Sounds like they only connected one of the 170's to the EHC file. Just need to connect the other 3. Should be a quick fix.
Yeah that’s another thing about this pack, there isn’t much in the way of actually driving the train outside of the 10 mile sprint. The Derby to Nottingham services would have been an easy win. I think if these packs at this pricing will ever take off, it will be once they actually layer into multiple places. Skyhook have been pretty good with doing layered timetables though, hopefully they’ll save us.
Another Rivet Games product that fails on all fronts! Especially the sound is absolutely bizarre, and if you go faster than 85, the train seems to lift off... What you hear then is just unreal. A fun start, but definitely not worth 16 euros. Shame, but unfortunately I've already requested a refund. Rivet probably never learns. After months under the radar, they still couldn't deliver a product at a decent level. I really wonder what quality standards Rivet sets for its products. You can't seriously call this good quality... Whatever Rivet releases, it's just bizar bad...... With a lot of bugs! So here an advise.... Do not spend you're money on this product and wait for thursday
CFTFC, looked in the folder I keep pak files in and no train.pak. Is it available at TSC, I have searched over there to no avail.
Sounds in TSW on the whole are incredibly poor and inconsistent. I’m not just talking about the authenticity of the sounds, but the sound levels too. An awful lot of work needs to be done on sound to: It’s authentic It’s correctly balanced both inside & out Consistent across ALL content It’s not too much to ask for I don’t believe given that TSW is supposed to be a realistic simulator.
OK, went back and downloaded the file again and replaced the one I have, but will this cure the issue with 3 of the 4 170s from Rivet not working with Rail Driver.
Enjoying this on PS5 pro… PIS patch has pulled though and sounds great / looks great; just taking it out one on of the XC runs and getting fast running but adverse aspects as well… good for me so far!
Textures seem to fluctuate between being normal and being blurry when driving the xc 170, the wmr one is fine, although that only seemed to happen on cross-city, running it in freeroam on mml (to replicate the Nottingham to Derby portion) it was fine Also the in-cab unit numbering of the the wmr 170/5 is broken, the all seem to be 170 408, and the yellow sticker to the right of the driver says 0 cars for some reason (These are on series s btw)
Disappointed but not surprised. This pack shouldve been a big red flag when the XC /1 ans 3s were obsolete. But I needed Cross City to have some life and I love the 170. WMT class 170 very clearly has the EMR branded safety info on the cab door. Interior sounds are abysmal (and that whine they said theyd fix is still there. I know it whines IRL but no where near that loud or annoyingly). Random ambient and running sounds just appearing, amplifying 10 fold, and disapearing depending on throttle position. Usually Idle is loud and power/brake is silence Selecting B3 on the PBC has no audio The door power key near the PBC disappears when turned on Exterior sounds while affected by the above issues are actually very good and the start up / shut down audio is crisp and correct. Livery designer is missing both XC variants and the WMT 170/5, meaning we are forced to do the green interior 3 car 170 The AI class 170s do the exact same as the Scotrail 158s and rev up like a boy racer even though theyre in a 10mph limit on the flat grade of the platform. On the little yellow strip on the left wall of the cab and on the right wall above the smoking sign, my 170502 seems to think its 170408, and in a 0 coach formation... Another Rivet Games addon, cant say I expected any more. Doubt we'll get a patch anytime soon.
Congrats, you fixed the PIS! The texture bug however is now worse. For the love of god it’s been 2 years, no more excuses, get it fixed.
Liked this quite a bit. As you can tell from my avatar picture, I'm a fan of British DMUs! Hopefully will see some real life ones again soon. I did notice that no passengers seemed to board my train in the one run I took. Steam/PC.
Xbox one here- there’s some funny suspension vibration that makes both variants near undrivable. Seems to affect the bogies and cab but not the body shell. Haven’t been with my series x but will see if it is replicated on there too in the next couple of days. Otherwise fairly happy with the train (even if I didn’t get game pass discount when I bought it this morning )
I do hope this happens- much as I really like midland main line I do think some more traction is needed- the xc 170 will do nicely (but I can dream of a meridian )
After reading the feedback so far this is a hard pass. I didn't expect much from Rivet at all and I'm pretty sure no one does really. For a fully priced DLC with loads of eyesores within the first MINUTE of playing with the add on is absolutely unacceptable. You cannot tell me this is being tested, there's just no way. I mean how do you let a PIS issue slip through? It's on the damn train for crying out loud. As soon as you enter exterior camera, boom there it is. Mark that down as a fix before release. I wish they'd do what they did with MBTA Commuter with more DLC and delay content that needs additional time to make improvements and keep up with the TSW5 standard. I don't know any company that likes to release content and have to immediately double back to fix bugs that are this obvious. Having to immediately push out a patch instead of testing the damn thing before it hits the sales floor. It really does feel like we are beta testers instead of customers. This has me very worried about TSW6 and how the standard for that game will decrease and bugs at first sight will persist. Unbelievable.
First play, spotted a service leaving New Street towards Bromsgrove which just vanished between there and Five Ways. Xbox Series X. Edit: Wasn’t able to recreate this issue.
The feedback on this add-on is horrendous, think I’ll be giving this one a miss. The only thing that was a deal breaker for me was the sounds, clearly very little has been improved from the 170 ScotsRail. I hope Rivet can release a patch soon to address the issues mentioned by others, but I’m not holding my breath. If the improvements come I will part with my money.
Can't find the feedback general thread for BCC but would be nice if we could get a route patch to fix the glowing benches and the light baking of the OHLE in the tunnels near BHM NS
I was looking forward to this one, bringing some more life onto the Birmingham route. But boy, does it look missmanaged once again. If you're patching stuff like AI PIS panels last minute, then I trully have to wonder what's the general state of the product... and how many issue were found by Q&A but not fixed becasue of time constrains...
Yes, however the way that DLC is made ‘digital first’ means that right up until the last day it’s being worked on. Becoming a more seasoned TSW player / forum poster I’ve learnt to expect a bumpy start to most, if not all, add-ons now. The fact that this one was patched within about 6 hours after release on console is, by TSW5 standards, pretty good going. Also, personally I’ll try to hold back ‘core issue’ related criticisms / feedback until this can be played on TSW6, where hopefully those issues aren’t a thing!
There also appears to be no smoke coming from the exhaust on the train you are driving. It is only visible on AI trains.
Matt said on the 170 preview stream multiple times that ""nothing has changed to the original BCC route, nor do we have any current plans to alter or update the route in any way""
Layering into other routes requires that routes timetable to have those layers added. They don't just magically appear when a new train is released. Skyhook said they currently have no advertised plans to modify the MML timetable to add 170's.
Alot of this "feed back" has been dealt with in the patch. I think one of the things that hasnt has been fixed is the 170 where it diverts to the left after Bourneville station. Hopefully they will fix it. Although during my time playing it the only problems I had was the lack of PIS on the 170 (OOS) and the blank destinations on the Stations PIS. I also had crast to the front end whilst in my livestream yesterday driving the Pendolino ECS into Birmingham New Street. Not entirely sure why. I tried that service again last night (after finally installing the patch around 8pm) and it went ok with out a hitch. Overall a good release ableit the off route 170's Hentis
DTG Harry DTG Alex DTG Matt DTG Jamie DTG JD So, against my better judgement given the feedback, I went ahead and purchased this DLC this morning. The very first service I select, the 2016 Lichfield Trent to Bromsgrove service, fails almost immediately because I’m unable to get into Blake Street Platform 1 due to an ‘Off Path’ train already at the platform (see photo). This is absolutely ridiculous. Was any testing done on this before release?
Which is a bit unfortunate because now I'm confused on how they choose which route gets track shadow improvements. I mean not too long ago Horseshoe Curve and Cane Creek earned their track shadow improvements instead of maybe the Fife Circle, Birmingham Cross City, Long Island Railroad Commuter, or Manchester Airport Commuter... It feels like they have a bucket with tickets and whichever route they blindly select gets the shadowing.....
Lovely pack overall, much needed update to the sounds and timetable however I have a couple suggestions for improvement: 1. The 170 needs to rev up considerably faster. This was an issue on the WCL 150 as well; diesel hydraulic units do rev up to speed very fast, they just take a second for the power to apply because of the torque converter. The sounds themselves are decent, they just need to be sped up in response to notches being applied. 2. More bass and turbo especially needed in the sounds - real 170s can be almost grating in this regard lol
Yep, but why is it breaking and going off path in the first place? I thought they were supposed to simulate the entire timetable with issues being flagged when doing so. Given that it was the very first service I tried, I was either extremely unlucky or it’s not the only broken service.
Then, why buy it? All we ever see on these forums is the constantly negative feedback for Rivet, so I don’t know what this achieves when people are happy to buy it. So after feedback, the livestreams, surely that’s an indication. Personally I don’t buy into all the Rivet-bashing but this can’t be a surprise to people what to expect now? For me, usually for any UK DLC I’d purchase on the dot at 1800 but I held off a few hours. It just didn’t standout to me. The timetable is the positive, and it’s absolutely fantastic and made the route feel very much alive. The 170 itself, both liveries are implemented superbly With and I can there’s tell a slight improvement in the sounds but nothing spectacular but the running sounds about 85mph are horrendous! I think I’d say a 5 / 10 for this pack. I’m glad I got the 10% discount and if it wasn’t for the timetable this would be a DLC firmly left on the shelf.
