Are there any plans to layer them, particularly the xc one, on other routes?

Will the 323 and 170 have improved suspension?

Will this DLC layer onto other routes (particularly MML, ECML, or Cardiff City Network)?

Are there any hopes / aims / plans to eventually be able to bring auto announce to this, or is the rework of the base route required insurmountable for this project?

There is a service early in the morning that runs to Longbridge platform 2, then goes into the reversing siding, and into platform 1. The siding shunt is both ways AI currently. Is this/can this be made playable please?

Can you provide more information about the 'platform visualization tool' mentioned in the article? Sounds cool, but I don't know what that means or what the implications are

Can you show how the layers are structured? Curious to see if the 170 ones are split so the timetable is future proofed for any new rolling stock in the game. This was done previously for Cardiff and ECML.

Yes I'd like to see this too - specifically (potentially among other splits), are they split such that voyager services which are currently represented by 170s are in their own layer, and therefore if we did get a voyager it could be swapped out with little work/overhaul required

Rivet's new video on Youtube about the new Class 170s has indication of improved suspension with the train bouncing on junctions.

Are there any plans to introduce more gameplay packs like this in the future? I would personally love to see older routes get timetable improvements like BCC is with the new Class 170 liveries, this would be a really welcome addition to a lot of the older routes going forward too!

Has the 170 sounds been tweaked and updated, and if so does the 'updated' 170 have the running sounds reimplemented that were missing? And if so, can we expect the ScotRail 170 to be brought upto the same standard?

Is the timetable (including all AI at Birmingham New Street) a 1:1 replica of the 2019 timetable?

With the original BCC 323 timetable used as a base can we use the 323 in the same timetable mode the same way we could before?

And a slightly unusual question is, as DTG and other developers begin to work together more, hypothetically could DTG possibly use Rivets help to implement the older Adtranz style headlight clusters to the some of the 377/1 models?

Was there any thought to extending BCC & releasing it as a new route? This pack obviously adds long distance trains from 2 ToC’s, onto a route where the current TT is fully self-enclosed. As I understand it one of the main issues with ‘extensions’ would be the existing TT & that wouldn’t be an issue here?

I think that this pack is a good idea for ToCs such as XC, but there was probably some good potential here to get ambitious & add in some suitable distance for the 170’s.

    My question:

Why are you ignoring all the threads and feedback about the broken running sounds on the Fife circle 170 and because of that why should I trust you enough not to do exactly what you have done with that and break the 170 in this a few months after launch (assuming you've even fixed them in the first place) and then completely ignore all feedback about it?

    Questions:

    1. Have the 170 running sounds been improved/fixed?
    2. Will auto announcements be added at a later date?

    Thanks.

Have any improvements to the route been included with this gameplay pack (fixed glowing oobjects).

Also what signals have been changed atr New Street as per the article. Will this affect other timetables (asking for a friend ;)

Another one from me. Why should I support Rivet when they can’t go back and fix their still broken older content? Speed limit on the St Ives branch a case in point. Jasper has been pinged directly a couple of times about that but wall of silence, though seems he is quite happy to trot out on a stream when there is fresh snake oil to be sold.

    Have running sounds been fixed?

Why has every thread mentioning them been ignored?

Is anyone actually going to listen to these concerns?

Does anyone working on this actually know what they sound like?

How long has this been in development?

Why trust Rivet with such a thing when they never fix, or even acknowledge, anything?

Will you again ignore questions about running sounds people have been asking in this thread?

Will the timetable be like all other Rivet timetables?

Question for both Dovetail and rivet, can you please read this in regards to the Fife circle 170 running sounds and your complete lack of response and failure to fix:

    https://userpilot.com/blog/poor-customer-experience/

Once you've read that can you understand why we're annoyed about the fact you have broken a fairly major part of a DLC we have paid for, with our money, which worked at launch and not only have you not fixed it, you've completely ignored every thread and every post about it.

    Haha, yes seriously.

Is it acceptable to buy something from a company who then break it, won't fix it and ignore all feedback about it?

Okay, i take back some of the stuff i said above!

The dlc looks pretty good and I'm tempted.... if the Fife 170 also gets updated to have suspension and working running sounds I'll be happy.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of feedback until now for the Fife 170 and also, why has it taken so long??

    I'll stop moaning now :)

Rivet always follow the same pattern unfortunately, go silent for months & then talk about fixes when they’re selling something else.

Fortunately for them in this case, it seems an external modder has done the heavy work on the TT, using the existing one, so not too much room for error here.

Folks, I'll be getting timestamping done for the Q+A tomorrow but we answered some of these on the livestream.

I'm going to lock the thread as it has turned into a discussion, so please continue any discussions on the first look article (which I've linked in the first post) so we can track it better. But I do encourage you to take a look at the Q+A section of the stream tonight if you're curious.

    Timetable Q&A

Q: Does the CrossCountry 170 stand in for Voyager services?
A: No, any services operated by a Voyager in real life are left out, so if we get a Voyager in the future we can add them using the correct train.

Q: Is the timetable (including all AI at Birmingham New Street) a 1:1 replica of the 2019 timetable?
A: Yes. All services come from the Working Timetable, including all intermediate station times. If you watch traffic carefully at New Street especially around rush hours, you'll notice the real-life service patterns mostly repeat but have slight variations in departure times, off-route "virtual" destinations, platform usage, and stopping patterns. See if you can find the two WMR Class 170 services which are uncoupled in the station!

Q: Are timetable timings true to life, or simulated?
A: All timings are from the Working Timetable. The only departure from reality is that CrossCountry services stop at Bromsgrove in order to be playable, but these timings were manually calculated, not simulated.

Q: Are there any plans to layer the new trains, particularly the CrossCountry one, on other routes?
A: No other timetables are being changed as part of this release. However, it is available to layer into future timetable projects.

Q: Are there any plans to introduce more gameplay packs like this in the future, bringing timetable improvements to older routes?
A: Yes, Tyler has done three other timetables for unannounced projects on existing routes. We won't leak any more information today, though!

Q: Is the new timetable separate?
A: Yes, it's a copy of the route timetable with services added, using timetable data from the same Working Timetable document. All services from the original timetable are playable in the new one.

Q: There is a service early in the morning that runs to Longbridge platform 2, then goes into the reversing siding, and into platform 1. The siding shunt is both ways AI currently. Is this/can this be made playable please?
A: It's too late to change anything before release, but this has been added to the list of post-release fixes. In the meantime, if you want to use the turnback siding, you can drive 5P02, 2N28, 2N40, or 2N99.

Q: Is the Aston cat a new addition, or was it there already?
A: The cat was always part of the route, and there's at least one other at a different station.

Q: The Fife Circle 170 has automatic announcements. Do these also have announcements?
A: No. Our implementation of auto announcer on Fife Circle requires the route to have invisible trigger points attached to the track, to tell the train to play each announcement — think of an invisible AWS magnet. Birmingham Cross-City does not have these triggers.

    Sounds Q&A
Q: Have the 170 running sounds been improved/fixed?
A: Yes, we have heard the feedback and improved the running sounds. The internal running sounds have had a complete overhaul and authentic sounds from a 170 have been implemented. This alongside the creaks add ambience to the 170 whereas before it was quite silent in the cab.

Q: Will the ScotRail Class 170 get the updated sounds?
A: Yes, all sound fixes/additions were made to the Fife Circle 170 before working on the Cross City 170s. We do not have a release date for this update.

    Sound improvement changelog:
    · Door sound trigger logic reimplemented so the alarm now triggers at the correct times when opening/closing the door.
    · Removed clicks and artefacts out of engine sounds
    · Adjusted flange sound occlusion should sound better when in the cab now
    · Removed track whine audio causing weird sound above 85mph

Fife Circle has auto announcements, BCC does not. We've worked on some fixes for Fife Circle which are waiting on release:
o Fixed attenuation on auto announcer so you can't hear it from another train (fife circle exclusive)
o Fixed how the announcement sounds trigger so they will trigger across every coach in the consist and not just the first three. (fife circle exclusive)

    Setup Q&A
Q: Will the Fife Circle 170 have suspension?
A: We have implemented it into the Cross City version and plan to hopefully implement it back into the Fife Circle version in future.

Q: Any other features added to the Class 170?
A: We added a Hill Start feature, useful to prevent rolling backwards when starting a train at Bromsgrove.

    Route Q&A
Q: Any thoughts about extending BCC as a new route? If you’re already making a new timetable...
A: No plans at this time. This is a loco pack DLC, a route is a much bigger project.

Q: Has the issue of glowing benches at Birmingham New Street been fixed with this pack?
A: We're going to take a look at potential improvements for Birmingham New Street after further feedback during the stream. However, please bear in mind that we can't promise a timeline on this.

    Workflow Q&A
Q: As DTG and other developers begin to work together more, hypothetically could DTG possibly use Rivets help to implement the older Adtranz style headlight clusters to the some of the 377/1 models?
A: No plans to update older models at this time.

Q: Can you provide more information about the 'platform visualization tool' mentioned in the article?
A: Answered in detail on the stream.
