All the experience i have with train sim world so far was on pc with the free stuff like the training centre. but my pc doesn't have enough space for tsw 5 and other games at the same time. So i decided to buy it on the ps4. i went with the standard edition, does anyone have some tips and tricks?

    Sell your PS4 and get a PS5

Unless you have a laptop, you could've definitely gotten a new SSD.
Because a PS4 in the big 2025 is kinda crazy.

Not sure why you opted for a PS4. 8th gen is the worse area to fully enjoy this game.
You’ll be missing out on a lot of newer content also, as the majority of it is exclusive to 9th gen and PC only.

As long as you play older routes, you are fine on a gen 8 console. Once you get to (half way) the TSW4 era, it gets a bit choppy.

Oh, and when playing newer routes (like the 3 base TSW 5 routes) play on HD instead of 4k, and disable layers when necessary.

Holding 'square' opens up a range of other buttons, for example the second tone on a two tone horn, R1/R2 change cruise control / AFB, d-pad buttons to release PZB, the full list can be found under 'operations shift' on the settings menu.

If you are wanting to retain a more PC-like experience, it's worth noting that you can connect a USB keyboard to your PS4 and the normal keyboard controls will work.

Unfortunately there's no long term future for TSW on the PS4, so maybe you should keep it on the PC and use the console for other games.

Of course this depends on how capable your PC is. Even PCs are subject to becoming less and less capable as time goes by.

First thing I do when I buy a new laptop is install a bigger SSD in the primary slot, and a second one in the secondary slot.

The PS4 isn't such bad. There are around 80 routes for TSW. And 99 of them are for PS4 too. Sure some routes have reduced timetables. But you have that on the newest German route (S-Bahn Frankfurt) on PS5 too. It's so reduced, that that route looks on PS5 empty.

I bought my PS5 especially for the longer american freight trains, and then DTG didn't brought out a new american freight route.

And stuttering you have on PS5 too.

Small steps I guess then bud. When you have the budget to work with I would definitely upgrade to the PS5 though, you will see a big difference.
More in terms of graphic fidelity though, inconsistent fps, lag spikes (performance issues) are present across all platforms unfortunately. This you probably know already.

I just recently upgraded to a PS5 Pro and I notice a small improvement on graphics, all thanks to the PSSR tech in the pro. It doesn’t enhance non ps5 pro enhanced/standard PS5 games incredibly, but I do notice a small difference from playing TSW on the base PS5. I think my tv helps with the detail in the picture also. I use my Pro with a Sony Bravia (2024 model). It has a lot of features which improve the picture.

I have to game on a older model samsung tv from i think 2010 i don't even have HDR, just HD ready. So eventually buying a better tv might help too.
