In my subjective experience, as someone who has never been to Germany, I think about 90% of the German guys I have encountered have been in England XD

As far as I know, TrainSimPlay is in England for this event. I attended the first event in 2023.

Do you know how liscence agreements work?
Do you know the ins and outs of how to apply for a liscence.
Also some liscences have expiry dates to them. That means yes, when they expire that you won't be able to use the content in newer versions of the game as they no longer have the liscence to allow them to do this. When that happens it's annoying as hell. Negotiating liscences isnt like dusting crops to pun a phase. Its not something done over night either. It takes time to do and can't be done just by clicking yer fingers.

I don't live in the USA, but what I know is that the new Acela train is just being tested, although I would like to see the Airo, it really catches my attention. Looks very interesting

All well and good but what we really need is some Amtrak diesel electric trainsets, P32-8/P42DC/SC44, maybe as a scenario pack over several routes.

I Like GE P32-8BWH and GE P42DC I don't like the SC44 But if we can see a route with Amtrak diesel trains, I'm in. I would like to see an EMD F59PH. They already made the Metrolink F59PH. It would be fantastic to see that locomotive.

Maybe it's just me but anyone else find as the date approaches, far from anticipation actually experiencing a sense of foreboding? Maybe I’m burned out on TSW trying to finish the Monthly Mastery but I’m just getting the vibe that the core updates/changes and the new content might turn out to be underwhelming? I just think they are going to have to pull some real rabbits out of the hat to convince us TSW6 was actually necessary and the content pack will be a dull US commuter route, another 60km sea of DB Red and a mixed purpose modern UK electric route. (The latter built by Rivet).

I know last years leaks were wrong, but at least it kept the interest alive and produced some debate.

Same, no excitement whatsoever this year.

Last year was so disappointing. While WCML S is an ok route now, it still very buggy. I don't play Frankfurt Fulda much despite german routes being my favourite and I've uninstalled tbe US route it was so dull.

The hype got me last year and I regretted my purchase when it popped up on sale so quickly. Unless it contains one or more of : The Riviera Line, A Class 50, A Valenta HST or something in Berlin then I honestly think it'll just be the free version for me this time.

Still love the game overall and prepared to be surprised. But the whole of TSW5 has not been good for me with the exception of Just Trains releases.

Not that fussed what's coming. I haven't bought a full TSW since TSW 2.
I've tended to upgrade with either the free upgrade or for the likes of TSW 3 and 4, when they've been included with a single route.

Besides, TSW 6 will be released when my day job is very busy. Gaming takes a back seat mostly until a brief holiday over Christmas and New Year. Unless TSW6 has a route I really, really want, then I'll happily wait for a sale.

I suppose the problem is it's kind of hard to be excited when we know absolutely nothing about it. Literally the only we know is that is exists, which we already knew anyway, which just burns away any excitement. Just as this time next year'll be the approach to TSW7. (Of course I'd be extremely exited if Square Enix announced a new Nier by just saying that it's coming, but then that's because it's unexpected)

I get why they said nothing other than it's coming, of course. But even some small hint would leave it being a little more exciting and a little more anticipation. Which is what the leaks last year did. Gave something to be excited about. Of course in a little over a week it'll all change

tldr; saying that tsw6 is coming when we all already knew it doesn't make it exciting

Given the inconsistency shown by my most recent purchases, the surprisingly good HSP46 pack and the Cardiff City network which to me compares unfavorably with the Welsh routes in MSTS, I don't know what to expect from TSW6.

Hope for the best, but prepare to be disappointed I suppose.

It will take something special to persuade me to consider anything more than the free starter pack.

That's more than a little patronizing Antony.

I've said this before, but people who know something they can't reveal would be better off keeping shtum out of respect for the rest of us who are unenlightened.

I can’t imagine being excited by much other than a total overhaul of the passenger system that extends to all TSW Compatible routes, given how it’s currently the worst part of the simulation, but I think the chances of that are zero.

“Expect the unexpected” keeps being thrown around, which makes me wonder if issues like doors that won’t close or signal failures are going to make the leap from scenarios to timetable mode, but I bet that, like Conductor mode, it’ll only apply to the new routes and selected existing ones, so not really as game changing as one would hope, and will it actually work? Conductor mode was quite bugged at first.

Still, I live in hope, because it’s nice to live in hope. If my fears are proved, well, I’m busy with work and family anyway!

Expecting the unexpected has me wondering about route merges / extensions that we've always been told won't happen.

I'm wondering if "expect the unexpected" could be referring to an XC Voyager actually. I know I said before that the Rivet 170 pack, in my opinion, doesn't guarantee a 220/221 appearance, but it's what a lot of the speculation is about, and before the 170 pack, we all thought Cross Country wouldn't license, so to some extent, would count as "unexpected"

TSW5 seems to be leaving Game Pass in 30 days which would be September 16th. When TSW4 left game pass it took 7 weeks for TSW5 to release. Maybe we are looking at a later release date?

Well the next major Steam sale runs from September 29 through October 6. So what does DTG want players to empty their Steam wallets on - Steam sale or TSW6 launch bundles?

Logically TSW6 should launch before the TSW5 fire sale. But who knows?

    Timing is everything.

Or you have your big TSW6 presentation reminding everyone about all the compatible DLC, take care to point out which ones add layers to the TSW6 routes at launch, then have those on sale for TSW5 in the Steam sale, prior to launching TSW6. With a view to encouraging people to pick up stuff with perceived extra value in light of knowing TSW6 is coming.

That would actually be a pretty smart move by them, gives people a chance to start off with everything needed to layer out their chosen route/s

This. Not to mention teetering on the edge of their NDA.

And one person’s blown away might not meet the expectations of someone else. I will now be extremely disappointed if we don’t get Inverness to Perth (or Kyle Of Lochalsh) in 1977, or Exeter to Paignton and Plymouth in 1971. Fully dynamic signalling system including replatforming and random events or diversions. DLC slashed to half the current price and all old DLC permanently reduced to £10 or less. And Rivet’s shadow never allowed to darken the TSW door again.

Ha, ha. Our expectations absolutely revolve around what level of involvement Rivet have had with the new content. WCMLS is still plagued with operational and visual issues due to their amateur route building skills, so there will be mucho disappointment if Newport to Swansea/Reading to Bristol/Exeter to Plymouth/Perth to Inverness etc. etc. has been outsourced to their tender mercies.

Rivet deserve every adverse comment they get on this forum, given the wake of poor quality and unfixed content left in their wake.

To be fair, it's not DTG posting multiple 'predictions' (aka baseless speculation), wishlists and random stuff about TSW6. Forum users are doing that all by themselves.

DTG have at least not played last year's charade of pretending TSW5 wasn't a thing when everyone knew it was, to the point of putting false timings (4-6 months) in the July 2024 roadmap for what would turn out to be TSW5 content just 2 months later.

Well in some ways by doing that then remaining tight lipped, DTG have encouraged that very situation. In fact, having announced TSW6, rather than going into silent mode and making us wait for Direct, they could have started to drip feed information or even teasers on a weekly basis. That would have sustained interest and contained expectations. Even if the specifics were kept under wraps, perhaps an image of a compass pointing west would have pointed to something GWR for the UK. Or a cryptically disguised section of the Dawlish sea wall with a clotted cream confection on top of it. For the US, if it’s Florida, a big full sun in the guise of an orange.

Personally I would much rather multiple threads of route and/or feature speculation rather than last year's arguing over whether there was going to be a TSW5.

If nothing else it helps DTG get a steer for the 'buzz' around different options.

    It's a minor miracle, though there's still a week to go. ;)

I think that, with all the speculative threads, DTG is getting exactly what it wanted.

    This thread is hilarious:
"DTG is creating hype for the product they're trying to sell, it's almost like that's what they were trying to do all along!"

It's like ya'll rediscover how marketing works on an annual basis lmao.

Well, no-one's under any illusions, we all know what's going on in terms of Marketing 101, the early announcement and the hype. Most are just willing to play along.
It's a little surprising though that DTG isn't talking it up some more in the final days.

Perhaps they are still sweating the content won’t be ready in time and will end up being a Rush Hour style season pass.
