You know that TSC is also made by the same company?
If you are moving to PC there are tons of mods to improve your experience.

TSC is also now pretty much bereft of any further support or ongoing development by DTG. It's good but after the last uninstall and purge to delete unwanted carp, I still haven't got round to reinstalling it.

Anyhow, back OT, as I could rebuy Cardiff City for £21 in the bundle offer, still more than I really wanted to pay but I took the plunge anyway; I shall report whether conductor mode is working decently or not.

    Edit:
Conductor mode seemed to be working on a quick job from Cardiff to Penarth. No one on board from Central but picked up at Grangetown and Dingle Road and both times had tickets to check.

What was unnerving though, is that throughout the journey there was no visible driver avatar in the leading cab! Must be new ATO working for the Cardiff Valleys!

    Edit 2:
Anyone had issues not able to take power on the 150 after leaving the driver's seat and sitting down again? Just happened to me.

Yeah that’s why I want to move, just for the mods and routes and overall experience, I’m a big fan of AP sound packs

I must have been lucky then, as noted above.

As regards the 150 not taking power, going to call user error on that one. Couldn't replicate on a subsequent run and realised probably because I had used the single leaf crew door to exit the set, rather than just using the saloon one. And obviously the crew door doesn't close with the U or Y key, needs to be done manually. Durrr...

Anyhow sort of enjoying the route. Fulfils its purpose of being a filler but still no excuse for not building it out a bit further - Barry Island, Pontypridd and Caerphilly - and for the disgraceful cut job at Cardiff Central as regards the lower concourse and station front.

To paraphrase Matt's comments on the preview stream ""we had intended to go to Barry Island with the route, but the deadline was too short so we had to cut bits""

Exactly my thoughts. It really just isn't long enough, particularly when you compare with what the German route building team produced with the Frankfurt S-Bahn network. Selling at the full £30 price mark, absolutely more time and resources should have been allocated to the Cardiff project. I guess there's a glimmer of hope that DTG could do a SEHS or LIRR with it and push out a 2.0 at some stage, adding Barry, at least one of the full Valley Line runs in its entirety (my choice would be Rhymney for the scenery and the possibility to fudge in the old loco hauled peak workings) and a substantial portion of the rest. As it stands, more like a demo or something that was given an intern as a project who forgot about the assignment until the last minute.

It would be like getting a Bristol network with the various routes terminating at Clifton Down, Filton Abbey Wood, Keynsham and Nailsea (better not give them ideas!).

If it went to Barry Island would have added a little bit freight as well ?

Unfortunately (and we see it time and time again) the deadlines set for DLC are clearly too tight, which is why we continually see incomplete DLC that hasn't realised its potential and/or bug ridden projects that get released to satisfy the greedy person at the helm.

Even what we got does not fulfill its potential. Pulling into Radyr on a round the City Line, spied a rake of Mark 2’s hauled by a 66 in one of the other platforms. I returned to free roam, walked over to the 66 only to be told “You do not have permission to drive this train.” DTG or Rivet, can you please answer what’s the point of putting a Railtour in the timetable if it’s not available to drive? Checking the list of player driveable services in the Timetable, you can’t even choose it from there. The only Class 66 player trains are the two RHTT trips.

Wonder if it doesn't really run on the route and goes to an off route destination. Though I guess if it does pass any other stations on route, a staffing change stop could be put in

Well the 66 was on the Cardiff end of the train so it must have been heading onto the City Line or via Llandaff, not off towards Pontypridd.

    Class 153

fault: the TPWS switch in the smaller cab is labelled wrong. When I set it to “Normal”, the pop up bar says “isolated”, basically the opposite.

Is it me are all the AI HSTs, short formation? The London trains should be full length.

I can't remember exactly when the route is set, but GWR has only operated short-set HSTs for years now, and none do London services anymore.

I know, but some of the HSTs on their are clearly London services in lieu of IETs, and they are the same formation as the ones on local services.

I thought id come back and look at this just to see how the thread was when the route released and all of the issues that were noted.

it’s actually laughable that we’re in August and a lot of the issues mentioned at release have still not been fixed, really does seem like rivet did more than just the 153.

I know one of the big topics in this thread was the scenery at whitechurch looking like a mobile game, in which it still currently does.

is this route really going to end up just like WCL? I thought this route had a good amount of potential but I’ve not recalled any major updates on this route since release in march, and we’re now in mid August.

I just don’t get it, how you can release a route and literally just don’t come back to it and improve it. SHG did it with MM, took on the feedback and is now arguably, one of the best UK routes in the game for quality, attention to details. It’s also one of my personal favourites, just a beautiful vibrant route.

Probably because on release, their route builders immediately got roped into doing the UK project for TSW6. The promised sound fixes for the 150 still haven't materialised, again probably for similar reasons.

    Understandable.

but if you know you have other things to prioritise, such as a new title, then I don’t see the point in releasing a route In the first place if it won’t get any more attention, that’s just how see it but it’s not a big fuss :)

I still do think DTG should just stick with one title and build upon it rather than doing yearly games, which possible causes more issues and bugs etc.

Definitely one title and build on would be way better plus would have to keep downloading different versions of the DLC.

Literally, “Train sim X” that’ll work. You’ll have all your DLCs in one game and it allows a steady platform for DTG to build upon.

Well, they did. I don't think TSC has had annual releases for a few years now. But when it did, they didn't re-release the games like they do TSW. They only did a title update.
