Hello I am a small passionate developer from India. Here is something I have plans to export in TSW. I hope you will enjoy.
I'm unfamiliar with Indian Railways and this style of locomotive so I can't speak past initial impressions of this model. It looks great; really well done so far! Are you planing a route for this or just the locomotive? I'm interested to hear about your plans with this.
This locomotive is based on Broad Gauge and this particular model is Golden Jubliee Celebration Locomotive from Diesel Loco Works, Varanasi, India. Please see more here - http://irfca.org/apps/locos/show/13126 There is currently no plans for a route.
Well it's an impressive looking piece of equipment. I would love to be able to take it out on the tracks one day!
This one is GE based, see the link. https://www.getransportation.com/ge...ut-indian-railways-freshly-painted-locomotive The above were EMDs.
I mean... he just said he doesn't plan on doing any routes, just 1 locomotive. However, I wonder where it will run without a route in India?
And yet still no Indian route 7 years later. Given that there are TSC add ons for the Indian market (and a lot of content if you go by streamers posting videos), nothing in TSW by any third party developer. Arguably the biggest or 2nd biggest railsim market (China would be of similar size).... and nothing? Then again, maybe they already have their own home-made train sim games that we just don't hear about.
It’s funny, I’ve got an old Indian Bradshaw timetable in one of my drawers and quite fascinating to look through it from time to time. Some very busy routes then others with maybe one or two trains a day. Of course it’s a bit historical now as many of the narrow and metre gauge routes (such as the Satpura Network) have been converted to Broad Gauge. But I would love to drive a narrow gauge IR diesel loco on one of those 2’ 6” routes, the sparse service doesn’t bother me. Only way I could enjoy Indian Railways, not practical to visit as I have an intolerance to spicy food, even the smell or taste of a mild curry makes me feel ill!
A large population doesn't equate to an equally large market. Average incomes are low so gaming isn't as mainstream as movies & cricket and the general population doesn't romanticize the railway to the extent often depicted by the western media (Yeah, making friends as a rail enthusiast isn't easy here ) Also, this isn't the best time to depict Indian Railways in video games for various political and security reasons. There are Android based train simulators - often low budget and sloppy (like most other Android games) Come on Vern, not all Indian cuisine is spicy. And I'll fetch some stuffed parathas if nothing else works for you !
Valid points but it's all very relative. For example the games would sell for less, but they'd also cost less to produce. There is a fairly substantial educated class that by quantity does have money too. Railfans are a fairly small part of ANY society =-) Point taken I don't know the extent to which there is PC and Console gaming compared to other countries. Mobile phones in the Middle East for example are FAR more prevalent than in North America or Europe or Asia, so phone based (Android usually) games are much more popular than anything for PC or Console. People just don't have a culture of having those as much. I haven't been to India yet though so defer to you on that. Missing out on several continents though make it seem far less like a "World" game, Still, if we can't get developers as it is expecting them to expand further is unrealistic I suppose.
