Be honest do you find yourselves bored while playing TSW. Do you some how lose entrance when some thing goes wrong. Etc crashes. How often do you play other games due to the frustration of error in tsw. Which tsw game seem to be complete to you. Tsw 1+2 seem to work out great due to it fresh start of the franchise. Beside TSW which other simulator would you end up playing if TSW doesn’t satisfy you. Boredom can set in extremely fast when nothing goes to plain.
Where is the poll? I would have to say it varies. After completing the monthly mastery I’m taking a bit of a break and have actually dusted off Farming Simulator 25. With a few patches and some good mod maps it is actually now quite playable. Getting to grips with Oak Bridge Farm which is a nice UK map. So much to do including planning ahead - do you want to keep your fields arable or start working on animal husbandry . That field of grass, do you mow then ted it for hay, or bale then wrap to make silage which you can run up to the Biofuel plant (which on Oak Bridge you own!). You can also set up a mini industry supply chain, make your own flour from wheat which then moves over to the bakery and create bread etc. Far more immersive than going A to B in TSW, no matter how well made the route or iconic the train. Even the Class 86 on WCML I needed a break from.
To be honest - no I don't find myself getting bored that much when using TSW. Maybe I am lucky since I haven't expereienced many game breaking problems over the years. If I run into a timetable or scenario that goes south for some reason, I will usually do a bit of research to see if others have experienced the problem and if so is there a work around. If so then apply the workaround, if not move to the next activity. So not really frustrated - Never been much on the "scoring" system in either TSC or TSW so failing to get a tick mark for finishing a run has never been high on my list - but rather did I enjoy the run itself. Are there time I don't feel like using the simulation - sure. Is that because of boredom? -- not really - just want to go fly, kill orcs or something else for a while -- then after those itches have been scratched - move back to the train sims. I have been an constent user of TSC since 2009 and TSW ever since Sandpatch was released, BUT they are not my only ineterest. And to be fair, I have expereinced way more frustration in Flight Simulator titles than ever in the train simulators - but that is another topic.
Just blast away with your remarks. This is uh written poll. Your likes and dislikes . Who cares. Just come out say anything. Blast away.
The only time I get bored is when the crashes take effect immediately. Not just once not twice or maybe not the third time. But yes it overwhelming to the core of magnetron on steroids. But once again I guess it due to the newer model of route. Or the number of dlc. Or how the call it the layers. My bored is due to the unnecessary crashes. Notice how the fading of the shadows that seem to not bother me. Kinda bitter that nothing just spit it out. well I have enough dlc. I simply just play older route needless to say updated older route not bad. But then again who cares. I’ll wait until TSW6 come out. And probably end up getting the early access In which that is the deluxe version. may way of saying so let it be done so let it be written. Baggers can’t be chooser.
If the game crashes almost on the end of a service, it's not really satisfying and this will result in playing less often. I do still own TSW2 on my current platform and tried it lately, however there are also many things fixed and changed in a good way in newer versions.
Yeah most certainly there are some things that are fixed thus that why I continue to play it. Well yes the amount of crystal dollars I put into it. Which is almost certainly an upper cut if nothing goes to plain. But then again there are other titles.
Oh alrighty. I get bored playing commuter bus stop routes. Or should I say I would get bored if I actually bothered with them.
I normally only get bored if it’s a electric bus stop route or if I’m stuck waiting a signal for more then 5 minutes aka west coast main line 1980s with freight (ps still love the route but god damn it can get boring waiting for the other train to pass me)
If I get bored, then that just means I've been playing it too much. I then turn my attention to something else for a bit. Boredom's natural. For anything. Of course someone will get bored with TSW, because if you spend too much time with something, you will naturally become bored with it.
Many games are intrinsically boring. Doing a long haul flight on MSFS (any version) particularly if over the sea and on autopilot. At least on the real thing as a passenger you can enjoy your meal, listen to music or read a book. The truck sims, can get a bit wearisome pounding up and down the same sections of interstate or motorways in Europe. I’m currently enjoying FS25, but cropping grass in a huge field with a small mower and baler, driving in ever decreasing circles was starting to get me thinking should I fire up TSW for a quick bit of Class 86 action. Even FPS have boredom thresholds, particularly those where you’ve unalived all the enemies but then wander round endlessly because you can’t find that one hidden object or keycard you need to move on. Mass Effect 2, grabbing minerals from planets with that little sub game. First time round, yeah okay. Subsequent playthroughs it was, “Do I have to?” Still on Mass Effect, ME1 the early stages where you had to do numerous side missions on the Citadel before heading out on the Normandy, became an intense grind. Some games managed to combine the grind with other aspects so it didn’t get tedious. The obvious one that springs to mind is the graffiti tags in GTA SA. Intrinsically tedious, but as you were travelling around it was subtly strengthening CJ’s walking and driving attributes plus the odd bit of combat when you encountered the Ballas or other gangs while tagging.
I've recently managed to get addicted to Rimworld. I've had it a few years but never really got into it but the recent odyssey DLC managed to get me stuck in. My current colony is mostly stable and mostly managing to cope with every disaster thrown at it so far. The current problem is the amount of chickens being born in my barn means I'm either having to produce kibble to feed them all plus the couple of horses I use for caravans. Doing that means being not able to produce meals for the colony. Or I'm able to produce meals for the colony but then the chickens will starve and I won't have any chickens to turn into meals for the colony and no horses for going on trips. Once that's settled, I just need to get some better armour and weapons produced so I can send out a caravan to get some more materials to finish my ship. As long as the caravan survive the journey there and back that is. Or there isn't another storm and multiple fires being started by lightning strikes start burning everything down. Or my crops don't get blight. Or I don't get raided. Or the colonists don't start fighting each other again over an argument.
I know the feeling… I congratulated myself on getting £50k for my field of canola in FS25. Then paid £15k to service my tractor and £18k to service the combine harvester and that’s before buying some more diesel to refill the tanks.
I'm tempted to start another farm in Fs25. I played a few hundred hours on riverbend when it launched but got burnt out by the time the nexat dlc dropped. I sold the combine, planter, sower etc and bought the nexat then realised it was too big to drive around some of the roads on that map and lost interest. It's a shame the Calmsden map is slightly broken at the moment on Xbox (none of the roads exist, just gravel) as I'd love to give that a go. The new Scotland dlc due in November looks good though!
Already preordered the Scottish DLC, the fishing sounds like it will be both rod and net based. Calmsden/Oak Bridge okay on PC then though a few things missing such as no fuel service station which means you need to work out how to refill the diesel tanks on the farm. One to rival DTG’s semi abandoned fishing titles. Gaming is best when you mix things up a little bit.
Annoyance and frustration more than boredom. I fancy a quick go. Loading takes a while. Then either I or it does something wrong and my patience runs out. Or I accidentally pick a night scenario which is pitch black. Not complaining as it's partially my fault, but it can become a hassle and joyless.
I haven't played TSW for 4 months since I have lacked the mood for it. The newer routes have been somewhat mediocre (in my books) and there needs to be a big one like Hastings to London Charing Cross as part of some kind of Rush Hour 2.0 DLC with significant improvements to NPCs. Yes, the entire route is 1 hour 46 minutes, but you can do London to Tunbridge Wells in a 465, Hastings to Tonbridge as part of the 1066 Line or the full route.
That what you call critical break down. Yes I do understand the frustration. That word frustration. That DTG uses is actually the motto of everyday life of crashes. Surly unavoidable. But boredom set in. But increases as it feel inevitable.
I always have an alternate to TSW if I become bored with it. At the moment it's " Syberia: Amerzone ". It's usually something completely different from trains.
For me it depends on my state of mind when I'm playing- I don't find TSW boring at all, but then I usually only do one or two timetable runs then close it down and on to other games. I can, at times, put in six or more hours in Run 8 on a mainline run and not be bored- I have music quietly playing in the background and the RailroadRadio.net channel for Lancaster/Tehachapi on, listening to the real railroad radio chatter. I also tend to binge games- I'll solely play, say Monster Hunter Wilds, for days at a time to the exclusion of anything else, then suddenly I'm bored, moving on to a sci-fi game etc. But short bursts of TSW is my jam. The only aspect of TSW I have a problem with is the amount of choice for a starting run...kinda like the proverbial fat kid in the candy shop with only a few pence to spend.
This is not a question, just a request; get the XC one layered onto MML please. Cross-sale opportunities for DTG, Rivet and Skyhook. It's a no-brainer.
Last night I started at elephant & castle on the bakerloo, got to queen's park and decided to switch to wcmls. No route hope so had to exit to the menu and start at queen's park. I then realised the time tables don't align, the train I thought was the same service I left actually terminated in the carriage shed. After a few restarts I took over a service to harrow and wealdstone. Straight away I realised the 1972 stock on wcmls drives completely different to the 1972 stock from the bakerloo line? Arrived at Harrow and wealdstone, let the passengers off, stabled the train in the siding, noticed the passengers still on the train. Was waiting at Harrow and wealdstone to take over a 710 to Watford Jct when my train that I'd stabled and shut down rolled passed the signal and ended my session! By this time I was bored and frustrated, closed tsw and played roadcraft.
Do I find it boring? No, not if I fancy driving a train. I play a few other simulation-type games (mostly Football Manager and MS Flight Simulator) so it really depends what mood I'm in. The most common reason for abandoning a drive is because one of my cats won't leave me alone and is spoiling the immersion. Though I have to admit if I'm not feeling sleepy by midnight I'll do a night-time drive to make me sleepy. Not because I'm bored, but because the concentration needed and the soothing sounds of driving combine to make me tired. I've hit so many buffers at the end of the line though, I'm not sure why I manage to stay awake for an hour only to nod-off with only a 100 metres left to drive.
For me TSW was always a sandbox alternative to my daily work in the railway sector. Having a relaxed experience away from the stress. So i get frustrated when i discover lost opportunities or shortcuts in tsw, but not in a way that it affects my mood in general .
Many games can get boring after a while. I haven't really gotten bored with TSW. I'm not a train driver IRL, so many things are new to me. I like reading the manuals and trying to learn the signals, signs, etc. I was on a route free roam and was spawning trains for the first time. I eventually started spawning US diesel locos to see which horns sound like the trains passing near where I live. I put on the bell for one of them, left it running, and wandered away. Eventually I ended up wandering back to the same area and the train was still there. I could hear the bell still ringing as I approached. Cool.
