Honestly, I looked at the routes, how they looked, meaningful and game-changing features. Amazing routes and I am actually a fan of the BR294. But of course it gets trashed by a random issue. I wasted around 150€ of money (in DLCs that won't transfer) because many DLCs on Epic won't get transferred to TSW6 :) so good. I am soooo happy. I am sure all of us are happy! :) :) :)
Altough not single-handedly, we helped you guys make profit, pay your headquarters bills, etc. A little bit of courtesy would be appreciated. Like steam keys. Epic is getting more unreliable and I don't want to lose my collection of many years. I have paid 1000€~ in total of DLCs. You'd call me a loyal consumer.
I am actually lucky for having only paid 150€ish in non-transfer DLCs. Others have paid alot more.

This sounds like an EPIC issue, not a DTG issue.

Yes, and I am already planning my migration to Steam and re-purchasing options if this issue isn't solved, but I won't re-purchase all of them. It's still DTG's responsibility to have some compassion and courtesy and give us Steam keys.

If i'm understanding correctly, the issue is due to an Epic limit on the quantity of DLC for any given title

One potential solution might be for DTG to repackage the older first-party DLCs as part of the standard edition package.

Maybe everything pre-TSW2 would be fair? And that could be moved up every couple of years or so? So like for TSW8 in 2027, all pre-TSW3 content would get rolled into the base package?

It would be a financial hit for DTG (though only they know how much the older DLCs still sell).

Some existing owners would complain that their purchases have been devalued, but as someone who buys most DLCs i'd be fine with it tbh. I've either gotten my value out of them or not at this point.

I think they have to do something though- this is a PR nightmare (shame cause i thought the direct was really good overall) and genuinely unfair to Epic players.

Whatever the reason. It doesn't matter whose " fault " it is. Many loyal TSW players have " lost " a large part of their collections through no fault of their own.

They deserve the compassion and courtesy of some kind of compensation.

The rest of us need to imagine how we would feel if this happened on Steam, PlayStation or XBox. ( something not beyond the realm of possibility, there are already problems with the TSW catalog on Steam I hear. )

If it is Epic's limitation, that's pretty tricky. The PS5 limit on DLCs was at least a platform issue that could be worked around with the Add-On Manager, but when it's the storefront, what can you do? Only solution I can see would be to keep TSW5 installed with the DLCs that won't be brought forward (same as with the Caltrain issue, until the unbranded ones are released).

Now that I think about it, there was also a recent TSW5 DLC announced as not being available on Epic due to an unresolvable problem. Looking at TSW5 on Steam shows 129 DLCs. I wonder if that was the one that banged against Epic's ceiling.

Regardless, imo we are owed an explanation and steam keys. DTG don't have the legal obligation to because, guess what?? we don't own what we buy!! but they can show compassion for their player base.

When I watched DTG Direct I was genuinely hyped. In my view, this is the best release since TSW2, maybe better. Two new interesting countries, passenger announcements, train faults and random events. The Voyager!! My country in TSW!!!! But, I will need to migrate to Steam and I will need to rebuy WCMLS, The 390, WCMLOS, and all of that.
    My addons amount to 1200€~.
The must-have addons that I must purchase if I migrate amount to 400€~ off-sale.
    (200€~ on-sale).
But I may vote with my wallet, tarnish my experience but enough of us will force DTG to give us keys.

    Pray tell more?!

I mean, I'm already planning a bit of a cull on what I bring across to TSW6 but that will be my choice.

I think Dovetail would do themselves a great favour by either packaging these DLCs altogether on Epic (and take whatever the financial hit is) or offer Steam keys to EGS users.

For a game which is based entirely on DLC, operating on a platform with a DLC limit and no work-around just isn't going to go well, is it?

I guess we have to wonder if this issue could have been avoided if there wasn't an annual release?

sincerely, do you still have doubts about this? both epic and caltrain issues wouldn't exist if it weren't for this crazy idea of releasing a damn "new" game every year just for marketing purposes
It's time for dtg to adopt the tsc model for tsw

Sure, but this would not be an issue at all if DTG did not insist on re-releasing the same game every year. Replacing the menu colors and the loading splash screen does not warrant a new release.

How exactly does the Epic issue have any relevance to Dovetail's annual releases?
The DLC limit applies to each game individually, rather than to Dovetail as a whole or the TSW franchise.

If we were still on TSW2 or 3, EGS would still be in the same situation, the number of DLCs would be about the same (minus Mildmay Line, most likely)

Crosstie are you referring to the fact that some DLC are missing from the TSW 6 list on Steam? TSW 5 has 129 DLC and TSW 6 has only 120. Dresden to Riesa is missing, presumably because of the extension, but that leaves 8 others and NTP appears to be missing. I hope they are added before the release.

Exactly, you see the problem with yearly releases? It has to be repackaged over and over again, and now this happens on Epic. See why players typically dislike the yearly release cycle? This is seriously anti-consumer, whether it's Epic or DTG, but either way both parties have some fault in what's going on with Epic right now.

But still, I suppose that Epic Games may face a different issue preventing certain DLC's from carrying over that's unrelated to DLC repackaging, but no matter what, we demand answers and compensation. This is unacceptable.

Like, can DTG give some courtesy to their loyal customers and do things that would help them stay on their platform, such as providing Steam keys with proof of purchase for example? Especially those that spent thousands on their DLC collection on Epic. Yeah, we pay knowing that we pay for a license that's not guaranteed to carry over to future titles, but that's not our fault. It may be Epic's fault for sure, but still, DTG can still make an attempt to be nice to loyal customers and do something to keep them.

Like I have a solution even if they can't do Steam keys. Just repackage the TSW 2 or even TSW 3 content into one single big game or something, I don't know. Maybe that seems too impossible, but if it's a DLC limit problem, there's many ways this can be avoided. Besides, majority of players play on the most recent version of TSW, they won't miss out on profits or player base if they drop support for an older game. But this is unfair treatment overall. We need solutions now.

They're literally going to lose, maybe even 80%-90% of the Epic Games players, including myself by doing something like this for this iteration of TSW, and keep doing this for future iterations too. Especially those who invested a lot over the years on Epic not knowing that consequences like these will happen in the future since no one knew back then. I'm hoping whatever they're working on with Epic to resolve this can happen soon enough, that's what I'm seriously hoping.

Wasn’t this an issue for TSW5? Theres more DLC currently available for TSW5 than there will be for TSW6 at launch. That’s the part that confuses me.

EGS doesn't have the most recent DLC (Expert 101 on KWG) which would suggest it may have hit the limit with the Birmingham 170 pack.

Yes, I am aware of this from another thread. DTG say they are working with Steam to get the missing items back in the catalog before early access begins.

This is likely a different issue from the Epic one and presumably will be solved soon.

Why is it DTG that has to be "compassionate" and "owes' reparations for something Epic did?
Why isn't there a call for Epic to fix the issue?
Seems that if it's Epic's policies causing the problem then it's Epic's issue to solve, not DTG's since DTG didn't do anything wrong.
Folks just seem REALLY quick to blame DTG for every problem, even when it's Sony or Microsoft or Epic.
Then I keep hearing 'well it's the LEAST DTG can do; they have all that money!"
Like the above mentioned companies don't have far MORE money than DTG and caused the issues in the first place?

Or.... if Epic just didn't have an artificial limit for no good reason.
Again... blaming DTG for what Epic did.

Well, no matter what, Epic or DTG, a solution is needed. True, it's most likely that Epic Games takes a lot of responsibility on this for possibly limiting the amount of DLC on the store for whatever reason, but no matter what, we need answers. Maybe Epic Games themselves should say something on this matter too.

Has it been confirmed this is the reason? If so yes, Epic Games players should direct their concerns to Epic Games themselves. Haven't seen anything official from DTG in regards to the reason yet.

The OP stated that Epic won't let the transfer of DLC happen... on Epic.
    That's entirely an Epic issue.
They created that issue themselves with their policy.
It's not just "some of the responsibility.
Epic has ALL of the responsibility because it's entirely a result of their policy on their platform.
    No one else is involved.
Quavering and saying "for whatever reason" is just more trying to avoid blaming Epic for some reason.
    It's their policy.
    That's it.
Why are people trying to deflect blame for them?
Is there some pathological need to blame DTG no matter whose fault it is?
Just blame Epic and get them to fix it.
If they won't... then people will stop using Epic.
It's in Epic's best interest to fix it or lose all those customers.
Even if DTG did offer to take all that monetary hit, it wouldn't gain them anything.
It would just reward Epic for having a crappy policy and shitty customer service.
If anything people leaving Epic would benefit Steam... not DTG.
DTG has no dog in the fight at all.
If Steam wanted to give customers an incentive to transfer over from Epic.... that's a possibility but again they have no responsibility either so it'd only be a business move to get more customers. They don't have any "responsibility" to fix Epic's screwup.
By shielding Epic you just empower their bad policies.

How would it not be Epic's responsibility?
    It's their platform.
If it were a DTG policy, then it would be the same across platforms.
Steam would have the same requirement.

Do you think that maybe reporting this to Epic Games themselves in a ticket would do anything? It could warrant them to do something about this.

I hope if DTG doesn't give any explanation or solution to this, that epic users don't go quietly and just rebuy DLC on steam when TSW6 releases. Right now I am so happy to be a Steam user, Valve is amazing. But if this happened to me, I would kick off everywhere I could, this is so wrong and so unfair. I'm actually pretty mad to see it.
I honestly don't care who's fault this is because everyone will probably try to blame each other. They just need to fix it

Exactly. Doesn't matter at all who's exactly to blame and to what percentage. They need to work together and provide a solution. Any solution other than "bad luck" and "just rebuy your stuff elsewhere".
If just nothing happens, but playing "blame-ping-pong", a lot of trust will be lost. Who can be sure, that won't happen again next release or that it won't happen again on any other platform later on.

That would be the first step. They don't know it's a problem until someone tells them it's a problem.

Do you often take responsibility for things that aren't your fault because someone else is angry at a stranger?
It's Epic's fault. Not sure why people keep saying "whoever is responsible" or "whoever has to fix it."
It's a problem on the Epic platform because of Epic policies that Epic alone can fix.

It is a BAD thing to not place that blame where it belongs because you are punishing people that aren't responsible and letting the entity responsible get away with it. On top of that, it doesn't FIX the issue if Epic isn't fixing it.

It's like blaming the car company because your local mechanic screwed up fixing your car.
Just go to the mechanic and explain the problem.

It's weird everyone wants to go out of their way to avoid fixing the problem and instead want to rant angrily in ways that prolong the issue by not forcing Epic to address it. Is there some unwritten rule where you can attack DTG for things they didn't do but can't hold Epic responsible for its actions?

Does the reverse ever happen? Do you ever wrongly blame Epic when there's a bug in TSW that's obviously not their fault?

People oddly do it when there are console issues too and Microsoft or SONY are to blame.

It's like people can ONLY attack DTG for every single issue and can't even weakly criticize anyone else involved in the supply chain.

You only get fixed for things if you find the correct entity responsible and hold them accountable.

Pretending and playing favorites is counter-productive.

If you're not, then you don't care about a solution you just want a reason to irrationally blame DTG and that won't fix anything.

We don't know what the problem is and who's to blame. You're basing that on speculation as to the reason. We need DTG to come out and be transparent about why this is happening.

I think DTG are more than happy for this situation to continue as it means all those Epic players will have to repurchase all that dlc on steam. Luvvly jubbly loads of mugs buying the same dlc twice think DTG!
Otherwise perhaps when DTG partnered with Epic this possibility should have been thought about in the future because it was always real possibility.
Just glad I have always stuck with steam.

You need to give it a rest, nobody is saying it's all DTG's fault. Most of us said we literally do not care about who's fault it is, you are fighting ghosts. We just want somebody to fix it. In the other thread two people said that they tried to contact Epic support and Epic support said they didn't know about the situation and to contact DTG support. So it lays on whatever DTG decide to do.
If they make all of these people re-buy the DLC, that is just terrible in my eyes. I don't care if its legal, or what happened was unintentional or what, I would feel scammed out of my hard earned cash. There needs to be some kind of a better solution for this.
It's not like they are going to go bankrupt if they give out some steam keys to the victims of this.

Nobody except all the people on the thread demanding DTG "solve the problem."
You have no evidence DTG has anything to do with it. We know Epic is since it's their rule on their platform. Yet keep insisting that "we don't know" and "we need DTG to respond." Why not "we need Epic to respond?"
    It's not DTG's call.
They don't own Epic or Steam.
It is in fact irrational to assume that DTG is responsible.
If they benefit or not is not relevant if they didn't create the issue and have no control over it.
The very demand that they "give credit for steam games" is assuming they take responsibility for Epic's actions.

I still don't see why people aren't directing any anger at the Epic for having the policy which they could stop entirely on their own.

Again, it's like your local mechanic screwing up your car repair and you demand that the auto company pay for the damages.
    It's entirely irrational.
You can be as angry as you want and feel "scammed"... but then bring it up with Epic who is at fault.
    That is your proper recourse.
They are the ones who stand to lose business if enough people stop using their service and move to Steam.

You're simply barking up the wrong tree by pretending it's not Epic's fault and that they shouldn't be held accountable.
In the end it won't get you a positive result to demand it's "fixed" by DTG.
How many who have complained on a DTG forum have at least equally complained to Epic?
    Anyone?
Has anyone even asked them politely if they are aware of the issue?
It could be an internal error for all you know if no one has spoken to them to find out.
But no... let's whine about it to DTG who isn't responsible and it's not their platform to fix.

Even if you did think "someone" should offer "steam credits" (a terrible idea) shouldn't it be STEAM doing that since they are the only ones benefitting from new customers? If DTG gave you "free content" they don't get another customer. You're a player no matter where you buy your content.

If Steam offers you "free stuff" and you move all your stuff from Epic to Steam...they gain a new customer.

That should logically be the order in which you approach the issue.

1-Address it with Epic. Suggest you could move to Steam if it's not fixed.
2-If they don't fix it, suggest to Steam they can win all those new customers.
3-DTG would be the LAST resort since they have the least skin in the game and the least direct impact with the highest negative consequences.

    A) DTG has chosen to build a DLC compatibility system that puts alot of strain on the distributors and is annoying to the players with many duplicates and re-downloading. They have played a big part in this problem.

    B) They have announced that all your DLC will come forward and is playable in TSW6. They should be held accountable for this deceptive statement.

Roadmap stream today. Let's see what they have to say, and let's try asking them what's going on about this in the chat, hopefully they can see our questions.

I'm just gonna migrate to steam. If that means i have to rebuy all my dlc's, so be it. I'm not gonna buy anything on full price but on sales.

I'm absolutely not saying that this is DTG's fault but they really could be more transparent. We players deserve to know why this is happening and if this is gonna happen in the future with other platforms or if it is just a one time thing.

And yet they'll probably conveniently ignore those questions

Well, let's hope not but I wouldn't be surprised.. :|

If it's serious enough where there's huge community backlash like this, there's no reason why DTG shouldn't listen and offer a reason at the very least, and even better, a potentital path to a solution to all this.

Epics only care about Fortnite, it's strange that people here don't know this)
