Head back to 1984 or bring history to the 21st Century with TSG's BR 194 / E94 Railtour Pack, out now! Approximate release times: 1000 BST PlayStation & Xbox, 1600 BST Epic Games, 1800 BST Steam on Tuesday 24th June Please note that this add-on will be released on Gen 9 (Xbox Series S|X & PS5) and PC platforms only. Rolling Stock DRG BR 194 locomotive & E94 088 The pack brings two more variants of this iconic style of locomotive to German route Add-ons, following the inclusion of the ÖBB 1020 in the Mittenwaldbahn route Add-on. Differences can be seen both inside and out, with the DRG variant seen in a plain dark green livery, rather than the ÖBB red. The roof and windows, but also components like cooling pipes, vents, and lights, also have visual differences. In the cab, the technology is visibly dated with less electrical components and switches, a shorter instrument display and even an older style of telephone! A summary list of changes includes: Air System Modifications Train Brake Valves Indusi i54 Different Pantographs Different Lamp Systems Various cosmetic changes Changes to the Overload system Weaker Electric Brake Originally built in 1943, E94 088 received major modifications in 1970 to become an ÖBB 1020 and continued service until 1994. After an extensive restoration, it was brought back to operational condition in 2013 and is now proudly maintained by EZW. Today, it still runs on both rail tours and regular services whenever an additional locomotive is needed. Developing the Add-on was done with invaluable support of the Elektrische Zugförderung Württemberg, who will also receive a portion of the proceeds from this pack. Coaches & Wagons Including in the pack are ageing pre-war passenger coaches: “Umbauwagen” plus Gbs, Es50 and Falns freight wagons. Timetable services and additional gameplay New 1984 Linke Rheinstrecke Timetable Players with the Linke Rheinstrecke route Add-on will be able to make use of a new 1984 timetable that is unlocked with the BR 194 loco Add-on. This timetable is best experienced with a full complement of period locomotives and stock which are layered in from other Train Sim World Add-ons. These are: Linke Rheinstrecke Mittenwaldbahn Niddertalbahn DB BR 218 loco Add-on The 1984 timetable will have a small number of additional playable services over the original timetable, set in 1997. However, there will be a significant increase in AI traffic with hundreds of additional AI services visible at both ends of the route. Unique special services will be included, as well as local freight and repositioning movements. Long distance traffic will feature courtesy of content from the Mittenwaldbahn route Add-on. This increase in services means that some trains will have to wait for others! There have also been a number of general improvements made to the Linke Rheinstrecke route, mainly focussed on scenery and water textures. The DB BR 218 received a new livery in a recent patch that can be used in this timetable or via Free Roam. We’ll share more news on this in the relevant Patch Notes. E94 Complete Layering Bundle: This content is available in the form of the E94 Complete Layering Bundle, available on Steam from 1800 BST on release day. Railtour services on Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn Unlock the Mastery Scenery Tile in Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn and use Free Roam to host the E94 in this engine shed, as depict here. For a more contemporary experience, the E94 088 can be operated as rail tour services in two Scenarios for the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn route. Timetabled rail tour services are planned to be added to the route in the future. Scenarios and Free Roam Two Scenarios will be playable on both Linke Rheinstrecke and Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn. Players can also make use of Free Roam and Scenario Planner to run custom rail tour services across any route in their collection. In real life, the locomotive has been seen hauling more contemporary stock such as Dostos and has been throughout Germany during its time in preservation. Worth a try but pls fix the free roam route path for Frankfurt s-bahn because the route path keep taking me off the route in free roam using Xbox series s.
Where is the E94 in the PS5 DLC? Is it just well hidden, or is it the good old "get half, pay for the whole thing!" thing?
In terms of playable content, the E94 only exists on two scenarios on Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim, no timetable services on either route, you have to use free roam for anything else.
Okay, thanks! I watched videos from our ambassadors yesterday, which offered a completely different insight into the menu selection. But they're also on the PC. ...
Could someone explain the differences in the two models included? And how they relate to the 1020 on the Mitternwaldbahn? They're three different variants?
Dont have pictures currently at hand, but they are all different 1020 you know from Mittenwald and is a rebuilt pre war 194 to austrian standarts the included E94 088 is a former 1020 and you notice big similarities in the cab, although it is not the same. E94 088 is a modern Railtour loco and kinda a mix of 1020 and 194, featuring PZB 90 instead of Indusi, and mode modern or rebuildt elements like GSMR. The 194 is the original Bundebahn loco with a much older cab design and the three part windows instead of the two you get in the 1020 (and E94 088)
Okay, so 194 base is oldest, 1020 is modernized most and the 088 is the railtour model. Are there any mechanical differences beyond the cosmetic? Different traction motors or brakes or anything? Just looking at what to expect with different driving.
Off the top of my head - Rheostatic breaking is weaker - Air breaks operate differently - Pantograph system is different - One Indusi mode
PS5 I can't get past the Selector forward step in E94 Introduction, it just won't jump to the next step..I've tried it three times and still the same....am I doing something wrong?
Waaaait a second. So the bundle on Steam for the E94 does not even contain the DLC itself and costs 125 Euro. Add to that the 25 Euro of the E94 pack and you have yourself 150 Euro just to enjoy a timetable fully. Looking with what I have it still comes up to 100 Euro to complete my collection. Its a sad day for me, TSG creates amazing content and is worth the price, but this is a huge price to be able to enjoy the full timetable for LFR. Let's see what discounts the Steam Summer sale brings. Really wanted to get this, but the bundle config makes me pass, yes its exhaustive, but it costs more than two AAA games. Dont' get me wrong the price for the pack itself is well worth for what it adds in terms of rolling stock, and that it supports the preservation
Just curious as all the pre publicity is a bit vague… How many Timetable services does the E94 (and the new coaches) get on LFR, or is it just the Railtour scenarios? How much does it feature in Journey mode for the new timetable? Not having the Ludwig route, kind of concerned about the amount of built in gameplay it has. Not really wanting to invest in something if the only way to get the most out of it is Free Roam or Scenario Editor as is being indicated.
I'd like to know this as well! Anybody who has bought it could you share number of playable BR194 services on the new LFR timetable?
I get what you're saying but i'm guessing many people already own 1 or more of the other DLCs. The bundle is just a good way to organize them in the Steam store so you can easily buy the ones you're missing.
It would be great to have a breakdown of what loco has how many services in the new timetable. I am intrested in what the 218 adds extra, are there more 628 services, and how many services need Mittelwaldbahn for the 111 and the coaches. From the stream I understood that the n-Wagen services are covered by the LFR stock with replacements only from Mittenwaldbahn.
All you're missing is some extra AI stock that's not at all necessary to "enjoy" the pack. That's "additional value" not "required." You're essentially blaming TSG for including more value, and basically saying it's THEIR FAULT that you have to buy other peoples' content to use it. That's... an odd circuitous argument that if followed would mean that companies SHOULDN'T add more layers to their products in the future. It's a bit like saying "since my car was sold with a CD player, then if I don't have all the CDs I want to play in it, it's the car maker's fault for tempting me with that CD player!" You can play the pack fine without owning ALL that stuff. It's just there for people that have some of it and want to know what else could layer into it. Feel free to not buy it... just like you don't need to buy all the CDs your CD player "could" play in theory. Just curious... what would your "solution" be to "fix" that "problem" (that doesn't exist?) I know the easiest route to avoid complaining would be just to not include any layers then people can't whine they "have to buy more stuff" Is that really the message we want to send to developers? To do the bare minimum and don't feature layers to increase value?
I am not missing some extra AI, I am missing playable services from the backdated timetable. Yes, I am getting all that the E94 pack promises and what the host route, in this case LFR offers. I am not blaming TSG for that, the price is totally okay for 2 versions of the loco and 3 different wagons, from which two are completely new. Their work is awesome and I am happy to pay for that if the timetable is also enjoyable enough with just the base route stock. I am having a problem with the promised "Bundle" which does not include the E94 pack itself, and includes a route that I would never be intrested in for 2 scenarios. The main selling point was the backdated timetable, the "intresting" services shown off on stream, the more busy areas which to noones surprise will need the extra DLC for layers. So I think it is fair to ask at least for a service count breakdown for what each DLC itself adds to judge if that we consider enough for our investment. If they gave the timetable for LFR for free everyone could decide for themselves on what they need. Even with TSG quality it might not be worth buying the pack it if the amount of services is too low without owning some of the layers and you travel an empty route with the shiny new (old) train with great physics and realism. It is definitely a purchase for me, but not a day one purchase as it stands
As a few people have asked and I own the route... The E94 has ZERO timetable services anywhere, just 2 scenarios on Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim. The 194 has 64 timetable services on Linke Rheinstrecke, all freight with a lot of different service lengths. In addition to the existing Linke Rheinstrecke stock you also get 9 services for the 218 and 10 for the 365 for those that own them. There are then 2 scenarios for the 194 on that route. The 194 does not appear anywhere other than Linke Rheinstrecke.
Reading the feedback thread and seeing basic issues that shouldn't have made it past testing. Charging a premium for a glorified gameplay pack and not getting the basics right. So glad I didn't waste £20 on this. P.S. I am surprised by the lack of QC, TSG are normally quality in that regard.
Could you maybe post the layers selection list? I wonder if the IC needs the Mittelwaldbahn stock or works with the LFR one. On stream and in screenshots we have the confirmation the n-Wagen do work, but what about the 111 and 103 services. From the manual on Steam the IC coaches are linked definitely to Mittenwaldbahn only.
Sadly for me looks like this is going to be one for a sale later in the year. I know it wouldn’t have been strictly prototypical but it would have been nice to see the Krokodil and new coaching stock deployed on some of the local/stopping services. Just using on freight seems a bit limited. Also again, out of curiosity, do the new coaches feature on any passenger services in the timetable?
Thanks for that, so looks like just the Railtours then which if you haven't got the Ludwigsbahn means you won't experience them. Sad to say, seems this pack is a rare fail from TSG in terms of likely player satisfaction. Seems to me the E94/194 and the new coaches should have got their own small branch line route to run up and down on, while as already mentioned a better coaching stock set for 1984 LfR would have been a rake of UIC Am232/Bm232 or similar vehicles.
This is the first product l haven’t bought so far for TSW, mainly because l didn’t see much in the steam for me to splash out £20 from my pension, when l am wanting MAC next week. It seems from some of the reviews so far, l was right, unless someone can convince me otherwise!
Gotta say, that's a big disappointment for me too. Especially since the B4yg looks very well done, and will be criminally underused unless someone ends up putting them in a mod timetable. Back in the 70's and 80's it was not unheard of to see them behind a 194 every now and then (OK, that's the 3-axle variant and a 193 instead of a 194, but it counts): Image from www.bahnbilder.de
That's really disappointing. They look quite nice but why in the world aren't they in timetable mode? I'll never use/see them as it stands. TSG usually does a great job with
Well I will be keeping my £20 back for the JT Class 86 pack, hopefully soon, as we already know that will be integrated into the timetable along with the Mark 2 coffins and the buffet car. With the latest patch addressing many of the performance and sound issues with the 87 that WCMLoS had, the route is basically now the Boss of TSW and my money awaits.
PS5 While driving with 194 and two other 194 locos, I encountered an oncoming passenger train consisting of n-cars and at the end were two new green Umbauwagen cars.
7506 Wagon shunt, 7506, E2025 wagon shunt, 7529 Wagon Shunt, and 7529 contain Umbaus, although I grant you only 2 of them. Probably needs more utilisation...
Nice to have another route for the BR 218. Mains Hbf looks nicer now, far more traffic now. If you have all the required layers already (was my case), I recommend it.
I haven't been able to use my 218 with this pack. Kind of a disappointment. No E94 shows up either. Checked both timetables on Linke Rheinstrecke and the Training Depot. The 218 shows up as normal on the 5 routes it can go on, but not the new ones for the pack and no new livery either. The 194 is a fun change of pace though.
Guess you need also Mittenwaldbahn, the service I did was a short run as an Eilzug, in which I was pulling the silberling from Mittenwald. Did not check the services for the freight trains, but maybe wagons are also from Mittenwald.
In the late 60s- early 70s they were all over the place on local services, only slowly being displaced by the shiny new Silberlinge
...they look really well done, even if the PC version probably uses pre-made (mod) decals. It's also nice to see a different lower body color.
The game has been translated into several languages. The last two Cargo Line and this BR194/E94 are not; all text, scenearios, descriptions... appear only in English.
No decals; everything from the DB Kekse to the smoking signs was done by hand. And all those bloody frame markings Muff’s logo pack has never included DBB, so I have to reconstruct the cookie every time
...all the more respect from my side for the great work! You only realize how many hours of work went into it once you've tried it yourself.
DTG: Can someone please confirm that both DLCs, Mittenwaldbahn AND 218, are necessary to play the 218 services in the 1984 timetable?
I know it’s been said before but there really needs to be a running list/sheet of all the layers in TSW, so we’re not piecing together articles to figure out what routes and rolling stock we need. If this already exists and is kept up to date it should probably be pinned somewhere where it’s highly visible tbh Or ideally there’s something in game that tells you what routes layer onto the route you’ve selected… put the routes you don’t own in red text or something
https://train-sim-world.fandom.com/wiki/Layers_and_substitutions That's updated regularly. Not immediately, but regularly. (After a month after a release or so usually) It may not cover ALL layer dependencies though. Still it's what I generally check.
