This thread is to suggest a possible gameplay pack For TSW! The gameplay pack involves northern rail trains and I will jump more in depth below:

What is the idea/concept behind this? I feel like in TSW, The Northern rail license could do with more trains and routes. Currently, the only unit we have from northern rail is the class 323 EMU. This gameplay pack will be somewhat similar to something like the Diesel legends pack, or the BR heavy freight pack, I believe it’s called!

obviously, easier said than done, but I hope one day, DTG or a third party can make this happen!

The class 323 is a good little thing to drive as it’s a popular EMU for its unique traction motor sounds as it takes off! They are popular in the north, running services from Manchester, Blackpool, Bolton, Southport and much more!

i believe with some of the routes we currently have in TSW, they could do with some new units to bring those routes to life, depending on the era of the route. For example, Manchester airport route made by ATS, is a route that does see all sorts TOC’s, such as TPE, Northern rail, Avanti, TFW, EMR and more!

with the trains you will see below, I believe the trains I have in mind will be favoured by many people, as many people on here including me, have suggested in the past for these units to enter the game!

Northern Spirit: Diesel pack: Trains included:

    IMG_1254.jpeg Class 150/1

The class 150/1 is a popular DMU that is seen serving passengers across the north and north west. This unit in other words, is a class 150/2, which is currently already in TSW, but does have subtle differences, which include No gangway/walkway and a slightly different cab.

as someone who lives in Lancashire and works with Northern rail and on these trains every night, I’m not all local to some of the routes which I have and will mention, so bare with me!

the class 150/1 is able to do all sorts of services, but most commonly, are doing stopping services and semi express services. The class 150/1 can be seen running around Manchester, the midlands, the northwest and the north east!
    IMG_1253.jpeg Class 156

The class 156 super-sprinter is an also A popular DMU that is also very common across the country. This DMU can be seen serving passengers in the Northwest, Northeast, midlands and parts of the south. The class 156 is basically a fun, groggy little unit to drive!

    Class 195

The Class 195 is a modern, diesel-powered workhorse of Northern England’s regional rail network. Designed to replace the almighty class 142 Pacer, it offers a marked improvement in speed, reliability, and passenger comfort—ideal for services across the North’s non-electrified lines.

The class 195, as like the trains listed above, operate in the north, northwest, northeast as well as the midlands.

The class 195 is unique for its transmission, which is a 6-speed ZF EcoLife automatic transmission, something which is not very common across the UK. Many people like to refer to its transmission as a bus, as you are able to hear the class 195 change gears as it picks up speed, like in a bus!

I believe the class 195 will be a very cool addition as it’s a very modern diesel DMU, with modern tech in the cab which is something you don’t see on diesel trains in TSW! For reference, I have below a picture of the inside of a class 195 cab I took when I was doing my PTS and Training!

The class 195 has a few modern screens, which show stuff such as CCTV, TMS, and more! Also includes a Combined Throttle/brake lever!

let me know below your thoughts and suggestions about the possibility of a gameplay pack for modern content! Open to discussions :)

below: A Poster/game thumbnail that I made with AI, as a concept!

I would love a diesel Northern route.

Now this is something I can get behind. Plus another variant of the Class 150 is very welcome. Especially as the developer could then adapt it to the Marston Vale LNR livery for WCML South.

Exactly why! (I’m not familiar with what you mentioned ahahah :) ) I’ve seen over the last few months, an increase in request for more Northwrn rail stock, I think they should make it happen. I know Alan from ATS did say he is looking at possibly doing a 195 once they are familiar with TSW editor!

I can see why. The only Northern stock currently is the 323. Not that the 323 isn't good enough, but I think it's getting a bit repetitive. Cross City had a 323, Glossop had a 323, and now MAC has a 323. Really? It would be good to see some CAF stuff in the game. Especially as it breaks things up (even with TFW which has the 197s, or WMR with the 196s).

Agreed. It’s repetitive and that’s the issue for me, it can get boring although it is fun to drive! I think if DTG or a Third party were to make the class 195, I think it would be really great.

Reason being is that it’s such a modern diesel DMU which is something we don’t even have in TSW. I guess the class 170 is somewhat modern but it’s outdated so being able to see a new DMU, with new Technology, with a unique feel to it would be very cool and I think would do very well, for current routes and potential new routes.

I really do think DTG or the Third party can do well with this, just for the fact it’s a diesel that distinct and different from the rest!

if it was to come to TSW, we could even potentially get a 331 as well as they share the same exact body, with the difference being the 331 being electric so it’ll require some changes to the undercarriage but apart from that, same body, very similar cabs (been in both cabs), and same concept!

Whilst I have absolutely nothing against the 323, Northern have such a varied fleet, it's kind of a shame that we have two Northern routes that both share the same train

Bring them on and if you want a route that has them look no further than Calder Valley that one goes Leeds to Manchester Victoria via Hebden Bridge Halifax Bradford. Very different from the usual Huddersfield line route we have.

I’ve heard good stuff about the Calder valley line, would be a good route for a possible class 156 or 150/1 so that they can stretch their legs!
