in the case of cardiff and wcmls it seems it was the opposite rivet created the dlcs and (because it had a really bad reputation) it was up to dtg to optimize them as much as possible (which still wasn't enough in the case of wcmls) and release them under its own name instead of rivet's name (wich has a bad reputation)
Not quite, they were just hoping people wouldn't notice it was Rivet. The live stream for Cardiff Commuter proved that when Matt was hesitant to name Rivet as helping make the route.
To immediately debunk this… DTG is the publisher of the game, not Rivet. The discussion about whether Rivet has any involvement is completely irrelevant! DLCs are a different story.
It's relevant. Rivet have a bad reputation when it comes to their work. Players knowing if Rivet have any involvement in something will impact their decision to purchase a DLC or avoid it.
marcsharp2 That has nothing to do with who the publisher is? It's more the content itself if you ask me. And DTG owns the game not Rivet so that's separate. So, based on previous experience, JT will never be included in a new TSW as a product
DTG are responsible for allowing a DLC to be released, if they know a route is full of bugs or broken or not in a fit state and still release it, that's on them and Rivet. So it's still relevant.
No its not! sorry that has really nothing to do with the strange ideas that JT would incorporate the class 86 in TSW6 I believe because that is what this whole question was about.... Everything else is secondary
Nope, read it again. Someone mentioned that the 86 could feature in a core route for TSW6 release and done by Just Trains. The rebuke was that only DTG do core routes for a release of a new TSW. Hence the "ask Rivet about that one" because we now know Rivet did most of the work and the timetable for WCML south. That was confirmed after the disastrous livestream of the route and the disastrous launch. So it's feasible that other third parties such as JT can work on core routes for a new TSW game.
What ever..... I will leave this useless discussion! You will not understand my point... Fine but its for me a bit silly.... Edit: What I could imagine is that someday (perhaps with TSW6) there will be a true product collaboration for the base game, but that would, of course, be officially acknowledged. That’s completely different from Rivet’s involvement in the WCML route, which has never been officially confirmed through any official channels. Collaborations with third parties are very normal and happen frequently, but the credits truly go to the product owner. With the Alan Thompson route, Syhook was also involved to assist them, but they’re not listed in the credits either.
Anyhow, back on topic - despite my invitation (ping) yesterday to both JT and DTG to share some information to assuage the concerns and rumour mill, they have continued to maintain the wall of silence. Not even a bland! “Don’t worry folks, it’s coming very soon.”
How much sooner is "very very soon" than "very soon"? And what was your source for this very, or is it very, very, detailed update?
Thank you, I don’t know what these guys are debating. I don’t care when it releases. The devlogs have been keeping me hyped. Day 1 purchase from me.
Ah yes, probably coined by the “Sinister Fat Controller” himself, the very much missed Barney (RIP). Anyhow at least we got a response even if it didn’t tell us much, but JT are aware of our concerns. Let’s hope the update is indeed good news and it won’t be too long before we can thrash the 86 and enjoy the congenial surrounds of the RMB buffet car. Hey, one last conspiracy theory - maybe the buffet counter had to go back for a rework to remove references to Harp Lager and McEwan’s Export!
So not "very very soon", or even just "very soon". Back to a basic "soon" whatever that means? We really need a 'Soon' scale graphic so we all know where we are.
The Class 86 featured in the roadmap: 0-3months release April - NO May - YES June - YES So, although the DLC has gained a certain amount of positive hype, justly so since it's from JT, it's not actually outside the window of expectation.
Yeah but they could have gotten round that by a subtle shift in letters to Burp lager and McSpewans export!
I think it's more the case that reference to alcohol or tobacco in the game would breach the PEGI 3 rating. Anyhow good news on the stream must be getting close.
That was exactly what I mentioned, it will come as announced and all that nonsense with TSW6 is pure fear mongering...
All the information and dates for upcoming previews that you can expect.... https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/class-86-release-date
They just confirmed the Class 86 (& Coaches pack) release as the 15th July 2025 10am on the psn & xbox 4pm on steam & epic
Fantastic news. And to repeat my slightly doctored Alien quote from the other thread, “Buy Class 86 DLC. Priority One. All other DLC’s rescinded. Steam Wallet funds spendable.”
Hi all, If anyone has not noticed also i will be holding a developer preview ahead of the DTG stream on the Just Trains Youtube Channel this Monday at 8pm UK Time. Best regards, Tom
Fantastic, Tom. Will you have a pork pie, Mr Kipling Apple Pie and MaxPax tea/coffee by your workstation...
