The "Marschbahn" with the married pair wagons would be a very great route dlc for Train Sim World 4! It is important that the entire route from Hamburg Altona to Westerland is mapped. Even if the route is very long, I think DTG owes us a large route in northern Germany, as so far there is only Hamburg Lübeck, which is very poorly implemented. Many parts of the line are easy to build, no big cities are on the route except of course the starting point Hamburg. The whole thing offers a good opportunity for further DLCs for the "Marschbahn" (e.g. Br 622 or Br 218 with car trains and IC wagons). Bumping this thread since I came across a neat video from TheTrainTV about this route: (turn on the AI auto-translate, it does a decent job.) Absolutely gorgeous scenery, unique for Germany, and includes a branch line across the Danish border to Tønder where it connects to rest of the Danish network. This would be a showcase for the 218 and it could come bundled with the 245 as reflected in the image above. Let’s make it happen folks.
Bumping it again, I've just left Sylt. Operations are special, unique and highly fun! There is so much going on! Maybe from Itzehoe to Westerland (Sylt) would be enough. The exchange of engines at Itzehoe and Niebull. The two different types of car carriers. A Le Shuttle kinda operation! Even small freight operations. Single and double track. And of course the Hindenburgdamm and the Hochdonn Bridge. If the NAH (Nahverkehrsverbund Schleswig-Holstein GmbH) license could be obtained, that would be even more great! Also Hamburg - Lübeck could benefit from it! This really would be an interesting route! When I am back home, let me add some pictures I took!
Okay, some pictures and a small video! IC from Cologne towards Westerland (Sylt) via Itzehoe (Marschbahn). The Hindenburgdamm: Video first, to show the awesomeness: https://i.imgur.com/vpWN9qr.mp4
I remember when I suggested this a few months ago, and it was also very well received But a few players wouldn't like it because its to "basic"
And at Itzehoe: Because the sound of Br218s pulling up never disappoints: https://i.imgur.com/Ys7X3HU.mp4 ...as well as the Br101 coming to pick it up: https://i.imgur.com/jtxxaxW.mp4
Why now...you would ask? Because they are going to electrify the complete track from Itzehoe to Westerland (https://db-engineering-consulting.com/en/updates/kick-off-for-the-electrification-of-the-marschbahn/). It will be a lot LESS interesting operation wise.
These players have NO idea what they are saying...it is probably one of the least basic routes in passenger services in Germany right now (since the cessation of operations at the Fehmarnbelt).
I wholeheartedly agree. This would add some much needed variety to TSW's German route roster. It's very scenic (Hindenburg dam and Hochdonn bridge being just some of the highlights), and offers something for every taste (freight, regional, fast trains, shunting, the motorail services...). Also it's a diesel route, and the perfect stage for the 218
And for the people who like more electric locomotives part of the route is electrified and the expert 101 would fit perfectly in and we could’ve get a BR 245 a modern German diesel locomotive.
Diesel Traxx would be pretty good, haven't been much of a fan of the 218 or the 642 so it'd be a nice locomotive to drive onto maintalbahn. The area outlined here, is also quite beautiful.
