so caltrain coming back but it be unbranded. i thought DTG doesn't like doing unbranded route and trains or is it the community. so if i pitch idea of unbranded route dtg said we won't make unbranded route but they go for unbranded Caltrain kind of confused
Technically they didn't release unbranded Caltrain addons originally. So everything is as it was said. And now the choice is either unbranded route or they'll take these DLCs away from you. I think the choice is obvious.
I'm sure Caltrain's return won't take long. The modding community will take care of it, at least on PC.
If DTG didn’t have a yearly release schedule for a new game, this could have probably been avoided as existing content can remain branded. As TSW 6 demands a fresh download of the DLC, DTG has had to remove the branding. The negatives for a yearly release of TSW are sure mounting up.
ya but you watch august 2024 road map stream they explained why they do this and it to bring new people in to tsw game. the thing is i think dtg could make alot of good routes if unbranding was an option and we have livery designer tool but i guess it can't make all the logos people like i think.
well, no. The license got lost and the content got removed way before tsw6 was even announced, so dtg would still be required to either take off the dlc completely or release it unbranded outside of whether it is a yearly tsw release or not
If the content is already made and out, it can keep the branding. That’s why it’ll still have the branding if you keep the TSW 5 DLC installed with TSW 5. It’s only the TSW 6 DLC that’ll lose the Caltrain branding (as far as I’m aware).
But it used to be branded didn’t it? So an entirely different situation. The same with the LNWR licensing for the 350 which was withdrawn at the last minute not giving DTG much choice. But they try and avoid it if at all possible. Unbranded ai trains for the sake of immersion are bearable, like on MildMay and the GWE remaster, but a big no to unbranded player trains from me.
It seems like they've got a policy of unbranded only where necessary. WCMLS - obviously too late to drop the route, so releasing the 350 unbranded was the only viable option. Caltrain - license expired, people still want to play the route in the latest TSW, so unbranded again the only option.
Whilst I prefer stuff to be branded, if it's the only option, I'm OK with it. Especially because most of the time I'm looking at the cab, and if an ai train passes you don't really notice that much either
