    Esteemed Developers,

I am writing to you today with a proposition that I firmly believe will redefine the Train Sim World 6 experience and captivate a massive audience: the inclusion of the RER lines within the game. This is not merely a suggestion; it's a strategic opportunity to elevate your product, expand your player base, and solidify Train Sim World's position as the premier train simulation platform.

Why the RER? The Untapped Potential of the Parisian Rail Network

The RER (Réseau Express Régional) represents a goldmine of content, challenge, and visual splendor, offering an unparalleled opportunity to create a truly immersive and engaging simulation experience. It's a complex, high-density, and iconic rail network that perfectly embodies the core values of Train Sim World: realism, detail, and player engagement.

The RER Advantage: A Multifaceted Proposition

    • Unrivaled Operational Complexity: The RER lines are a symphony of operational challenges. Imagine:
      • High-Frequency Services: Simulate the relentless rhythm of rush hour, managing tight schedules and maximizing efficiency.
      • Diverse Route Structures: Navigate complex junctions, branching lines, and intricate station layouts, requiring strategic planning and quick decision-making.
      • Multiple Rolling Stock Types: Master the operation of a diverse fleet, including the iconic MI 09, MI 2N, Z 58000, and the sleek Z 50000 "Francilien," each with unique characteristics and operational requirements.
      • Advanced Signaling Systems: Decipher the intricacies of the French signaling system, mastering its nuances to ensure safe and efficient operations.
    • Visually Stunning Environments:
      • Iconic Parisian Landmarks: Experience the grandeur of the Gare du Nord, the bustling hub of Châtelet–Les Halles, and the modern architecture of La Défense.
    • Suburban Landscapes: Journey through the charming suburbs of Paris, experiencing the unique character of each station and surrounding area.
      • Rural Scenery: Escape the urban sprawl and traverse the picturesque countryside, adding a refreshing visual dimension to the gameplay.
    • Enhanced Player Engagement: The RER lines offer a multitude of opportunities to create engaging and challenging scenarios:
      • Rush Hour Simulations: Immerse players in the chaos and excitement of peak-hour operations, testing their skills and decision-making abilities.
      • Dynamic Timetables: Provide players with the flexibility to operate on dynamic timetables, adapting to real-time events and unforeseen circumstances.
    • Strategic Expansion Opportunities: The RER lines offer a vast potential for future expansion and content creation:
      • Phase 1: RER B and E: Launch with the highly sought-after RER B and E lines, providing a core experience that will immediately resonate with players.
      • Phase 2: RER A and D: Expand the Parisian network with the addition of RER A and D, creating a comprehensive and immersive simulation of the entire RER system.
      • Rolling Stock DLC: Introduce additional rolling stock DLC, allowing players to customize their fleets and experience the full range of RER train types.
      • Scenario Packs: Release scenario packs that offer a variety of challenging and engaging gameplay experiences, keeping players entertained for hours on end.
    • Community Demand: The inclusion of the RER lines has been a persistent and passionate request from the Train Sim World community.
The RER lines represent a game-changing opportunity for Train Sim World 6. By embracing this proposal, Dovetail Games can:
    • Attract New Players: Expand the game's appeal to a wider audience, including rail enthusiasts, simulation gamers, and those with an interest in French culture.
    • Increase Player Retention: Provide existing players with a compelling reason to continue playing, keeping them engaged and invested in the game.
    • Enhance Brand Reputation: Demonstrate a commitment to quality, realism, and player satisfaction, solidifying Train Sim World's position as the leading train simulation platform.
    • Generate Revenue: Capitalize on the popularity of the RER lines through DLC, scenario packs, and other content offerings.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I eagerly await your response and the exciting prospect of experiencing the RER lines in Train Sim World 6.

    Sincerely,

    Mark

And if RER is operated by or has even a slight connection to SNCF, forget it. They have already told DTG no more licencing or access to research their routes, trains and operations.

Good to know, thanks. I didn't realize that, should've made more research.

It is lost in forum archives. However if you do a search for SNCF (and) licence it has been discussed numerous times over the years on the forum. Same with SBB in Switzerland or even the freight operators in the US, or NYC Subway. There’s no big formal announcement that xxxx won’t licence their operations any more, the information arrives subtly in the public domain.

And if DTG did have a SNCF licence I’m sure by now we would have seen more than just the one French route in game.

The SNCF is still open to do business, in 2023 they partner with a company that bring to life a game in Roblox which is better than TSW Tycoon btw check SNCF Gaming to see more

Quite often on the forum people will say that a route can’t be done due to DTG not having a license from a certain entity only for a route to come along later, fully licensed by that entity. The last information I remember about SNCF was earlier this year from Matt at DTG who said that he would like to do a regional French route at some point and that whilst SNCF had only previously allowed the TGV in the game there had been some progress made with them allowing other content. I certainly don’t ever remember anything about SNCF saying they will never allow anything in the game ever again. It’s always a good idea to ignore anyone saying stuff like that as they don’t know for certain what DTG will or won’t have permission to make now or in the future. It should never stop suggestions being made.

I’ve never seen anything official to say SNCF has withdrawn licensing from DTG. Just because DTG hasn’t released another SNCF route, doesn’t mean they don’t have the license. By all accounts, SNCF was very hands-on in helping DTG get the livery etc correct on the TGV.

Even if there'd be difficulties with SNCF licensing, I wouldn't let you stop that from suggesting SNCF content.

Remember how BNSF content was deemed "impossible" due to licensing for like a decade or so, and eventually we got licensed BNSF content...

If enough people want it, there's a reason to DTG to pursue a licensing deal. Won't guarantee it happens, but if we stop suggesting content just because we think it's impossible, it's just makes it more likely it'll never happen.

This is what Matt said most recently. So there does seem to be a touch of “urban myth” about the situation and rumour ended up turning to fact.

I have a distinct memory of Matt saying in a stream once, that a French route is difficult because you also have to license all the unique buildings.

Well this is what happens, it then gets reported second hand on the forums and when people then say "source, please" it is hard to find. Same with quite a few other licenses etc. DTG have told us there are difficulties with.
