Now that the core routes and loco DLC's for TSW 6 have been revealed, what are your opinions on them? Are they fitting? Would you have liked something else or any changes? TSW6 Core Routes and loco's: UK: Riviera Line + Class 220 XC US: Morristown Line + ALP-45DP GER: Leipzig - Dresden + DB BR 294
I'm happy with the package as a whole. Very happy to see the Riviera Line and the extension of the Dresden-Reisa route up to Leipzig (probably my most played route).
I'm pretty excited for both the UK route and the US route personally. I'm glad we're getting the Arrow III because I like a lot of the older US locos and rolling stock. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a US freight route, but honestly I knew that wasn't happening. I'm also looking forward to the DB 294 because I like these style of engines and they're hopefully use it in further routes unlike the DB 204.
Leipzig-Dresden is nice but I will probably be disappointed if neither the S-Bahn Talent 2 from Rapid Transit is implemented or the City-Tunnel is excluded, currently the S3 goes from Leipzig Hbf to Wurzen/Oschatz. Also I would have preferred the Diesel Talent 1 (up to Borsdorf) instead of the BR 294.
220 is possibly the worst train ever provided in the UK for the distances it covers. Wallet marked safe.
The routes are good but I find nothing new in terms of rolling stock (except the deluxe editions). I think I'll buy it when it's on sale: the standard + 220
I am looking forward to the Riviera route. My hope was that it would be a perfect chance to add era layers, allowing scenic changes for 1960s or 1980s operation too. The 220 is not an exciting train, but like the 66 a necessary bedrock of UK services so welcome for adding lots of extra life into the game.
Damn, it might be the Special edition for me this year. I only own Semmeringbahn from the 5 dlc routes offered. Very happy to see the Riveria Line finally making its way to us.
Happy to see that those of us who weeks ago pitched the thought it would be Exeter to Paignton and Plymouth were proved right, even down to my waggish comment to Matt if he was walking the sea wall. A few caveats... what if any involvement have Rivet had this time round? I couldn't see any obvious evidence and it won't stop me buying but... Got to think the 221 would have been a more logical choice for the West Of England than the 220 which tend to be on the shorter workings starting or terminating at Bristol or South Coast route. Apart from the era then a crowd pleaser. Oh and was it me, or did the audio guy seem a bit on edge and tad defensive. Let's just hope the 802 sounds are buffed a little bit from the 801 on ECML. Don't really know much about the NJT route, the older EMU looks fun to drive though. Germany, well bit of a mixed view on extending Dresden - Riesa to Leipzig. I know from TSC the new stretch is a bit flat and bland, kind of the German ECML! 294 might be interesting though would have preferred a 211 or 212. Guess the picture of the Dutch train on that leaked image was a red herring, then. Oh and any thoughts we might see a return to steam traction this time round have gone up in smoke..!
Leipzig-Dresden I'm very pleased with. But, with all new routes going forward now regardless, I'm still a bit apprehensive overall as a console player; are we actually going to get a full timetable on Gen 9...? This needs to be clearly communicated early on before people get their hopes up.
No single-level NJT cars makes me sad. Also Morristown is a really nice route, but for ALP-45DP they could choose something more diesel. Although then Arrow III wouldn't have fit in there. OK then.
Shockingly I think the American route looks interesting and that’s not my thing. The UK route looks okay. The German one is a bit meh. However the deluxe locos are good, especially the Voyager. And the features this year look very good.
It is nice, but I'd like to see if it can actually do a stormy sea. Waves crashing over the wall at Dawlish would add extra realism.
The stations for the Riviera line look very good; the scenery isn't the worst but did give off a similar vibe to the Cardiff route.
NEC: New York - Stanford is an odd choice.. Morristown sounds like a good route on paper. Have to see if it’s any good on release
Riviera looks pretty good and I might actually step out of the free starter pack zone and get the standard pack. Birmingham - Crewe and Preston - Crewe... Do they want to add anymore Crewe whilst they are at it? The new features are good and hopefully they will be implemented across all routes including station and train announcements on the likes of SEHS and London Commuter. Czechia and Portugal... I was not expecting and I can't wait to see how they look. Maybe one day they will finish East Coastway with an extension.
Yeah it kind of gave me Rivet vibes I hope I'm wrong on this, the stations looked amazing though, I just fear for some of the middle parts that aren't the seawall. Something about the textures, or the materials they used, it looked just like Cardiff. Which does not give me hope. I'm still very happy, this is the one route I wanted in almost the time period I wanted. And I could basically tell where exactly where the location was in almost all of the shots they showed, which is a good thing. But, I'm always on edge with TSW on how good or mostly bad it will really be.
Pretty happy with all that. Waterloo-Basingstoke will be TSW7, pretty sure… Also great to see more countries coming via third parties. Really interested in the potential here, and hopefully they can indeed land for this edition. Good they addressed the Union Workshop re-announce - but game dev is never a straight line, so I will have patience.
well, I hope they don’t do the same move as for s-Bahn Frankfurt again. This would be a complete disappointment. Hopefully the performance increases in general as they haven’t talked much about that. Edit: In the Tsw6 faq article it says, that gen9 and pc get the full timetable.
Well i watched the whole stream with audio on and chat closed to avoid distractions. Gotta say i'm fairly impressed! Certainly didn't expect the NJT route and Arrow III EMU- quite excited for that one! Dual mode ALP45 loco makes me hope maybe finally MNRR P32DM might show up- I've basically given up on the Amtrak Genesis at this point. UK package looks great too new sounds for the Class 150 was much requested. 802 and Voyager look fantastic! Germany- i've wanted the extension to Leipzig for a long time- and a new shunter? Let's go!
Yeah I'm feeling a little cautious over Plymouth. It didn't make me go "Wow" and I did wonder about the scenery but it's hard to tell from that small snipper. I'm glad they've attempted to redo the 150 though?
Overall, TSW6 looks fantastic to me. I've been waiting and praying for any NJT route so I'm bit biased here. Arrow III and APL45 are great additions - DTG please tell us we will be able to substitute them on the NY-Trenton line! cActUsjUiCe I hope you were involved in the signaling! Also, I really like what they did with the German route. All of us wanting extensions, longer routes should be thrilled. Plus half of it is technically brand new and we don't need to use that silly hopping feature. I think each future iteration should include one route that's extended.
I’ve always found the Dresden route to be a tad boring and I don’t think I am that excited about it being made longer. It seemed to come with an entitlement to the old route which has just confused me. If it’s an extension then why would anyone need the existing route? Is it just the extra bit and you have to route hop? More questions than answers for me on that one and maybe a map graphic would have helped. It would have been more use than all the flashy video graphics on display.
It sounds like "here's your requested New Haven* now go away" * - did you looked at the map? there are 74 freakin miles!
I couldn’t be more excited about NJT Morristown line. I’m biased because I grew up in Summit NJ and this is my one and only route suggestion!! Take my money!!! And everything looks awesome too. I’m pretty pumped!
Free starter pack for me. Not interested in the core routes but happy for those that got their wish - not that I remember ever seeing these get requested, but anyway… Getting platform and train announcements was a nice surprise, but I’m guessing they’ll only be added to new routes? Also would be good to know if they will use authentic licensed announcements where possible.
Overall there are some good announcements, particularly some unexpected items in there too. But there are a few things that certainly caught my eye for the wrong reasons... Let's start with the Riveria Line. Surprisingly the route will come with the Class 802 and Class 150 as standard. Not much was said on the Class 220 apart from a few short videos. I have a feeling this will also feature on the All Aboard Studios Crewe to Birmingham route though. Now I can obviously not give a in depth review on the review nor can anyone else, as I haven't or no one else has seen the route intensely... But from a few snippets of video I did notice a few scenary quality issues, particularly around the level crossing over the station and a few other little bits. Some areas struck me as a bit 'off' and 'baron'. Now this is all work in progress who knows what it will look like in a months time. I'm willing to give DTG the benefit of the doubt for now. But for me personally this will be the first year that I am not preordering it. In theory, a possibly decent route, but I need to see the preview first and make sure that scenary is sorted. Don't get me wrong there were some nice textures... But I'm not sold just yet. The rolling stock however seems very comprehensive this year it has to be said, a Class 150, 802, and a 220! I have no reason to moan there just yet! Other exciting news is the Birmingham to Crewe route by All Aboard Studios, who I'm hoping will sort that bloody Class 350 out for once and for good so we can all enjoy it. Just Trains, announcement is as exciting as ever with the 86/4 and 47/3! No complaints there my friends! And there is the Avanti Class 805 on the road map... Some potential for WCMLS amongst other things. I'm firmly sitting on the fence this year until I see the preview streams for the UK route, and to make sure any concerns I have are either ironed out or remedied.
I saw requests for all three routes. Even for 2 of the 3 new trains. Maybe not as often as the others, but I definitely saw them.
Really wish they extended to NEC Stamford route to New Haven ending at Stamford is egregious I hope they at least add the New Canaan branch
US and Germany look like a good time Riviera Line is a bit underwhelming as they've done it in the wrong era, should've been 1950's with GWR steam traction. Would've been a lot more exciting! Alternatively, BR Western Region with focus on the diesel-hydraulics.
As I'm playing Germany routes normally, I was hoping for new operators, but sadly there aren't any. In general it looks like, a lot of people are positive about Dresden - Riesa, but in my opinion it's a little boring with the same trains as in previous routes (BR442, BR143, BR185) and also scenery wise. Riesa is totally dead, but the branche line makes it a little better. Extension to Leipzig makes it possible more and longer boring and how about cutbacks for console. Will Riesa still be quiet? The other 2 routes do not interest me, it's just the same 3 old countries and noting new. I didn't expect much from TSW6, but I'm still disappointed.
Leipzig is not as busy and also the trains are not as long too, I still do not know if the S-Bahn is included, would be awful if not as the S3 runs from Wurzen/Oschatz to Leipzig Hbf via the City-Tunnel (already included in Rapid Transit and TSC).
Well I've preordered anyway as I do have a soft spot for the Cucumbers and the Voyagers may be hell to travel on IRL (even Matt had to bite his tongue on the stream) but if they pipe the engine sound into the cab they do have a rather nice melodious rumble.
Deluxe for me, pretty excited for everything announced to be honest. Not sure how people think Riviera wasn’t frequently requested?!
Interesting choice to model the whole route via Dresden Friedrichstadt (I guess important for the V90 and certain RB services), but not including the Leipzig City Tunnel, which already exists in the game in terms of the station modeling and would have only required an additional relatively short branch for you to be able to drive a much longer and interesting section of the Leipzig S3. Especially weird because it was very much part of the TSC route. Would have also been a chance to update the very poorly aged Rapid Transit Talent 2 to the current Talent 2 feature set. I really hope it's actually been implemented after all, otherwise this could be another huge miss similar to the initial omission of Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof.
