Introduction: The North Wales Coast line runs from Crewe to Holyhead, which is about 100ish miles so probably won't be made. I have tried to keep this suggestion reasonable with 63 miles and 13 stations, while still keeping the most interesting parts of the route. Here is the route map: Players can expect express services operated by DMUs, as well as scenic coastal scenery. Era: 2022-2023 Why this route is great for Train Sim World: - Scenic route without having a sparse service - Varied scenery, including stunning coastal views, cliffs, castles and marshland - Long, diesel mainline - Another Welsh route - Includes rolling stock that can run on other routes Rolling stock: There is quite a bit of rolling stock that runs on the route, so not all of it might be included from the get-go. If released as part of a core update, the class 175 could be the base train, and the 221 be included as some sort of deluxe edition. The Transport for Wales Class 175 Coradia formed the backbone of Transport for Wales' regional-express operations until they were replaced by the class 197. Not only are they more aesthetically pleasing than the 197s, they also have a larger front window so the coastal views can be enjoyed more. The class 175 would be seen running Holyhead to Cardiff Central (8tpd), and Llandudno to Manchester Airport (1tph). As well as running on this route, the trains could be layered onto the Cardiff City Network for AI services at Cardiff Central, as well as running TFW services on Manchester Airport Commuter. The Avanti West Coast Class 221 Super-Voyager would be seen running London Euston to Holyhead services (6tpd). They could also layer onto the Euston - Milton Keynes route to represent these services as well as the services that terminate early at Chester. The Transport for Wales Class 158 Express Sprinter would be seen running Birmingham International to Holyhead services (1tp2h), as well as supplementing the class 175 on other services. These class 158s differ from the EMT 158s as they have a different engine. Perhaps this could be sold as a "gameplay pack", as long as it isn't too expensive. Layers: The Class 150 would be seen running Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog (6tpd) The Class 66 would be seen running occasional trips to Penmaenmawr Quarry. Various steam & diesel locomotives could appear for railtours. Thanks for reading the suggestion.
Yes please. Realistic in length and lots of playability (especially the Crewe to Chester section with the shuttle services). Definitely a day one purchase for me.
My suggestion didn't actually include the Crewe section, though yes it would be quite nice. I just tried to keep it a reasonable length so it is considered to be created.
Seems like a great route to introduce voyagers, but how would you get the sounds now that AWC have given all their 220/221s to XC?
That might be an issue, didn't think of that. I'd like to think Dovetail got voyager sounds at the same time that they recorded sounds for the 390, since they always try to get reference for everything, though that might not be the case. Same goes for the 175, but AP has sounds for that which could be re-used in TSW.
I must say, I completely forgot about AP would there be problems with modelling though? Because they still wouldn't have access to the trains? From the roadmap it looks like Rivet (of all Devs???) have got the CrossCountry licence, so maybe we could see something from them?
I'm expecting that one of the deluxe locos for TSW6 is an XC voyager, so an Avanti version could probably be built off that.
That would make sense, although if they did do a section of the North Wales Coast line, would they do the Cl197 and Cl67 & Mk4s & Mk4s with the 220/221 as the Deluxe loco, or would they do the Cl197 and the Cl67 Mk4s as deluxe loco, if they plan on doing the North Wales Coast line at that.
I imagine that the voyager would be the deluxe loco, since they run less services and call at less stations than whatever TFW stock they would make (whether that's the 175 or the 197)
That's part of the reason I set it a few years back, nowadays it's more or less all 197s (and the occasional 158 on the Birmingham services but they are on borrowed time anyway)
First-day purchase here ! Timeframe is perfect, would like to see the 175 and 158 as another evolution of the SHG Sprinter! PS. 197s sounds are great, but hate their aesthetic, which makes them "cramped" and too similar to 730s!
They look quite cheap in my opinion, almost as if they're made of plastic. Also I'm not a massive fan of driving on a scenic route with a class 385 style cab view
Ah, it got leaked a short while ago that Crewe station WILL be added to the game. I was convinced it was going to be a Crewe- Liverpool or Crewe - Manchester route. I couldnt work out why so many folks were disappointed that the Manchester Airport route didbnt go to Crewe, when it was clearly going to be added.... Doh, I should have realised Crewe would be heading West into Wales and not East into Manchester. So yes, this would would be amazing, especially when ATS finally adds the Crew extension too. *wriggles eyebrows.
It wasn't really leaked that Crewe is coming to the game. It was more of a teaser considering it was on the official roadmap article alongside an announcement that a new third party, All Aboard Studios, iirc was working on a route with the teaser image of Crewe attached. Whilst it's true the ATS route was supposed to go to Crewe before they realised they bit of more than they could chew, the two have nothing to do with each other.
