Also hauled passenger stock, assuming the 750’s will not just be on freight. IIRC there are numerous types of CD coaching stock, some UIC style all kind of unique and can’t just repurpose the existing German stock. So much as I look forward to this route I think DTG may have jumped the gun in their eagerness to pad out the Roadmap.

Yes, the locomotive series 750 (Brejlovec) is a reconstruction of the original series 753, it is practically a universal locomotive, however, I assume that it will only serve freight transport ... maybe even in the CD Cargo livery, but that's just speculation. Yes, specific passenger cars of the type Y (Y/B), originally manufactured in the DDR (Gorlitz/Bautzen) ..... but I don't believe that anyone will do that

There’s actually quite a lot of CD stock in Trainz, including the various “Grumpys” all of which have original, noisy, sound sets. So at the risk of repeating myself I hope the developer delivers on this and doesn’t use the muffled sounds from the modernised silenced versions. Although I haven’t visited myself, the Czech Republic (Czechia?) became something of a Mecca for UK traction enthusiasts seeking the “thrash” now long gone from our own passenger system. There’s quite a few video clips on YT taking hanging out of the front coach going to and from places like Nove Udoli and the infamous Kunova Hut.

Really looking forward to seeing my local route in-game finally for TSW6!

I’m also privileged to work onboard with a certain green TOC, so know the route & units inside out; just hope DTG have done it right!

The feature set looks alright and happy to see faults & random events added, just hope they have got the balance right in this area. Though personally, I wouldn’t market Quality of Life Improvements a feature.

So far, quite happy with the majority of what’s been announced!

    Good:
+ Leipzig - Dresden: a train simulator needs complete, non-linear routes. This is - finally - a step in the right direction.
+ 294: one of Germany's most numerous locomotives, and one to fill a much-needed gameplay niche.
+ Stuttgart - Heilbronn: It's great to see Stuttgart in game, especially in the form I witnessed as a child. This is hopefully a sign of more to come, e. g. using Stuttgart as a starting points for lines to Ulm*, Tübingen or Horb!
+ 140: An excellent and long overdue choice, as this was Germany's primary electric freight locomotive.

    Bad:
    - 294: only reused German rolling stock included in the standard edition, with the 294 tied to the Deluxe edition.
    - signal delays: its advertised effect is outweighed by natural variation in driving. In fact, it seems the least ambitious implimentation of "random events" possible!

? random events: Will there be more ambitious random events in the future, e. g. variations in AI traffic (delays at stations, variations in acceleration, etc.)
? TSW still suffers from stutters! With more demanding route choices (Leipzig, Stuttgart), will this issue be finally fixed?

    * If DTG is ambitious, completeting the line up to Augsburg will link Stuttgart and München.

I'll just add that the current Dresden - Riesa line on PS5 already suffers from texture blurring at the Dresden -Neustadt station, I'm very worried that in the future it may be an even bigger problem, because I don't really expect everything to miraculously recover with the arrival of TSW6, but maybe I'm wrong and it will be like that......

I should hope so, I mean it was a feature in BVE4 about 15 years ago. It doesn't seem incredibly difficult to implement.

Even dovetail could do it if they really wanted to:

For platform announcements: Train arrives at platform > triggers event train stopped > announcement/s play/s

For train ambiance: literally just add it in to the train audio and have a toggle to turn it off or volume change. it wouldnt work like the new content as it would be a constant noise rather than dynamic if this made it easier to implement

For train faults again, you could just update the old train files / route files, most trains already have a general fault button built into the interface.

You could farm this out to a studio if you really wanted to. You could even monetise it as an upgrade to the route / trains. £5 a train to bring the updates idk. It's nowhere near impossible it's just a case of wanting to or not.

I'll try: Leipzig-Dresden includes everything from Dresden-Riesa, including the branch line to Meißen. New is the large freight yard in Dresden-Friedrichstadt, which was missing in DRA. From Riesa, you can take the ICE-T at 200 km/h with LZB to Leipzig Hbf, and there's another large freight yard in Leipzig-Engelsdorf, so freight trains can go from there to Dresden-Friedrichstadt. The new 294 is planned to be layered for the 363 on other German routes as well, but not everywhere. The Leipzig-Dresden route is as of 2018.

Station and train announcements are initially only for new routes; later updates are possible for older routes.

Stuttgart-Heilbronn at its historical state from 2000. That is, the old main station, without the "Stuttgart 21" tunnel construction sites. The 420, which is scheduled to arrive this year, will be given an old S-Bahn orange livery, while in Frankfurt it will run in DB red. Then there's the 140 and the "Wittenberger Kopf" control car included.

After the 145, further Expert locomotives are planned until 2028. However, since quality assurance is also a priority here, delays are possible. But there is always a master plan behind it. ;)

That's the issue. Everyone wants a cool new feature.
Few want to pay for it.
Anything released for an older route that costs money is immediately attacked for "having to buy it again!"
Even when it's not the same thing.

Do we have already an idea about the layers for the 3 new routes in TSW6? Couldn't find anything in the TSW6 FAQ (maybe I overlooked it).

    Nope.
Just says "layers on other routes."
They're not that far ahead in the release packets.

The original Dresden - Riesa map will still be included, I can't quite figure out if it will have some function for additional layers, or because of substitutions?

I see one reason for it: the BR101 Expert layer on it which seems not present on the new route.

They talk about 185.2MRCE, DB363, etc., those are all vehicles from Dresden-Riesa ..... I see that as a reason, so I'm afraid that both will be needed and, in my humble layman's opinion, it will increase the load on the map... but I could be wrong

In TSW4 and TSW5, the “New” tag stays on all routes even after you’ve played them multiple times. It should only show up when a route is actually new.

Do you know if this is finally fixed in TSW6, or is it still the same?

    Thanks!

Have to reply to myself this time. My first reaction after the DTG Direct was more disappointed.
Now, after much more information is out, I'm getting more excited for the routes. Additional part of route in the Dresden area, layer from Rapid Transit, a better destination for freight services at DD-Friedrichstadt instead of beside the main station sounds good.
The upcoming Stuttgart route with space for the upcoming BR 420 excites me very much as well.
DTG, why didn't you give that much information in the big Direct? That's what it was made for and you left out so much information but instead repeated same things many times.

Does anyone know why the alp-45 actually uses diesel power in Hoboken station because I couldn’t find out why.

On the roadmap stream yesterday evening Matt explained it's because they'll sometimes come in from the electrified line, but then go back out on a diesel line, and they aren't allowed to change power modes in the station.

Don't why that's the case, but hey ho

I mentally categorize some of the future dlc as " believe it when I see it " and I need more than just a few screenshots.

I mean some dlc can move about the Roadmap for months, possibly more than a year and then suddenly vaporize, playing fast and loose with our emotions and expectations.

Question for the next roadmap/launch - JT Crewe to Preston -
How much of ICI Winnington is modelled and accessible ?
It's where the quick lime from Tunbridge Quarry on Peak Forest ended up, in the ICI bogie hopper waggons. I don't know the routing but it would be nice to drive some of those trains and very nice to drive around huge industrial complexes.

I think it was explained on the stream - it potentially draws too many amps for the systems at Hoboken to handle.

As every year more and more routes are launched (so many installed gigabytes), will there be a way to avoid to install the whole route to have only the loco pack of that route? For example: with TSW 6 launch, why do i keep installed Rosenheim - Salzburg route only to have expert 101 loco in the game? Or why do i keep installed northern trans-pennine only to have the coaches to be played as layer in Southeastern high speed dlc?. Why has One player (XSX) to fill the console ssd with many gbs only to have one train (layer) on a route? It is no sense

It's been suggested before. Would take a lot of rework to peel them off the routes, but I agree it'd be make it better going forward if ALL rolling stock were separated from routes and a route and stock were just a "bundle" essentially in game code of the loco DLC and map DLC. Would enable DTG to offer loco bundles really easily in the future too.
I know it's a way to sell more (the route/loco package to get that one loco you want is costlier so they make more money on it) but on the other hand.... how many people aren't willing to buy a whole route for one loco?
I'm not convinced it's a net profit loss.
For example if you buy a route for $40 with the loco, but you only want the loco for say $15.... you can look at it either way.
The people that do shell out $40 for the loco nets you more... but how many of those $15 loco only sales are you missing out on?
And what about the sales of that $15 loco bundled with other locos in a three-pack or as a layer for another route?

Let's say for example I like the Class 43, but don't like the GWE. I don't want to buy the whole GWE.
I could buy the Class 43 separate.
Or DTG could offer a "bundle" where the Class and all the routes it layers on were included
    Layer Routes
Or maybe even an "HST" pack of 3 different high speed trains like the 801 and 395 for one discounted price.
People would likely buy those if they don't want a whole new route to clog up their storage space, but where one new loco would flesh out a lot of routes they already have.

The one caveat that DTG has mentioned in the past is that they "don't want any new players buying any locos stuck without rails to run on."
This is sort of mitigated by the Training Center free map... but that's not really a full "route" in my mind.
It also could potentially leave "map" DLC without a "loco" to run on it. Although again, you should be able to use the existing "free" Training Center stock to run on any route you have, albeit in Free Roam.

In short, I can see your point they should be separated, but I also see why they're reluctant to do so. However, long term it might be in their best interest to do it for their own flexibility. It opens up more opportunities and the downsides can be mitigated.

I appreciate that DTG is responding to the community's wishes. Random events on the route will certainly bring a lot of freshness to TSW gameplay.

Unfortunately, what spoils my enjoyment of TSW the most will not even be addressed in TSW6. So the idiotic and unrealistic behaviour of passengers will not be fixed, I will not get a train guard or any CCTV emulation. Also the problem of new passengers not being generated at stations after a certain amount of time will probably not be fixed.

I guess random events will only work on new routes. But what new routes do we get in TSW6? Yet another half a railway line, because trains from Paignton run to Exmouth, and Exeter is not a terminus but just an intermediate station. So, for now, I'm not interested in any of the new TSW6 content. However, I appreciate that TSW5 owners will again get the bare-bones version of TSW6 for free. Perhaps some DLC for TSW6 will interest me in the future. For now, I'm staying with Cathcart Circle Line, although the behaviour of passengers is discouraging me more and more, and I'm increasingly choosing other games.

I appreciate "random events" making sense in say American Truck Simulator since you can "detour" pretty easily. When most our routes in TSW are linear though... it just means "wait longer." Same thing with "faults." What are you going to do with a bad wheel bearing for example? You can't replace it. All you'd do in real life is call a repair team and wait, hoping you brought a book. I already find "waiting at red lights" to be punishing enough in TSW, so I think I'll just keep these turned off.

Well, no train driver would obviously be expected to replace a wheel bearing, so that’s abit of a fallacy. It’s not even close to an event in ATS either so i’m not sure what you’re driving at with that example.

Blocked doors, congested platforms, signal delays, TSR’s, electrical issues with various on board equipment etc are all every day issues on trains.

The comparison to ATS/ETS diversions as an example is ironic also as one of their prefab events just near fully prevents you from completion, as good as SCS’s titles are, their dynamic event scripting is quite poor.

    That's not a "fallacy."
    It's my entire point.
If you can't do anything about the "problems" in the gameplay.... then that's not good gameplay.
You managed to jog circles around the point, shine a flashlight on it, then pretend you didn't see it.

I see it in a different way.

For me, "random events" means that when driving a train in TSW, I can no longer be confident that the next signal will be green. So, instead of levitating around the train and admiring the scenery, or making tea in the kitchen out of boredom, you will have to pay serious attention to what the semaphores are showing :> And that's great!

Let's be honest, at the moment, even on busy commuter routes, you don't really need to pay attention to semaphores because, in practice, they are always green. Perhaps only when entering larger stations such as Glasgow Central can you expect a semaphore to give a different signal. But apart from that, you just need to pay attention to speed limits and the location of stops, because semaphores are a static part of the landscape, just like the trees growing alongside the tracks. On a real railway it's exactly the opposite: semaphores are the most important thing a train driver pays attention to.

The same applies to track works. Yesterday you drove along this route and nothing was happening, but today workers are repairing the tracks on the viaduct. This brings the railway line to life! Unlike Sand Patch Grade, where the repaving of the Sand Patch road crossing has been ongoing since 2017.

Are delays annoying? For sure! But they are also a challenge for train drivers, because you can try to reduce delays, or at least try to arrive at the destination station early enough for the return train to depart on time.

When have you had "automatic greens"?
That's not the game I play....
Maybe you just don't play interesting routes.
    Green signals are never guaranteed.

Yeah, if there's one thing that I'm down on in TSW it's the waiting at red lights. Right now, I'm planning to turn off the random events. I also think I'll be doing the free upgrade and get the full game later, probably at Christmas. I haven't abandoned TSW. It's really my favorite game, but I've been doing others lately -- Planet Coaster 2, Planet Zoo, Park Beyond. I'll be back, though.

Yeah I agree, I think a big part of the issue with running on seemingly endless greens is that there just isn't "enough" traffic out there, nothing slow moving in front which the player is catching up to. Now it's tricky as on something like BVE the signals were genuinely random, there could be a train ahead, on TSW one can check the timetable or the 2D map and that kinda spoils the illusion...

It does offer opportunities however where there are still manually controlled signals/crossings and the bobby is running a bit behind in setting things up and pulling off, heck I've had to walk down the line to a signal box (in preservation) to wake the bugger up as he'd dozed off (the fire was nice and warm in there that winter's day and I needed to dry off too given I got soaked on the walk). Ok, maybe not forcing the player to get out and physically walk to a box and enforce Rule 55 as that might be a tad too much ;)

Random engineering works or track inspections are welcome, hopefully with a late notice being posted on the timetable page so you have a chance to see what's coming up - but also bearing in mind that sometimes they head on out to do something urgent and you've already left...

Hopefully DTG put a slider in there as to the frequency or length of such issue (so possible trespasser ok, cable theft nope as that's too long).

As an aside, where is more information on the “new” titles they stated were being added to the DTG games portfolio?

All seems to have gone deafingly quiet with regard to that.

Anything to tell us, DTG Harry , can we look forward to Farming Sim World, Golf Sim World, Rally Sim World etc.,etc?

I don't know if this has been asked, but the remaster of the GWR route, will that include announcements, train faults etc like which will be in TSW6?

No. Liam already explained it's a lot of work to understand how the systems work and implement them. Plus he spent a few years already working on this project so he wants to release it soon

How come the db br 294 isn't on the splash screen for the deluxe edition. It's just got the 220 and NJT DP45?

Because they don't care about it.
    Like the 204.

If they cared, they'd take the "most prolific train in German rail depots" line and run with it.
As it stands, they have announced exactly zero additional layers for it.
A huge chunk of routes are German in TSW, and they couldn't be bothered to put it on ANY others?
That tells me they are planning on ignoring it.
Not sure why since it's a potential big seller that can help sell other DLC, but unless they suddenly announce a lot of layers for it, it'll be dead in the water.

After long brake from tsw5 Just picked two random shuttles... Crazy how neglected this game is on xbox... There is absolutely nothing that constitute confidence that tsw6 will be any better...
