the load and bring EXTRA performance. They are programmed to utilize this extra power. TSC is not, and cannot utilise these extra cores, so you get no extra performance. That does not mean it stops working, it simply uses only one of the available CPU cores. My I5 cpu is 6 core, and has a single core clock speed much slower than your 7800, and yet TSC runs fine. My I3 dual core cpu actually has a faster single core clock speed than my I5. Guess what, that also runs TSC fine. You have a CPU that is capable of that !! Absolute nonsense, as many, many TSC players can prove. The only sensible conclusion is that something else is causing your lack of performance in TSC. If you don't want any help finding a solution, that's fine, but telling people that a modern PC will not run TSC is factually incorrect and unhelpful.
My experience is to just get a nice big SSD and only put your stuff there. I have a 2TB for TSC and a 4TB for TSW (expecting future purchases if they ever get their act together). Everything else is on other drives. CPU can certainly slow things down. Good example is the menus. Memory access whilst playing to load in the next section of track and assets will also have an impact, hence why I have several distinct drives on my rig. Respectfully
Check your AA settings. Reducing them can improve performance. Balance between performance and quality.
I was able to put AA and everything else all the way up at its highest. What changed? I know what changed. Nvidia Drivers. There has been nothing but problems with the drivers for the same amount of time that I have been seeing bad performance in TSC. And the bad performance is NOT just in TS Classic, its in other 3d Accelerated apps and games as well (like Cyberpunk 2077, 3ds Max and all those). Including something I am developing myself, And what i am developing, does stuff with Vulkan, and I did notice a performance change for the worst even in that since January. Its a driver problem. I will roll back my Nvidia driver version to a December one, and report back. EDIT: No good, no use, Still the same. This is deliberate just to annoy and agravate. I am done with this Lost cause now. I have more important things to do than deal with a group of mean people that hate me. Its a hardware problem, and I think people know that. GOOD FOR YOU. Enjoy your superiority.
There is nothing wrong with Nvidia latest drivers. I always run the latest drivers and have no problem with any of my games. Probably it is third party addons and other stuff which makes people have problems.
I rolled back the Drivers. It helps nothing. No such luck. I bet that makes many on here really happy. Anyway, I am done with this. I got better things to do.
