there going to be brand new titles from dovetail games. so would that be new games coming out or something that being added to tsw6.
the new games title records is not doing so well i think. seem train sim world vr hasn't been touched and train sim world tycoon is ghost town.. or i might be wrong.
i understand they want to try branch out to something different from tsw game but is games are not as popular at tsw game then maybe it sign.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high. DTG’s track record when they step away from their core train sim stuff is not good.
FSX - acquired from MS and given a Steam jacket but that was about it.

Flight Sim World - sold to us as early access, taken out of early access and promptly ditched. Seems they were out of their depth including sending the marketing girl to a big flight sim convention who didn’t have a clue when the technical questions started coming from the floor.

City Tram Sim - well they ought to have known they were buying in a lemon based on the previous Munich and Vienna titles but put a brave face on it. Unceremoniously ditched when it became apparent the developer was incompetent and player numbers down in low double figures (sales probably not much better).

Their fishing games and Catan now pretty much abandoned. The VR train game doesn’t look to have much of a following either and even TSC is now basically in maintenance mode.

So while I would welcome something like a new golf or rally game, licensing aside I just can’t see it being anything mainstream. There has been speculation in other threads it could be a multiplayer spin off of TSW with one or two customised routes. The devil in me also suggested they have bought out Run 8 and will be using that as the basis for a dedicated US spin off of TSW.

They may also have decided to dip their toes in the tablet/phone game market but those are very murky waters to tread. Most of the well known titles like Clash Of Clans, Hay Day, Township etc. hook players by offering the basic game free but then try and incentivise the player to make in game purchases to get ahead quicker. Some of those are not cheap - Hay Day and CoC they go up to £100 for a mega bundles of diamonds or whatever the premium currency is. And if anyone has explored the train games available on Android or iOS, then you will know there is a wave of plagiarism with every Russian, Chinese, Indian or Pinoy hacker cloning games and trying to pass off as their own.

tl:dr Intrigued to see what it might be, but not getting particularly excited over that aspect of Direct.

I remember that one thread discussing the idea of a mobile TSW title before, didn't comment because I couldn't put it into words at the time. But all I could think is anyone who suggests that really ain't aware of how different those two markets are. They're about as similar as Hollywood movies and YouTube videos, very different mediums despite there being commonality between the two. Very few movie directors know how to do good YouTube content, and conversely few YouTuber's can make good Hollywood movies, no different here.

I can't say with any certain if DTG would or wouldn't try, it's not like it would be technically impossible for TSW to run on mobile. But I am pretty confident that if they did TSW would likely bomb on mobile, if for no other reason that that TSW's $20 to $40 a pop business model just ain't welcome on phones. And by extension if DTG are smart they won't waste their time trying doing such a fruitless endeavour.

I think if they went mobile they'd do something other than a train driving sim, although it could still be train related

The other hook with tablet games is ad sponsorship. I had one the other week on Hay Day to speed up one of the production machines. When I clicked on the x to close it, instead it took me to the product page on Safari at which point my iPad malware detection kicked in. Tablet games are not always very nice and in some corners are rightly construed as little more than online gambling with a pretty coat.

I dont see any remote chance of this happening.

From my understanding the dev's are pretty stuck up, so much so that Run 8 is almost impossible to mod anything for. This is why you see little in terms of ANYTHING 3rd party for Run 8, so I dont even see DTG even trying to offer them anything for their game.

On top of that, given that Run 8 most likely runs pretty loose with their licensing situation, them selling out to DTG would mean ALOT OF CONTENT would have to be changed for that to DTG's current licenses, which would be alot of operators (Like the G&W) container and trailer skins and map scenery.

Oh I know, it was just a bit of tongue in cheek whimsy! Not to mention their current routes which look like something from early MSTS would need a massive rework to TSW standards.
