Does anyone now how many jobs you are gonna get with this dlc. On the preview I noticed there was only 36 now I might of read that wrong.
There won't be any new services I believe as the 87 is already doing the 86 services, it will be a straightforward substitution on the relative services.....
I believe there are 36 individual timetable runs, which will amount to over 40 hours of gameplay. Plus 5 scenarios. Think the Journey mode contains 14 elements though one of those will be the inevitable once around the Training Centre. What we don’t know with the Class 86 being added to the existing timetable is whether runs already done with the 87 will already be ticked off, though nothing to stop you repeating.
Knew i could rely on you vern for the info thanks lol £20 seems a it pricey though i know its a new loco.
Well considering we are getting a fleet of Mark 2F’s and the RMB buffet car, the price is reasonable. Almost certain these will pop up as a layer on any future JT routes - even something like the North Wales Coast, by the early to mid 80’s all the through services to Euston would be aircon stock, as indeed would be the London trains on the Blackpool route. By 1986 most of the Mark 2 non aircons had been displaced and cascaded to replace Mark Ones on secondary routes such as Scottish internal services, West Highland, Far North etc. And the overnight journey from Glasgow to Inverness or vv was nowhere near as pleasant sat up all night in a Mark 2 coach with fluorescent lighting blazing away, compared to the more subdued tungsten lighting of the older Mark Ones. (Sorry for slightly OT old man ramble).
In theory the non-London services which are currently operated by the 87 will be replaced by the 86, they are sadly not subbing the 86 in on the freight services "as it's not the right type of 86" which personally I think sucks, I know some folks are pedantic but the visual differences being so different most wouldn't spot the issue when it comes tear-arsing past going the other way. Hopefully they will add the 86 into Blackpool Branches along with the 87 (maybe that is why they've not sorted the 87 yet), especially so if we have to rip the sparky for a Duff onward to the coast and the same in reverse for the London services Don't forget though that a big part of the pack is also the coaching stock, the MkII Aircons, something that a lot of us have been asking for for a long time now. They will almost certainly used in future timetables and packs for modern railtours given how widely used they are currently in the real world for tours now that CDL has become a big issue. While I don't quite share Vern's affinity and warm memories of Mk1 stock (as whenever I ended up on one it was always in a very bad state) I do have many happy memories of being on the Mk2 "Coffins" and quite frankly I know full well that I'm going to end up spawning one in a siding then sitting in it for ages just listening to that high pitched hum of the underfloor equipment
Not all the Mark Ones were cosy though. The later build, as tended to be used on the LM services pre Mk3 sleeper were the newer build that had whining fluorescent lights, plastic panelling instead of wood and slightly different seats without the big wooden wings. They also ended up being used on the Master Cobbler commuter service rakes.
36 services in WCML-North strong words of Advice don,t by it. Its bugged as soon as you power it the engine reaches about 10miles the engine cuts out slows down to 0 mph tried to reset the train powered it up again the train just start slipping back its the same with the class 87 as for the coaches pack that goes with it can,t say i was very impressed
The 86/2s decided are non multiple working fitted, that would cause problems on the heavy freights. One would hope an 86/4 pack is in the pipeline which would bring freight turns and new wagons. As I have posted in the past the JT timetable is pretty much full as far as trains goes as per the original era. New services would be completely fictional unless deciding relief or railtour services or one off Freight. JT actually massively compromised on substitute locos and stock to fill the timetable due to TSW having gaping holes in the rolling stock and locos for the period. If I was producing the DLC I would have kicked off with the 86 as the core Electric but they were not diagrammed to the Mk3 turns on the Northern part of the WCML. Will be buying tommorow as busy tonight.
It sounds to me like you are overloading the motors. You can't just put full power on you have to slowly tap it up and the class 86 has less tolerance so is easier to overload.
…just an observation (not bitchin’ !) but lots of the AI cl.86 & 87 express services are being driven from the rear cab (North & Southbound). Xbox Series X…all Diesel services as normal.
They said on the stream you have to be more careful when applying the power on the 86....... You have tripped it and need to do a full shutdown and restart........ Driver error I'd say not DLC issue.
That’s prototypical, that just what happens when the loco runs around the coaches to couple to the other end
Well it can't work on any of the double heading freight services anyway as it doesn't have the 36 way jumpers to work in multiple so it would end up dragging around a dead loco ontop of a heavy train with less than half the timetabled horsepower.
I suspected that might be the case. I presume also ticked off in the 86 Journey, if done previously with the 87? It's a shame in some respects we didn't get a new or different timetable for the 86 pack - perhaps a Sunday timetable which would have given everyone a clean slate to start with.
I'm still hoping they'll add the 86 to Blackpool Branches in the future. Not only as AI, but a chance to more of the loco changes that I enjoy so much in WCMLoS. I deliberately stopped driving cross-country services when I knew there would be no new timetable, so still have a few to tick off.
Some people are never happy, are they? The same service can always be replayed. I've done the same run more than once in the 87. Ain't going to bother me redoing one again in the 86. In fact, quite often I do the exact same service multiple times. That's where the fun comes in. And think of it this way, the 86 has less power than the 87. So, while the service was completed in the 87, what's stopping you doing it again in the 86 just to see the difference?
Really on the fence with this one. JT's stuff is always great, but it just doesn't add a ton of gameplay, with no new services. Does the new coaching stock appear on any other routes as AI traffic? Not an expert on UK coaches so that might be a dumb question. Also, i saw on another thread that the 86 appeared on the Cargo Line timetable in traffic- is it driveable on that timetable, or only the original?
Nightly Ghost train to Glasgow low street but it's not at night. All seriousness that is very weird and should be fixed as it looks spooky.
The driver not being in the correct cab is a bug but the loco being driven from either cab 1 or 2 isn’t
Wish listed, at $102AUD for this and the route it will have to wait until it is affordable. I like the look of it but it can wait, I am happy learning other stuff for a while.
It's caused by all 87s and 86s being spawned with cab 2 leading by default while AI driver model defaults to spawning in cab 1
Does the cargo line military timetable have the 86 layered in? Saw it asked on stream but wasn't confirmed.
Yeah, but somebody posted a screenshot in another thread showing it on the Cargo Line timetable: So we're getting some conflicting info on this one.
If it is subbing in whether by design or mistake then that’s definitely a good thing! Just hope that if it is a bug it’s not fixed. assumingly that means by starting on foot you’ll be able to drive the 86 on that timetable as well
I know it's two different teams, but it's a bit shambolic for it to be up in the air when people that have forked out for both the 86 and military pack will OBVIOUSLY want them both on the same timetable.... Dovetail needs to have a better handle on things really. I own neither and would have picked both up. But I'm not running 86 services when cargoline is missing, it's over £30 for both packs, nearly the same price as the route itself for God's sake!
I've been spawned into no. 1 cab on the 87 many times. I always check as I prefer no. 2 for the better sounds. I can't speak on the 86 as I've only driven one service with it (cab 2).
To clear up confusion when they cloned the timetable to create theirs the 86 and Mk2F's was already implemented so if you get both packs they are compatible with each other.
Thanks for this, had been holding off Vol 4 until we had clarity on this, will pick up both packs now
A few shots from yesterdays livestream (PS5). I had a big smile on my face free roaming to Milton Keynes with an 86 and the Poole - Glasgow formation. (last 2 two pics). Interesting as I couldnt fit the formation into a Free roam in the training center with a few locos dotted around the place, but I can spawn it into one of the busiest routes in TSW!!! Really enjoying driving the loco and making up some of the Poole interegional coach formations from the mid 1980's. only thing I would say is the Headlight doesnt seem to be working (although it is). Think it needs to be a tad brighter. Hentis
I can't wait for payday to buy this pack. As a commuter on the GEML since 1993, it will be wonderful to experience those Aircon Mk2s and the really drafty Mk1 buffet cars again. Hopefully now we have the Class 86 they and the 87s will be added to Blackpool Branches as AI to improve realism on that already excellent route.
They (Just Trains) have said they want to do it. So hopefully it will happen. Would be interesting if they do a freight variant of the Class 86 as well. Cant believe this was 18 years ago Hentis
86/2 locos were never in Freightliner Livery These are 86/6 locos Cant believe the chap who took the video posted the wrong info.
Does anyone know if all the class 86/2 are modelled? The class ran from 86204 to 86261, but on my runs so far I keep getting the same few locos (and they are different runs).
JT Benedict Is this something that's known about with the new pack? Not a game breaker obviously but incorrect none the less. (All the coaches in the 86 pack are described as "JT Mk3a ***" and the BSO is called an RMB). Also the coach numbers are appearing automatically when used in Livery Designer. Is this intentional as the Mk3S don't do this in Livery Designer.
I believe it's the same system as with other named and numbered locos, in that certain numbers are more or less rare to see based on how far they would be from their home depot. This was on the Jubilees in SOS and the 47s in BPO + WCMLoS, I think the 87 is like this as well to a degree but they ran the full WCML length on a regular basis so pretty much all equal in likeliness. At least I think this is how they're implemented, I could be wrong though. The other possibility is that maybe they just didn't set some of the units to appear in regular traffic as they were ones allocated to the GEML instead, and never would have travelled up the WCML.
https://flic.kr/p/nJKJwY Lovely looking locos in green. The 86/6 would definitely layer into a modernised WCMLOS or onto Manchester Airport, WCMLS, NLL and Goblin routes.
OMG Well spotted. Such a dumbass who posted it as the wrong sub class. I'll change it in the morning lol. Must have had 86/2's on the brain that day lol. Hentis
They did, yes. Can't remember the number, but it had been scrapped by the time the route is set I think.
