So I was just running a Barry Island - Bargeod 150 service on Cardiff City Network where I found this 08 next to a class 66 and 150

As I’m not from Cardiff, I found this odd. Is there a chance that someone could tell me why this 08 is here?

Not sure on the background but there is one there in reality. Probably used for dragging units that can't move under their own power. There's a few still hanging around various depots. First Capital Connect had a Class 03 named Clive (now preserved on the Nene Valley Railway)

Edit: it's on Google Maps 3D view appearing to be pulling some steel wagons.

There is one there in real life, it is used for shunting various things around the depot. It’s 08498 i believe.

Your be surprised where you might find a class 08 in the UK. There's a couple I know of tucked away in sheds that don't even have a railway anymore.
There was so many built, they was practically giving them away at one point.

When canton was a old school depot there was loads of 08's and 09's always around on shed, used to spend hours on the footbridge that led into the place spotting a right assortment of classes back in my late teens and early twenties......

Not a surprising place, but I was on holiday in Penzance last month and, with my other half, had a walk up to Marazion along the coastal path that runs next to the line for quite a bit, including past the GWR depot. At one point, I said "oh, look, a class 08".

She gave me a strange look and I mumbled something like "well, I know it from the game..."

That wasn't Canton old school. ;)
That was back when my late dad used to stand on that very same bridge, watching the steam loco's in the 1930's.

Last time I went, couple of years ago just to see what happened since the depot closed from my younger years, that bridge doesn't even exist anymore it was just houses where that little stub of road was leading to it.....

I was looking for a video that's probably deleted due to health and safety. Found this instead

Reminds me of my days at the mill, would push the train and get it moving then run around it, stop it and shunt it back up the line to be coupled to a pair of drs or ews 37s.
