Pretty much as the title suggests.

Has the Just Trains 86/2 been delayed, we were getting plenty of promotional material from DTG and JT for months, screenshots and even a first look video.

We then get a coming soon article that has the price but no release date, since then...nothing.

Not a sniff of information from either DTG or Just Trains.

Has the DLC been delayed? Postponed? Worst case scenario, cancelled?

Would be nice if someone from either DTG or JT informed us.

Probably they want to make a surprise for the celebration of Rail 200

Still seems odd not to say why it's delayed, unless in house or inter developer squabbling. Or maybe performance concerns pending some core improvements.

I‘m hoping the 86 comes out following some core improvements early next month. Alex mentioned in the last roadmap stream that the Köln-Aachen timetable is coming soon to PS5 in a patch due early July. My theory (and wish) that this patch also includes these core fixes. That in turn could perhaps also explain the delay in the Class 86. But that could just be wishful thinking, and probably is :D

Mid-late July is the likely release window, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it arrived early August tbh

It's possible they will want to release the timetable update for Blackpool at the same time, with the 86 on AI trains arriving and departing at Preston.

Almost a week now and despite Jamie saying an announcement was due soon.

    Nothing.

    That's my thinking.
Any keener to get it now that the 87's performance has improved?

Oh 100%, based on my experience of Shap since the patch it is running far better and smoother. Day One. Just wish they would get a move on and set the release date.

I think it's best to assume it's never coming, ever. Set your expectations low and then things can only get better.

They wouldn't have made an article saying it was close to release if it was never coming...

Perhaps they decided at the last minute to throw in a bonus Mark 3 sleeping car. That is the one thing that will continue to grate, a bit. Overnight services were not formed of Mark 3 day coaches. They were Mark 3 sleepers with an assorted mix of Mark 2 aircon and non aircon vehicles plus the odd BG.

Maybe they are working on rail tours for other routes and maybe we will get another version of the class 86

Maybe it hasn't been delayed at all. They've said there will be more news "soon". I'd say that "soon" is relative, it could mean a week, it could mean a month. All those wondering where the announcement is a week later may be a little premature.

If I were to guess they probably found a bug last minute and they have to fix it and go through the QA cycle again

I was thinking this as well. Can’t remember which subclass it is but I know one of them is freight oriented, when it was revealed the 86 would only be on passengers services I think quite a few people were disappointed, maybe they’ve added some more gameplay in the form of freight

Class 86/4 I think is the main freight one but I think it was done by other subclasses

Whatever it is, surely to god it's time for an update from JT or DTG. If it's good news, something extra then share with your eagerly awaiting customers. Other wise I think we can be forgiven for feeling the wall of silence following the "release" announcement is because something went wrong and they're frightened to come out and say what.

I wouldn’t be surprised if DTG are the reason why it hasn’t came out yet, they probably realised that they don’t have much for July so they are spacing it out.
Could also be due to what happened with the whales and Dutch, routes where people complained about them being released close together, and well in this case it would be the E94/ br 194 and class 86 which are both highly looked forward to addons,
This is all just my theory

It's called " whetting your appetite ". There'll be a buying frenzy on release day if this thread is anything to go by. ;).

Actually, my guess is that JT just want some space around its launch.

I would consider reinstalling it for that, right now my next buy is the AP 87 pack as I already have the AP86 pack. Hundreds of name and livery combos. TSW needs a massive kick up the playability and rolling stock quota. Still no speedlink wagons, cargowaggons, OTAs etc. The time it takes to produce stuff is not healthy for the state of it. I'm sure I am not the only one who thinks this way.

Things change. I remember DTG articles about the forthcoming TSC Stanier Tank Engine from Meshtools, complete with multiple screenshots. I was very excited about it. It never came and neither did anything else from Meshtools.

I'm not saying JT are about to fold, but with any announced product it's best to assume it doesn't exist, until it does.

l think this is very much the reason. Same happened to the Manchester Airport Commuter, which has been delayed for some time, now arriving next week. I estimate in middle of July.

Really hope they also add a class 86/4 as there is a lot of freight missing from parts specifically harrendale and a specific wagon in game but not in the route that is missing from some very long workings.

I would like to hope that JT are remodeling the Mk3 TRFB cars to give them parity with the upcoming Mk1 RMB cars. Wishful thinking out of the way, it is likely something went wrong last minute. Due to JT being proud of their quality, they probably preferred to kick the proverbial can down the road to ensure a quality release.

We are all used to a release pace from DTG that is akin to McDonalds hamburgers coming off the assembly line... JT I think takes a bit longer with their stuff and I am happy to wait if it means quality is there.

Another possibility is that JT have taken the decision to hold back the Class 86 etc. and integrate instead with their next route DLC, particularly if that is another section of 80’s WCML. Again, a couple of sentences from JT or DTG could put our minds at rest as regards what is going on. The silence is not helping!

Don’t worry. Vern, I’m in holiday soon and JT always release stuff just after I’ve left and don’t have any access to a PC. I predict sometime between the 15th and 27th July.

Coming up for two weeks now and nothing.

If it's been delayed for whatever reason, just say. It's our money you're wanting at the end of the day.

This kind of speculation is obviously not based on anything meaningful, if you ask me. Wild West speculation. I’d rather it takes a bit longer than be released as a half-finished product full of bugs. In my opinion, it’s a good development that this add-on is taking more time, instead of chasing money and forgetting about quality. Knowing JT, they prioritize quality, so I’m not worried it will come as announced.

I'd imagine logically it will be the next announced DLC, and if so the announcement would be in the next week or so...

Failing that, there is the very small likelihood it'll be released alongside JTs next route considering the general DT Direct is usually scheduled around next month. But I doubt that's the case at this moment in time as the article has already been released for it.

Believe me I hope it’s not wild speculation but when you’ve been around these games and developers as long as I have you get a sixth sense. The key point here is why go to the trouble of publishing a release article including the price, but then… nothing. If it was a simple quality or production issue or waiting for a time slot, then why doesn’t someone from JT or DTG come on and say so.

Anyhow benefit of the doubt pending next weeks Roadmap but if it doesn’t get a confirmed release date, sorry but I smell a rat (not the Class 25 sort either).

It’s definitely strange how quiet it is. I agree with you on that. I’m sure people are following along, but they’re deliberately not giving any reason. That’s fine by me, it’ll come eventually. With a new game update/version on the way, the summer might be empty anyway, so if it takes a bit longer, at least there’ll be something to do during the summer ;)

I do wonder if it’s been shifted from being a separate DLC to the main loco for whatever JT’s next route is.

As I said earlier, but got a bit flambed for it, that is a logical possibility particularly if the next WCML instalment expected in a few months. But in the name of all that is good, tell people and change the Roadmap.

I wrote that you really can’t assume that without any evidence. As long as it hasn’t been confirmed… On the contrary, there’s even a "coming soon" announcement, so this theory isn’t based on anything except being an “idea.” I don’t mean this in an angry way at all, but I prefer to stick to the facts as they currently stand. :)

I could just randomly claim, “Hey, this add-on is never coming out JT has quit and is switching to Subway Sim…” It’s just an idea, but not really backed up by any evidence, right?

I didn’t assume that to be the case, I simply speculated this as an explanation for its apparent disappearance. Which is surely the purpose of this thread.

Sadly this thread has fallen victim to the “Yourviewsareinvalidandonlymyopinioncounts” ism, rather than a sensible and reasonable debate and maybe, just maybe, motivating someone from JT JT Benedict or DTG DTG Alex to pop their head round the door and set our minds at rest.

If DTG or JT announced that the 86 is delayed due to some last minute technical issues, I would actually be perfectly happy with that, knowing that they are taking the time to ensure a quality product is released. If only the same could be said of some other recent releases. However, it’s not fair on the community to keep us in the dark like this when it so close to release.

I totally agree with that last part! Not reporting anything now leads to such nonsense theories that have nothing to do with the facts. I would also like to call on JT and/or DTG to be transparent.
