I tried this route for the first time a couple of evenings ago, and I'm a little confused about speed limits on it.
It seems, especially in tunnel sections, the speed limit reduces without this being shown on the UI (I have upcoming signals and speed limit changes on), and I also don't see any speed limit signs.
Can anyone explain to me exactly what is going on please, as it's left me a bit confused.
    Cheers!

It’s the French TVM signalling system. You can read about it here

Game UI only shows constant track speed limit. What you see is most likely speed limits enforced by TVM safety system. They can dynamically change and therefore not visible on the HUD.

To properly understand how TVM works and what it shows you I would advise watching video below, at least the part with the presentation between 58:16 and 1:08:54. The rest of the video is an example ride that shows everything in action.

Brilliant, thank you both! I'll check those links out and hopefully things will become clearer.

Yes, this occurs on other routes. Says 100 mph for example and yet the hud never changes to reflect this, say driving a pacer which is limited to 75mph. It all depends on max speed of loco etc.
