Now, I am used to getting some stutters from time to time as a long-time TSW player, but: 1) It has gotten almost constant, not just on the busier or less optimised routes 2) occasionally accompanied by stuttering/split second interruptions in sound 3) now also happening in similar fashion in other games, like Crew Motorsport etc My guesses: 1) GPU issue, maybe overheating 2) HDD issue, maybe on its way to failure 3) sth else I can't identify My hottest guess - sth happening to HDD... running some classic defrag on it (showing almost 40% fragmentation when it started), so when I get back from work (still running), will see how much it helped or not Any other guesses?
A stuck Windows update can drag down performance as it repeatedly downloads, tries to install, fails then repeats the process ad infinitum without popping up any warning to the owner/user there is a problem. I had this on my PC and it was only after a bit of Googling and some fairly advanced maintenance (sfc scannow then DISM with a mounted iso) that I was able to repair/replace enough damaged files which then unlocked the process and allowed the update to run and complete. No more constantly spinning C drive and Windows background processes dragging down performance. This was Win 10 though presumably same thing can kick off on Win 11.
my win 10 is on an SSD, and as far as I checked the Event Viewer, updates went through... will see how everything behaves in next couple days/weeks... will play Elden Ring and stuff like that in the meantime... also, found this: https://www.alza.sk/alzapc-gamebox-...za-pc_c_9195966__AZgbpi7r57ta3_~171622398384~ fairly nice machine for almost same price as my old PC way back, but of course with much newer and better internals... so I am thinking of ditching this one to my parents or sell it to someone and just get a new PC
