NUR IN DEUTSCH! / ONLY IN GERMAN! Die Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr ist eine der wichtigsten Bahnstrecken in NRW, wenn nicht sogar in ganz deutschland. Man findet dort Züge aller Art und es wäre eine der vielseitigsten Strecken in ganz TSW. Die Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr ist in einem begrenztem Abschnitt in TSW bereits vorhanden, und kam schon 2019 auf den Markt. Im Folgenden werde ich die hier unten aufgeführten Punkte schritt für Schritt durchgehen. - Die bestehende Strecke - Die neue Strecke - Stationen an der Strecke - Mögliche Bahnlinien (sowohl nah als auch Fernverkehr) - Mögliche Farhzeuge - Wahrscheinlichkeit für TSW6 Die mit einem (!) markierten Stellen sind faktoren die gegen ein solches DLC sprechen! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Die Bestehende Strecke Wie eben angesprhcen gibt es bereits die Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr. Der aktuell bestehende Abschnitt führt uns von Duisburg Hbf über weitere große Städte wie Mülheim a. d. Ruhr und Essen nach Bochum Hbf. An der bestehenden Strecke werden folegende Haltepunkte mitgeliefert: - Duisburg Hbf - Mülheim (Ruhr) Styrum - Mülheim (Ruhr) West - Mülheim (Ruhr) Hbf - Essen Frohnhausen - Essen West - Essen Hbf - Essen Steele - Essen Steele Ost - Essen Eiberg - Wattenscheid-Höntrop - Essen Kray Süd - Wattenscheid - Bochum Ehrenfeld - Bochum Hbf Bei der Akutellen Strecke muss man außerdem einige Abstriche machen: Die Station sind nicht wirklich realistisch umgesetzt, und wirken leblos, grau und leer. Es sind viel zu wenig Personen an den Bahnhöfen unterwegs und man hat (wenn man über die Strecke fährt) überhaupt nicht das Gefühl dass man im bevölkerungsreichsten Bundesland Deutschlands unterwegs ist. In Realität sieht dies deutlich anders aus. Bahnhöfe sind (insbesondere bei Fußballspielen z. B. Schalke 04) besonders überfüllt, und die Bahnhöfe sehen alle unterschiedlich aus. Das hat man in neueren TSW Strecken deutlich besser hinbekommen. Beispiele hierfür sind die Kinzigtalbahn (Frankfurt-Fulda) und die S Bahn Frankfurt Strecke. In der HRR hat man das Gefühl, jeder Bahnhof würde gleich aussehen. Außerdem ist die Szenerie rund um die Gleise und um die Strecke herum nicht sehr gelungen. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Die neue Strecke Es gibt viele möglichkeiten wie man eine HRR 2.0 umsetzen könnte. Man könnte die Strecke z.B nur nach Düsseldorf erweitern, dafür aber Abschnitt über Gelsenkirchen, Herne usw hinzufügen. Ich halte es allerdings für am realistischsten, wenn die Strecke ab Duisburg in Richtung KÖLN erweitert wird und in die andere Richtung nach DORTMUND. Mit der neuen Strecke würde man also die alte, recht kurze Strecke verlängern, sodass man mehr Fahrspaß halt, man könnte aber außerdem die bestehenden Bahnhöfe verbessern, sodass diese nicht mehr alle gleich aussehen, sondern mehr wie in der Realität. Auch das Fahrgastaufkommen könnte mit einem rebuild der Strecke deutlich verbessert werden, sodass es einem wirklich so vorkommt als würde man im Ruhrgebiet unterwegs sein. Die Strecke hat unfassbar viel Potential. Darauf werde ich in späteren Abschnitten allerdings nochmal näher eingehen. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Bahnhöfe an der Strecke An der Bahnstrecke gibt es eine vielzahl an Bahnhöfen aller größen. Trains of all kinds can be found there, and it would be one of the most diverse lines in all of TSW. The Rhine-Ruhr main line already exists in a limited section of TSW, having been launched in 2019. Below, I will go through the points listed below step by step. - The existing line - The new line - Stations along the line - Possible railway lines (both local and long-distance) - Possible vehicles - Probability for TSW6 The points marked with a (!) are factors that speak against such a DLC! -------------------------------------------------------------------- The existing line As mentioned above, the Rhine-Ruhr main line already exists. The current section takes us from Duisburg Hbf via other major cities such as Mülheim a.d. Ruhr and Essen to Bochum Central Station. The following stops are included on the existing route: - Duisburg Central Station - Mülheim (Ruhr) Styrum - Mülheim (Ruhr) West - Mülheim (Ruhr) Central Station - Essen Frohnhausen - Essen West - Essen Central Station - Essen Steele - Essen Steele East - Essen Eiberg - Wattenscheid-Höntrop - Essen Kray South - Wattenscheid - Bochum Ehrenfeld - Bochum Central Station There are also some drawbacks to the current route: The stations are not realistically designed and appear lifeless, gray, and empty. There are far too few people at the stations, and (when traveling along the route) you don't get the feeling at all that you're traveling in Germany's most populous state. In reality, things are quite different. Stations are particularly crowded (especially during football matches, e.g., Schalke 04), and the stations all look different. This has been done much better on newer TSW lines. Examples include the Kinzigtalbahn (Frankfurt-Fulda) and the S-Bahn Frankfurt line. On the HRR, it feels like every station looks the same. Furthermore, the scenery around the tracks and the route itself isn't very good. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The new route There are many ways to implement an HRR 2.0. For example, you could extend the line only to Düsseldorf, but add sections via Gelsenkirchen, Herne, etc. However, I think it would be most realistic to extend the line from Duisburg towards Cologne and in the other direction to Dortmund. The new route would extend the old, relatively short route, making travel more enjoyable, but also improving the existing stations so that they no longer all look the same, but more like reality. Passenger volume could also be significantly improved with a rebuild of the line, making it truly feel like you're traveling in the Ruhr region. The line has incredible potential. I'll go into this in more detail in later sections. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Stations along the line There are numerous stations of all sizes along the line. First, I'd also like note this tendency lately, of people blatantly ignoring forum rules and post in their native language only. I'm a German native as well, but I'm annoyed by it too. It's an international forum for an international game, hosted by a British developer. And English is the international trade language after all. I won't drop dead on the spot because I have to use English every now and then... and learning/knowing different languages is always a plus In regards to the route extension: I agree. Partly. I guess no one will disagree that the current HRR is in dire need of an overhaul. I never used it that much because it's just so bland. An extension would also be welcome, since it's one of the shorter routes at this point. But I think extending it as far as proposed would be too much of a hassle. It's a nice idea, but just think of the workload. The route would basically triple in length, being longer than Frankfurt-Fulda or Linke Rheinstrecke for example. It also would include even more big cities like Düsseldorf, Köln and Dortmund along its run, which might kill performance. Also, only a couple of services use the full route, and those which do would take a looong time to complete. Counter-suggestion: Embrace the "S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr" theme and turn it into a network-style route, with Essen as its central hub Perhaps the S3 could be included, from Hattingen to Essen and on to Oberhausen. Or the S2 from Essen to Herne. Or even the S9 all the way to Wuppertal (route hopping opportunity). That would mean, not as much new territory to map out, and a nice change of scenery from urban to rural and back, adding variety. Also probably would lessen performance issues.
Good thing a translation was added so those unlike me who cannot speak German understand just how good (imo) this proposal is. However I would say the extension to Dortmund could possibly just go over the top... the distance from Köln via Düsseldorf and Duisburg to Bochum is about 110km corresponding to the length of the Kinzigtalbahn and the extension to Dortmund adds about 20km... regardless even the run Köln to Bochum would already present a hugely content packed route with countless regional and S-Bahn services as well as 5+1 ICE stops (more than any route so far where the +1 is Köln Messe/Deutz as an auxiliary terminus to Köln Hbf). The only issue that I keep coming back to is that adding this route will effectively render the old HRR worthless and I don't know if that is overly clever (imo yes but I can very much see DTG say nah this is not sensible)
An extension from Duisburg could be made up to Düsseldorf. Even when this means a 200km/h part is not included. And as far as I know, this would make too many train services for this route, which is a big trouble for console players. Because most long-distance trains start or end in Dortmund and some local trains in Düsseldorf, these would be suitable ends for an extension. The route from Düsseldorf to Köln can be its own route when made as a ring via Leverkusen and Dormagen. Or when the performances for TSW6> allow more (AI) services and players accept higher purchase prices and a longer building time, this long extension as a whole could be an option.
