Ah...yes - this one by the brilliant Romansu72. It's one of those mods which works so well you forget it's there (I did!), but it's essential for the 87. Hopefully at some point it will be extended to include the 86 (or JustTrains will fix the 86 so that it's not required). Until then I'll hold off on buying the 86.
The 87 does it as well for some reason. I'm not sure how they managed to get it to break in that way, since CTRL 0 works for every other train in TSW (to my knowledge).
Re the Mark 2 interiors then... Confirming in dull rainy conditions the interior colours look a bit more creamy, though still with more of a grey tint than the magnolia there were in reality. So whatever is wring with the materials, textures and or lighting in full daylight still needs sorting please.
I had these issues last night with the class 86 and MK2 Rake. Photo mode the rolling stock looked poor in quality. (Look at the rear coaches). low resolution it seemed. Missing coaches layers as seen in photos. Zoom in they go but wide shoots then that’s the results. Inside cab. Same again. Zoom in and it blurs. Come out and it returns to normal. I have photos of the control desk too. Yet 40 minutes after taking these shots as I arrived in Carlisle it fixed it self. I Noticed the error after a harsh stop under very heavy braking. Driving tired. No SPAD tho So yes these are issues I found last night with the new Add on pack. Is this the add on pack tho or the game. As I’ve noticed a drop in overall graphics since the last update. I’m using a PS5 for reference. Thanks. ✌
I noticed the poor and blurred textures with passing rakes of the new coaches but had put it down to running at 1440p. Sounds like there could be a more fundamental issue, though I haven’t (yet) had a rake pass me with an entire vehicle missing. Have to say, this whole pack really needs to go back in the factory for some fixes and quality improvements.
It's a thing in TS as well. Different rolling stock looks blurrier than others at certain distances. I don't own the pack yet myself, but from the screenshots something definitely seems off.
Indeed. Looking at a few comments by others I’d say so. I noticed last night that my MK3s have been replaced now with MK2’s!. Not looked into that any further yet. Could be just a title issue. Small issue yes, but issues never the less that are interfering with game play. Be from frame rate (Core issue not DLC pack?) Some uncertain about interior of the coaches. No texture or feel. Feels very cold even steel looking. Not crème or blue. A few things that for 19.99 shouldn’t be there or in the case of rolling stock, should be there. Is mentioning quality and price wrong, for we as customers have to be honest with feedback. This would be my 3 or forth new add on pack content and each one has an issue. There for speaking as a customer and fan of TSW would like to see that any feedback is welcomed to improve their product and us as customers a better experience after buying a DTG product. This is essential to DTG by being more transparent with customers and fans. Building a better relationship to create a better game for all. My fingers are crossed that those responsible for any errors will respond to many concerns raised on this Class 86 Feedback thread. ✌
So first full run done, enjoy the loco drive and having the air con mk2s and mk1 buffet. Positives: Looks great Drives great Brings variety and some challenges. Negatives: Massive frame rate drops in certain areas when 86s and stock are present. Although not so bad if I kill the lighting mod. The DTG class 40 doesn't help when that's in the area. Traction motors failed. Not really a negative but wasnt aware random failures occur?
Tricky one. As yes I’d agree, I’ve noticed a difference in resolution since the last update yet must remain on thread topic. So with the MK2s being part of the new add on pack this is my first experience of such issues of a missing coach body. For anything of a core issue I’d say it’s a separate issue. I’ll simply say I was happy with performance on the WCML. But the last few days it’s been a bit of a mess in terms of resolution/ frame rates. Here is the evidence of the fix I mentioned to readers yesterday. Notice the time. Corrected itself at some point entering Carlisle. ✌
Just quickly. The traction motors overheat. They’re not as powerful as the class 87. So you have to remain from overloading the motors. Or they will cut out or trip. To restart the AC power supply you have to pull the tap changer (Edit) to off. Make sure the AMP’s or voltage reader is nil before then doing a reset on the up pantograph. You will hear the power supply kick back in and away you go. Just take your time and don’t over load the traction motors or they will overheat and trip. ✌
Did reset but motors one and two would not take power. Isolated both and drove on two motors Lancaster to Preston.
Just so people know we are aware of both the issues with height of the locomotive and raildriver compatibility.
Just of note also, the class 47 extra passenger diagrams from London to Glasgow still use the original mk2a’s. Is this realistic? Should they not be hauling mk3s or the new mk2f’s?
I don't know about the real life working, but the classic Mark 2s were in service until around the turn of the millennium.
You would actually have been more likely to see Mark Ones on relief trains. The Mark 2 non aircons were cascaded onto secondary routes which were clinging on as loco hauled, particularly in Scotland, with ETH 37/4’s.
Indeed. I absolutely refuse to buy it. DTG should have cracked on by now and done their own official blue grey reskin.
I wish someone was able to use the other Mark 1s and make a PAK file set of custom ones. It's definitely possible, but a lot of work. It would be worth it though. I do wish that somebody would consider doing AP-style megapacks of the different coach varieties in the UK. It would get all of them out of the way and be a great resource going forward.
Has anyone done conductor mode on services with Mk 2F coaches? Not getting any tickets to check... If you have been able to check tickets, please share which service it worked on for you.
Does that also include the issue with mark 2f coach reskins not showing up in Formation Designer? It's not a good look, when you consider the same thing happened with the mark 3s, when first released.
Ok. Not sure why the fuses or switches in the engine compartment aren’t working. I’ve had no problems in that area and always made my destination on the four traction motors. I turn train engine heater to off, as that’s been left on as standard. Keep my eye on the current or volt readings and I might get around 3 overloads. If so I only use the overload reset button or the pantograph up button. I don’t use the engine bay or trip switches. Done a run this morning and it all seemed okay. No issues I experienced like the ones shown recently. Just major lagging at certain points. ✌
Biggest gripe with this DLC is the frame rate drop. I'm stood in Lancaster on the Down platform held at red. A non stop formed of Mk2s air cons comes through on the Down through and every time a Mk2 passes the frames hitch and stutter. I'm now lowering Preston Carlisle to the lowest light mod setting I can find but this performance should not be the case. It also loaded 86220 as 'Phoenix' which is 86219?
Just a question, those who are having performance issues compared to the 87 and Mk3's are you running with the light mod?
Yes for me, last night I dropped it down to the low light mod setting (which isn't said to affect FPS) and performance is fine.
I am not using any mods - either the “god” environment or the WCML specific one. Also running pure 1440p, no Lossless Scaling or Nvidia scaling in use. With regard to the texture blurring and distortion of the Mark 2F’s in external view, if memory serves me correctly didn’t the HST’s on GWE display this tendency at first, until DTG fixed something?
Absolutely amazing dlc Just Trains have done an amazing job as always with the loco and coaches fantastic detail and im looking forward to seeing more from them (hopefully a third rail Southern Region route in the 80s/90s at some point). There's just one problem I have with it: I don't know if it's just me being unlucky with services or if it's an issue but I haven't seen a single AI 86 and I've only ever had mk2a's whether I spawn in the train from timetable or spawn on foot, I've seen no mk2fs anywhere on the route at all and all AI electric services are 87s, no 86s to be seen so far. I bought the DLC on Sunday, I'm on Xbox series S
(Edited) Frame rates are dropping and I think I know why. On PS5 anyway. So I did a little more testing last night. Now after DTG added the function to remove UGC formations and UGC livery’s I usually have this off. Yet have ran with it on in the past. I will encounter lagging a frame drop. Slowing down and stuttering. When liveries do show maybe a few carriages disappear. I’m not the only one to notice this for I’ve had a brief conversation in relation to this with other community members in the past. This is something I’ve noticed with my own personal work, I use the maximum decals amount with some work running into the 9000 mark. The system just can’t cope, giving me concern about end users of my work if they use because it’s highly detailed means that users system will lag. Why bother working so hard on livery’s then. Separate issues. Yet in some way does apply here after what I found last night. I Spent around 5 or 6 hours driving around with UGC off for both lower settings in the menu bar while leaving added content on. Loco DLCs and Fright packs etc stuff like that. Straight away on a scenario (First Generation Stopper) where I’d drive the class 101 on service from Carnforth via Lancaster to Morecambe. I Noticed the difference. On leaving morecambe I seen this. A shadow moving up and down. First glance I thought it was digger but no. Just tree’s. This was the only thing I spotted of any major issue. Other than that the game ran very well. Did two services 1S07, and 1V32. Hardly any lag even in areas that were a problem before. Mostly entering major stations or built up areas. I had so much going on in variety of services, additional content. Class 37s double heading an oil tanker service, class 40s dashing around. 47s here and there. It felt alive, and the resolution seemed better. With UGC liveries and UGC formations off it ran like a dream. On tho it’s a completely different story. A problem I now see is that with higher decals numbers added DLCs longer routes etc the system can’t take it. Use liveries or formations and I encounter lagging, missing rolling stock poor detail or resolution. I wish I could share finding on PC but sadly I don’t know and won’t pretend to. All I do know is what I’ve seen for some time. Decals in livery editor is slowing the system down. DTG have now added a feature to help performance. I witnessed this last night. Yet before the last update for the core game all seemed okay. And to be fair to Just trains as others and I suspected is that of a core game issues over a product quality by Just Trains. I have to make that clear here to avoid any misunderstanding or pointing fingers at any one person or company. The system can’t handle it, the class 86s and stock looked all good, the route and scenery was responsive enough that I didn’t feel like I was playing Minecraft. The pack is good enough it’s the system that’s not. I had to turn off the UGC settings for this pack to run well. To be fair I’m really enjoying after last nights experience. The amount of variety and services got me. No frame rate issue just a nice place to be surrounded by locos and passing services/ movements. What ever is happening on your side then I hope it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. I raised my concerns about this pack and as I say feel it’s only fair to report back any findings that would indicate where the true problem arises. Capabilities of the system, where it feels like more can be done in the future to resolve these issues of lagging etc. Yet DTG is holding off for the reason I think I’ve mentioned here. Sales of GTA6. Separate topic tho. Good Luck. I’m out ✌
I’ve had no issues with missing Ai 86’s. Passenger serves fine, even double headed freight services. It all there. The only thing I could suggest is checking the UGC menu if that’s available on XBox. I’m on PS5. Plus was there some issues with products not being available on XBox but not sure if this is the cause for the problem your experiencing. Maybe try reinstalling it again. Doing that can often clear any problems caused on downloading or installation. ✌
I think you’re right as I do remember something about texture on the GWE Class 43. I’ve just written about my findings in regards to resolution. I personally believe it’s the limit of the system. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the game does feel different less responsive in frame rates and texture. Something just doesn’t feel right. Yet I do have to say I am enjoying this pack. I have a livery I can work on for once not like the faulty class 66 from the express pack. I’m happy as Larry when a product I buy works. Thanks Just Trains. The model is perfect you have to give credit to them for that. Yet I can’t deny there isn’t a problem, but I don’t think it’s tied to JT and is more of a core game issues. I have to be fair because I had no issues last night with UGC settings off. All was well I’m glad to report ✌
I had this issue but if you put on UGC they will show up. Yet have to say it does seem hit and miss at times. Found this out after doing work on MK3s something I don’t normally do is rolling stock. Had to try find out what worked and what didn’t. Missing stock in freeroam was one. Yet playing around with the UGC feature has some effect on what shows and what doesn’t. It’s an odd one. Like I have two MKs3 TSOs one empty one with my creations in it. Even tho I only have only one TSO to select in LD. Did my head in until I found separate stock or duplicate stock codes. Some empty some where your work is located. As I say very odd, very frustrating too. Yet I do have access to all my MK3s etc in formations designer. FO, TSO, RMB. Yet on checking my MK3s have all been replaced with MK2F codes?. Or am I missing something here? lol. ✌.
I've tried reinstalling both the 86 and preston-carlisle, with no change. I seem to be the only person with this problem so no idea what it could be. I've tried restarting my console, no change, I've checked for updates and nothing there so no clue what it could be
I don’t know what more to suggest then. All I can say is you’ve added feedback along with your concerns. We all have and the only way anyone will know is hearing back from the ones responsible. Transparency is about being honest and open. I only hope someone will get back to you or whats the point of having these feedback threads. Good luck. ✌.
I’d like to drop some information about the resolution issues. I’m only experiencing this in photo mode and have done prior to the release of this 86 add on pack. MK3s before the release of this Class 86 pack. The layers are distorted. Sharp. Now photos taken last night. Class 86 Mk2s WCML. In Photo Mode. Not in Photo mode. (Below) So again this is not isolated issue to this new pack. I’m experiencing resolution issues in Photo mode only with no effect on the loco just the rolling stock. Now and prior to any recent observations. ✌.
PS5 The 86 has the same issue that some older locos from NTP, TVL etc. have. Imagine you go to the external camera. Then you return to the internal cockpit view. Now, the internal camera does NOT have the correct field of view. If you move the left stick down, the camera zooms in a little bit more. This is not the case with the more modern locos. It would be great if it could be fixed.
Ai driver models are frequently driving from the wrong cab. This is also an issue with the 87 (on Xbox series X)
Hopefully it'll get sorted. I did submit a ticket for it to DTG aswell. Hopefully that'll help as it's really frustrating
Try uninstalling and reinstalling Preston - Carlisle as you might have not got the update required for the 86 to appear.
I think other people (including JT) are thinking you can’t drive the Class 86 (as if it isn’t showing up at all) but as I understand it from this original post you can drive it, it’s just that you aren’t seeing any on AI services or seeing the new coaches. Have you checked your settings to ensure you don’t have substitutions disabled? I think all the Class 86 services are substitutions so having substitutions disabled will prevent them showing on AI services, and may also affect the new coaches.
