The only good thing is the fact most people bought the stuff on sale but it still sucks for them but at least they do get a actual good sales
If this is an Epic Store DLC issue, DtG would do best to completely withdraw TSW6 from said store until a solution presents itself. I’m thinking here of future unsuspecting purchasers unaware of this seemingly arbitrary limitation. It really sucks for existing customers some of whom will want to migrate (expensively) to Steam.
I seriously doubt Epic doesn’t know based on a generic support response. If they knew they probably wouldn’t say and just kick the ticket down the road like DTG. There are probably confidential reasons neither party can give details. And, I also doubt it’s related to a 129 number. My guess is Epic is struggling and higher-ups are arbitrarily making decisions to reduce their workload/cost. If I were a struggling distribution business I also would put limitations on a system like TSW‘s ridiculous duplicate DLC setup. So I think DTG is the problem here, putting too much strain on the distributors.
The future roadmap does not provide valid explanation and basically repeated everything they said before. Waiting for how they'd response (or not to) on stream...
I think giving epic players steam keys with proof of purchase is a great idea. Didn't DTG do this for xbox players when the transition from TSW 2020 to TSW 2 in which players were given keys to help transfer dlc's as I believe not all the DLC's at that time weren't compatible between versions? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. DTG doing that would not necessarily be a loss. The DLC's were already bought so they wouldn't be losing money and it allows those on epic to keep enjoying their collection. Players should not have to repurchase their DLC's a second time.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you pre ordered the game. You have to wait till the end of September to play it.
Its a PRE-order not an order. Why they still exist for digital products is beyond me, but they do and people buy into it. Still, this should have been pretty obvious that you wouldn't have been able to play the game today...
Because now your money sits in someone else’s account for a little while longer. Whoever holds the money the longest has the most power.
A pre order is a pre purchase. You brought the product before it released. I don't do pre orders because I wouldn't pay for something that isn't out yet. If you don't like it, you can cancel and wait until the game releases. You aren't losing much by not pre ordering anyways
It seems a lot of these stores and launchers aren’t set up for game design where the core game is tiny and there’s dozens and dozens of separate DLC. To be fair most games either have much less DLC, or they package the DLC data into the core game and just make it a purchasable “unlock” to actually use it. And also, the worst thing here is that even if you lose some old routes you didn’t really want to keep playing anyway, thanks to the way TSW works that also means you’d lose layers and services in much newer routes that pull from that DLC for rolling stock. What a mess for people who invested in that platform. This is even worse than the PlayStation DLC limit issue.
That's how I feel too, they both are telling me "idk" pretty much. Let's see what they have to say on it though.
shame canada not the suggested country to make dlc. so if anyone suggesting a canada route for tsw best to look else where.
It should be a good option to let people switch to steam if there is no fix for the whole problem! DTG should take responsibility for this issue if there is no short term solution.
Technically it's a pre-purchase rather than a pre-order. In return for the various parties getting your money now, you get a 10% discount and a 5 day early access to the new game version and the routes.
Nailed it. Very expensively, I am migrating to Steam. But all repurchases will be done on sale. In total, all of my DLCs amount to 1100€~. I won't rebuy all of them, some of them I regret buying (spirit of steam, scotrail express, etc.)
I sent DTG an email asking if they could provide Steam keys to all Epic players. They just repeated the issue back to me. I replied asking for more transparency and compassion.
Oh man... I did the same thing. same result as you. It's going to be the same answer for everyone that contacts them about this. I mean, what are we going to do? We can only hope that DTG is listening to the backlash and needing to have the urgency to do something, and fast.
Same for Epic Games, we're just gonna get the same answer from either of them if we contact both companies.
But all in all, rebuying is out of the option if you have 95-97% of the game bought which is 125-126 DLC in my case, even on sales, that's going to cost well over 1.5k dollars/pounds, which is still a huge amount of money. Sure, we can migrate to Steam and rebuy everything one at a time, but that's going to take a very long time if we're gonna do it in small increments (at least in my case.) And it would make it seem like we lost the battle for fairness if we just decide to rebuy everything, personally, I'm not going to do that and spend my money to rebuy the whole series from the beginning again. And also, I don't want to restart a Dovetail Live profile that's over level 1k+, that's going to take years to get back to if I start over on Steam. So yeah, all in all, we just need something to be done about it.
We Epic Games players, especially those with a big collection, are going to boycott with our money if nothing is going to be done about it now or in the long term, and as I said, potential loss of me a customer from now on.
Bottom line is DTG and Epic don't care. They will just hide behind all the usual caveats that you don't actually own the software and that having "licensed" it for however long that might be you have had your play value out of it. Not saying that's how it should be and as a Steam player, for now, counting my lucky stars but that's the software business for you.
Dude it’s a LOVE joke and if I get banned for it then that would prove my theory DTG can’t take a joke
And asides multiple people have made this joke before and haven’t gotten banned, hell I’ve done like 2 times now man people are such snowflakes
It's almost like DTG is a bad company...who would have known? Oh, yea, anyone who has dealt with them for years. Lowest of the low developers out there and have been for a long while.
First, I think Epic is an always has been a terrible platform. They have used underhanded techniques to try to pry people off Steam (paid exclusives) when most people just don't want to use it. The store lacks a lot of features, and seems to intentionally lack reviews and discussions. It's just ugly and unwieldy to use. I don't feel especially sorry for people who have chosen to use it, to be honest. This does bring the issue of the annual releases to the forefront again though. I understand that DTG wants to generate hype each year for a "new version", it has some major issues, with cluttering users catalogs and store catalogs, and the possibility of some content not carrying forward. I don't play TSW that often but I like collecting the routes, playing them once or twice, and setting them aside in case I do want to play them some time down the road, maybe years from now. With the "online" nature of the game client, not playing on the latest would be a huge annoyance. If I can't rely on my ability to "collect" the DLC like this and play it later when I have the time and interest, I am going to stop buying it, except maybe for my most desired routes (Netherlands). I think DTG needs to address this. They need to ensure the licensed and technical aspects allow DLC to carry forward to any future version. Maybe have just one version of TSW but have an exclusive pack each year, the contents of which will not be available separtely, or at least not for 6 months or something? I don't know. I don't think they will stop doing it, but it has the potential to drive the game into the ground.
IIRC, DTG was the first publisher to actually hit the PS5's limit. I think the cause of the problem stumped Playstation for a bit because of that too. I wonder if the same factor is in play here, that a lot of people at Epic don't know or forgot about that limit because it's never been an issue until now.
Alright, so they just talked about the Epic issue on stream. But nothing really new to be honest. The same, there's no timeframe as to when this will be resolved. Oh well I guess. I suppose this is how I have to carry on forward with TSW, or else I probably won't purchase much else in the future.
I was somehow hoping a bit more info on what is going wrong where. I might just switch to steam altogether (slowly.. very slowly)
So as I expected-nothing specific was said on the stream, so I just made a refund for TSW6. I'll hope that DTG will able to solve the issue with Epic Games Store, until that I won't buy any of their content.
I respect that. However, in my situation, I'm cooked because I have 97% of the entire TSW franchise, it's going to cost me thousands, and I have a long time-built DTG Live profile that can't be transferred to Steam, so I'm cooked no matter what. Can't really rebuy one at a time either since that would take a while, even on sale. I'm going to have to wait for whatever solution they can offer, but I don't have much else to say on this after the stream tonight. Just going to wait and see from now on.
Yeah, i have everything but Thomas too, so only sales. On the other hand, my favo loco's arent coming over to tsw6 either It's a very sad day. They could at least emphasise that this gets top prio to solve
Why would anyone re-buy anything again? You shouldn’t. And I would not give any more money to these untrustworthy cowboys again if they cannot fix it. Epic has no clue. DTG has no clue. At least one of them is lying. Or both. Joke of the year. DTG had to pick the most popular addons. Ok. So Epic instructed them. They didn’t ask why? Or they accepted idk as an answer? And East Coastway is added, but not the 313? Makes no sense. This is comedy gold. Been gaming for 20 years, but never seen anything like this. Lost appetite to even play TSW5, regained 280GB space at least.
Well. I have prepared a priority list of repurchases. It's totally wrong ti be buying again but I want to enjoy the game. It's not our fault this happened.
I agree. I will repurchase on Steam to play the damn game I always wanted to without these sorts of issues.
Not to mention that future DLCs might not be available for Epic. So only 9gen and Steam. And with the state of 9gen, maybe one day only Steam.
