Instead of DTG removing all Caltrain content, couldn't they just unbranded it? Like, remove all of the logos and liscencing and just keep the paint schemes. They did it with the WCML 350 and they are doing it with the GWE Remaster, so why not Caltrain?

That’s not a simple solution, and it might not even be allowed. This is obviously described in the agreement between DTG and the license holder. It could very well be that this is possible with the London Northwestern Railway, but not with other granted licenses. DTG has also announced on the forums that they’re investigating the matter, but it’s not just a simple case of removing the logos and transferring the product to TSW6. Moreover, it's also an issue when migrating an old add-on to TSW6, as the license holder may see that as a backdoor to covertly profit from it again even though the license has clearly expired, which would mean that no further income may be generated from that product, even if the logos and recognizable features have been removed.

On the case of Caltrain it may not just be the trains but depiction of the route, too. With the UK the majority of the infrastructure falls under Network Rail (formerly Railtrack) with whom I presume DTG have a good working relationship. However in the US, and happy to be corrected, but where the passenger operators are not exercising running rights over a freight company owned section of line, they own it themselves?

It is a simple answer. Yes, it is possible. If its possible with LNWR, then its possible with Caltrain. DTG dont need a license to use a paint scheme, they just need the license for branding. And since they dont have the licensing anymore, this is no way Caltrain might sse this as a backdoor.

Interesting... Normally people ask things when they don’t know the answer... But what you’re doing is asking for something you already know...
    Such a pointless thread...

Lirr 2.0 is a good example of mta having control over the license. Even though it's not the loss of a license, mta made dtg take out certain panels and simplify procedures.

Caltrain could possibly request the same thing.

It's not always about just the branding and paint.

It could be the entire product

We just remove all Caltrain logos and branding and then that's it. Like I said, they did it with the LNWR 350, so why cant they do it for a whole route and two addons?

As explained, there may be other aspects of the route Caltrain no longer want in the public domain. The situation is obviously quite a complex one for DTG to resolve.

just because one operator does something does not mean every single operator does the same thing. Every operator has their own decisions. Some want train elements to be removed like mta with lirr 2.0 (removed door panels and simplified procedures). Some want logos removed. Every operator is unique
