Hello. Another train suggestion I'm a keen fan of today- and that is the Class 180. An infamous train I know, but still a pillar of our UK rail network. It could easily be layered onto GWRs Remaster, or it could be that it is included into Hull Trains routes when they are added. Liveries could be FGW/GWR and Hull trains. Its manula should just be links to a bunch of the on youtube mike tyreman training vids/YTPs.
Great suggestion. I have been requesting the Class 180 for a long time now. Seems to me that there is every reason to add these now even if unbranded. Please give us some DLCs for GWE.
Hope so too so we can recreate the Class 180 you'll be going nowhere stuff and I hope there is an option to make Paul our driver/the train manager
Would love to see a 180. Very good looking too in the first dynamic lines livery. I could see it on GWE or on ECML since it was only a few years ago Hull trains withdrew them and Grand Central operate them to this day as previously mentioned
I feel that the original FGW livery is best imo (can't remember it's name). Reason I mention Hull trains is because it ties in with a route suggestion I've made of 2016 era Hull to Doncaster
Now would be the ideal time to build the Class 180 with the GWE remaster on its way. This would add a little more variety to the express services out of Paddington. This could also include (debranded if necessary) the Grand Central version for extra AI on ECML until such a time we get a suitable section to drive them.
This class was a regular performer during the 2015 period as a alternative to the HST on fast and semi fast services. Immensely noticeable in its absence.
The faults don't need to be replicated, just a working representation. They were often to be seen on the line during 2015 supplementing the HSTs on fast services and are noticeably absent. We are all aware that they were far from perfect but should still be included for completeness and variety.
or even York - Sunderland & Newcastle + the Tyne & Wear Metro branch between Newcastle & Sunderland so you get a loop line
With a new license for GWR, as well as the GWE remaster inbound, could it be the perfect time to create a Class 180 dlc to supplement HST services and throw in variety. Matt P did state that he is fond of variety and anything that provides it during last nights roadmap stream. However it is better to walk the walk, rather than talk the talk. If making such statements, it is wise to demonstrate with the content by adding variety with dlc.
???? The 180’s did have some reliability issues under GWR and were a bit short on seating accommodation when deployed on longer distance services such as Paddington to Swansea. But they were the mainstay of the North Cotswold Line services for several years and certainly preferable to festering from Oxford to Malvern or Hereford on a 165 or 166.
Vern, that 'You'll be going nowhere' is now basically a meme in its own right ripped directly from First group's training video for the Class 180
I wasn’t aware of that Rob hence why I didn’t get the cryptic reference! The few times I travelled on them (and got a seat) the experience wasn’t too bad, pleasant engine sound not too intrusive but enough for those of us who appreciate a bit of thrash to know when it was under power. And from my Control TRC experience, yes definitely a pain. When they did sit down generally only another 180 could assist them but if, as likely, a weird electrical or brake fault coupling up would just transmit the fault to the other set too. Quite often you needed to send a fitter to site to try and get the thing fit enough to limp to the next station thence the nearest loop or siding.
What if DTG could get ahold of him and have him voice the tutorial for the 180? Would make for a great easter egg/in-joke!
like many older machines which werent really that great from driving and/or riding standpoint but nostalgia works wonders... like, I prefer this: over this: but sometimes ppl prefer older stuff... well, to each their own
In any case, this class is obvious in its absence on GWE (and the Grand Central examples to a lesser extent on ECML). It is just one of many missing UK classes that every developer seems to ignore as a potential dlc across multiple UK routes. I too have been lucky enough to travel on one a few years ago from York to King's Cross with GC. Totally agree with OldVern, also had no issues.
