I feel as if we're missing out on crucial mainlines (excluding the already existing Great Western Mainline) so I thought most railfans would enjoy a rendition of the SWML: Weymouth - Southampton Ctl. The route stops at: WEYMOUTH UPWEY DORCHESTER SOUTH MORETON WOOL WAREHAM HOLTON HEATH HAMWORTHY POOLE PARKSTONE BRANKSOME BOURNEMOUTH POKESDOWN FOR BOSCOMBE CHRISTCHURCH HINTON ADMIRAL NEW MILTON SWAY BROCKENHURST (Including the Lymington Pier Branchline) BEAULIEU ROAD ASHURST NEW FOREST TOTTON REDBRIDGE MILLBROOK SOUTHAMPTON CENTRAL As one of my previously local routes driving along this route will give me the added nostalgia of driving desiros down the South Coast. Multiple Units to include: Class 450 (Stopping Services: Bournemouth - Southampton) Class 444 (Semi-Fast & Express: Weymouth - Southampton) Class 158/159 (For Lymington Branchline Scenarios) Class 220 / 221 Voyagers (Express: Bournemouth - Southampton)[See CROSS COUNTRY EXPRESS (BOURNEMOUTH - BIRMINGHAM for more details).
This is probably my dream route, as it has varied scenery and lots of variety of services you can drive. There'd also be lots of railtours as the Swanage railway is nearby. Pretty much most major main lines have been done in TSW, the two main ones missing are GEML and SWML, so hopefully it should only be a matter of time.
I would hope they would include the Swanage railway as it isn't the longest in the world... But also the GWR class 166 could be included between Dorchester west & Dorchester south as well as it between Redbridge and Southampton central but as AI only...
Hopefully! The SWML used to be my local line so getting to run services along it would be amazing! Especially sections that were missed in the previous release in TSC (Weymouth - Bournemouth) - also with the release of the Desiro 350 units it seems plausible to bring in the 444s & 450s!
Definitely with you with the Class 166 - however that could also lead onto a follow up segment as most TSW routes always have some sort of follow up. Perhaps a much needed Southampton Central - Bristol Temple Meads would work?
