Just noticed this new loading screen on my game today, hadn't noticed it in my runs earlier in the week. As you can tell it's a DTG Direct advertisement, captioned with "Expect the Unexpected". I mostly wouldn't care for this as DTG announcements nowadays are all about TSW since they have effectively left TSC behind now. But I am intrigued this time as to if anything TSC related will be involved since it has been added to the loading screen of our game and has such an alluring caption? I feel like if that wasn't the case they wouldn't bother adding this loading screen to TSC but you never know with DTG. I hope it's something good but oh well it's a "cautious optimism" sort of situation.
I’m aware but I don’t remember there being a direct announcement for the “DTG Direct” on the TSC loading screen since there was nothing TSC related that was going to be in it regardless, but I may be remembering incorrectly. Well like I said 90% of the time I would think the same as you and wouldn’t care at all, it’s just the fact announcing what should be something entirely TSW focused on TSC is just weird and I don’t recall it happening before so it may be worth bringing up as a “just in case” scenario. But it’s DTG sooo
Today of FB it says This year’s Dovetail Direct is arriving onto your screens on Tuesday 26th August, starting at 16:30 (UTC) Featuring many familiar faces from the Dovetail Games team, we can’t wait to see you all there to reveal the content coming with Train Sim World 6.
Thanks for the confirmation. Wish they wouldn’t put it on the TSC loading screen then because most of us don’t care about TSW content in the first place.
They only care about fanatically selling TSW to the masses, and yes that includes the unclean TSC player base, they are little more than the annoying proverbial Jehovah witness's showing up at your front door at this point.
Weren't we supposed to be getting a new update soon? The new core routes would now include ones outside of the DTG scope. Apparently the new route package would be Saluda Grade, Chatham Main LIne from Blackfriars to Dover etc and Konstanz-Villingen. There was also supposed to be a dutch route in the works as well for the Deluxe edition.
Also, the TSC Core Stream that we were originally supposed to get about 3-4 months ago that was quietly dropped or scrapped
Did they not say that implementing further upgrades might break the game - partially the way it did with the Beta?
Even though DTG have said on their Facebook page it is for announcing content for TSW 6? You get your expectations up so you can be disappointed?
They said that but around the same time, DTG Harry mentioned that DTG jamie would be providing a pre recorded core stream over in the TSW side of the forums
I wouldn't expect DTG to dissolve and retire its entire franchise from Steam, but now I do... no, still not. A few things have been on my wishlist and I currently don't believe they would happen, and I still shouldn't get disappointed, but: Having built a new engine for TSC content Open sourcing TSC and content (led by Spikee, who left because he would have spilled) Merging TSC and TSW Complete rebuild of the TSC UI I actually don't think DTG would dissolve because we have a new Help button in the bottom right here. Maybe it's fake. Maybe not. Maybe maybe. Hype maybe. Hype not. Hope not. Hope yes. Confusion abounds. Or not.
I don't think you could merge TSC & TSW or if DTG would want to. TSC pay once and have lots of third part content and it runs forever. TSW keeps getting a new version every year and you have to pay to keep up. The hardest part of having a new game engine for TSC is the compatibility with older DLC. Do you say to people you can have a new engine to run TSC but it won't work on anything built before say 2020. How much stuff would people lose
According to this, we were supposed to get a Dutch route from Amsterdam to HIlversum, developed by both DTG and Jasksoft. https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-simulator/articles/article/ts-classic
Which says In fact, we're delighted to announce that we'll be bringing a brand new country to TS Classic this year: The Netherlands! It's a little way off yet, but an all-new route from Amsterdam to Hilversum is currently in the works, and will be a joint production by DTG and Jasksoft. That implies it will be out later this year or early next year and not part of TSC (2026 ?)
In the link above https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-simulator/articles/article/ts-classic it also says What does that mean for the core game? We are sticking with the current version of the game code. We did a lot of work on the core last time, and we feel it is now stable for the majority of players. To make any further code changes would again take us along a path of potential disruption for players and for developers, and it doesn’t seem warranted or fair to do that at this point.
Just a wee bit sad, not even a mention of TSC - the yearly package or anything. Abandonware vibes, aside from the odd 3rd party DLC. I wouldn't care but for the marketing line - expect the unexpected. There was absolutely nothing special in the article. New version to dump money on, and some new content. Very unexpected.
Also notice how all the new content available upfront for TSW6 is literally already in TSC, and has been for many years now? Riviera Line? We have that, 2010s era of the route released in 2014 and a mid 1900s era variation released in 2015 that also goes further to Kingswear and other branches. The Morristown Line? We have that, released in 2017 and with the North Jersey Coast Line too. Leipzig - Dresden? We have that, released in 2022 as an extension to the Riesa - Dresden route released in 2021. The XC 220 Voyager? We USED to have that if we are talking about the Steam version, it was released in 2015 but the Just Trains 220s in XC livery are still available and I believe ATS are making a new version. ALP-45DP? We already have that, comes with both the North Jersey Coast Line route from 2015 and the Morristown Line remake in 2017 as mentioned previously. DB BR 294? We have had it since the game was first released back in the Railworks days in the late 2000s / early 2010s. The only interesting DLC for TSW6 to me are the upcoming Portuguese and Czech routes. But if they ever want me to actually play TSW they will need an Australian route for once! :P
One small positive is that we are getting a Voyager pack (seems to include the 221!!!) from Imbue and ATS
While I am very happy to see the New Haven Line coming to TSW, one thing I don't understand for the New Haven Line, DTG created the New Haven Line in it's entirety for TSC without a Shoreline East license, now CT Rail, so I don't exactly buy the excuse of not having a CT Rail License. But if it's because of that, I assume the majority prefers branded over unbranded content. I also am not sure why the P32AC-DM and Shoreliners are not featured. It would have added more variety but hopefully that comes as an add-on for this route later down the line. If we get the Hudson line, push pulls should be created for TSW. From the roadmap stream, I heard that both levels of GCT will be modeled. While very complex, this will be amazing to see and should be used if Metro North soon makes another return for either a Harlem Line remaster and/or Hudson Line debut. This will be very cool. I am hoping the famous clock in GCT's concourse is modeled
Why not mention this on the TSW Forums as a lot of people on here are not interested in Train Sim Walking.
