Hello, when you think of multiplayer in a train game, you would probably think of the chaos of the many players driving fast and not following the rules and the big unplayeble mess around them, but my idea is a bit different. I think that Routes can offer (when there are 2 tracks) a player in direction, and for the one tracked routes only one player. But the biggest bonus of this mode can be, so that in one train can be atleast 2 people, a driver and a conductor, that way you can play with a friend, and there are some trains, that have 2 driver seats, so you can be 3 friends or maybe 2 drivers and 2 conductors. This feature will bring friends together and also players can learn from others without sharing their screens or relying on blind instructions. Tell me what you think of this idea Bye
Sounds pretty boring for the person who's just sitting in a train and not driving. And what's the point of having a second player driving a train in the opposite direction, that you'll see for a second or two and then they'll be gone?
I do think the idea of one player be a driver and the other a guard is pretty cool, but it does seem unlikely, unfortunately. (Plus entirely irrelevant to me as I have no friends)
Well there is already a concuctor mode so it will be better than the AI to control the train, and in some trains like the ICEs in germany you can go from the wagons directly to the driver, so the 2-nd player can see and chat with the other. And maybe they can take turns, like one checks the tickets for the whole route and the other in the oposite direction, or from station to station. And i think that a train in the oposite directition can just make the feeling of the game more human, since there will be an actual person driving the train from the other direction not an AI and i think it will definetly make room for more players in one server
Was confirmed when TSW2 was announced but never went anywhere.. At the moment, DTG have confirmed that multiplayer in TSW has been canned and that it's not even in the dining room let alone on the table
I really can’t see what value multiplayer would add to the experience. I hope it is never implemented.
My standard response to these MP request threads is… Try SimRail and Run 8 then come back and see if you still think it’s a good idea. SimRail sound on paper but you end up jumping on random trains not taken by other players, or grabbing a signalbox to operate. There is really not that much that requires interaction with other players, sound the horn if you pass another service operated by a real person or occasional conversation with a signaller. However the people behind the game suppressed the idle chatter which added to the social side of things. Real time signalling can also be quite boring, certainly in a quiet ‘box or alternatively if you go to one of the bigger ones get overwhelmed and kicked by the AI. And when last I looked, none of the servers was particularly busy just the Polish one which just about gets to half full. As for Run 8, well it offers a superb single player game. The MP came across to me very much as a “Good Old Boys Club”, join a server as a new player and you get blanked. When I tried a session I had to finish and parked my train up off the main line with a note to leave it and I would continue later. When I came back, the train had either been deleted or moved on by another player. And even if you regard the latter as “emergent” gameplay, TSW does not run in an open world real time environment like Run 8, or indeed SimRail. Not saying at some point it shouldn’t or couldn’t happen, but DTG need to think long and hard how it could be implemented to add value to the game and mitigate against ganking and stupidity (just got to look at some forum posters to see exactly how they would add to MP). Most important of all, not detract from the fixes and QOL improvements to the core SP game, which sadly is where SimRail continue to hit a big fail.
