Including the specific locomotives and rolling stock would make the route suggestion even more compelling and professional, as it shows a clear understanding of the region's railway operations. It provides a blueprint for Dovetail Games on what to include, from modern trains to classic steam engines.
Here is the final version of the proposal, with a dedicated section for locomotives.
Route Suggestion: The Ultimate Cornish Main Line & Branches
This proposal outlines a definitive and immersive railway simulation of the entire Cornish network. It combines the scenic and dramatic main line from Plymouth to Penzance with its most important branch lines and key operational hubs, offering unparalleled variety for both modern and heritage railway enthusiasts.
The Main Line: Plymouth to Penzance
A new route covering the Cornish Main Line from Plymouth to Penzance would be a welcome addition to the Dovetail Games catalog. While the existing West Cornwall Local route covers Penzance to St Austell, this suggestion would extend the line all the way to Plymouth, including some of the most scenic and technically challenging sections of the railway.
This route would not just extend the existing line but would add significant gameplay variety and visual appeal. It would fill the gap between the existing West Cornwall Local route and the Riviera Line. The line includes the stations at Lostwithiel, Bodmin Parkway, and Liskeard, and would feature the iconic viaducts, coastal views, and the crossing of the Royal Albert Bridge at Saltash.
    The Branch Lines
This suggestion is about the full network, with each branch offering a unique driving experience:
Liskeard to Looe (The Looe Valley Line): A challenging and scenic branch with a steep gradient and a reversing station at Coombe Junction.
Par to Newquay (The Atlantic Coast Line): A single-track, highly scenic line that winds its way to the popular seaside town of Newquay, supporting both passenger and China Clay freight traffic.
Truro to Falmouth Docks (The Maritime Line): A busy commuter and tourist line, linking the main line at Truro with the historic port of Falmouth.
St Erth to St Ives (The St Ives Bay Line): A short but very popular branch that runs from St Erth out to the famous coastal town of St Ives, with its stunning views over the bay.
The Heritage Railway: The Bodmin & Wenford Railway
This would be a major feature, offering a completely different gameplay style within the same route.

Route: The heritage railway would be fully modeled, including its approximately 6.5-mile line that runs from Bodmin Parkway to Bodmin General and Boscarne Junction.
Key Feature: The Bodmin General Shed: This is the operational heart of the heritage railway. The locomotive shed at Bodmin General would be fully modeled, providing an authentic setting for players to service, prepare, and stable their steam and diesel locomotives. This adds deep, immersive gameplay beyond just running services.
Gameplay: Players could take control of a classic steam locomotive (like a GWR 'Pannier' tank) and run scenic tourist services. The route's steep gradients and manual operations would provide a rewarding challenge.
    Included Locomotives and Rolling Stock
To make this a complete and authentic package, the following locomotives and rolling stock should be included:
    Modern Era (Great Western Railway)
Class 800/802 IET: The modern workhorse of the main line, handling intercity services from Plymouth to Penzance.
Class 150/158 Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs): Essential for running local services on the main line and the various branch lines, including the Looe, Newquay, Falmouth, and St Ives branches.
Class 57 'Thunderbird': Used for "Thunderbird" rescue operations and to haul the Night Riviera sleeper service from London Paddington, adding a unique service and locomotive type.
Class 66: The key freight locomotive for the region, essential for simulating the China Clay traffic from St Blazey depot to destinations up the line.
Heritage Era (Bodmin & Wenford Railway)
GWR 'Prairie' 2-6-2T (e.g., Class 4575 or 55xx): A perfect choice to represent the steam power that once worked the Cornish branch lines, ideal for the scenic passenger services.
GWR 'Pannier' 0-6-0PT (e.g., Class 57xx): A common sight on heritage railways, this versatile tank engine would be perfect for shunting duties at Bodmin General shed and for short passenger runs.
A British Rail shunter (e.g., Class 08): A key component for shunting duties at the Bodmin General sheds, providing an authentic and challenging shunting experience.
Why This Is the Ultimate Dovetail Games Route
This combined route suggestion offers something for every type of player:
Massive Route Length: A huge and varied network to explore.
Unrivaled Diversity: Run modern intercity trains, local commuter services, heavy freight, and classic steam locomotives—all in one package.
Technical Challenge: Master steep gradients, tight curves, single-track operations, and historic steam locomotion.
Iconic Scenery: Experience some of the most beautiful and famous railway scenery in the UK.
Authentic Representation: A comprehensive and realistic simulation of the entire Cornish rail network, from its industrial past to its modern passenger services.
I whould love to see it as im a big fan of the cornish mainline and Bodmin wenford railway.

This is a great suggestion, however Rivet are likely never going to revisit their WCL route, let alone extend it and certainly not by this many miles. That means it would have to be a brand new route by DTG or another developer from the ground up. The original WCL is lacking in a multitude of areas. This is before you even consider the lack of dlc for additional realistic services, such as Class 50s and Valenta HSTs.
Also not mentioned are the multiple classes of Western Region diesel hydraulics such as Class 22, 42 and 43 as well as the 52s we already have. These would be a superb gameplay pack similar to DLoGW.

I would extremely like Penzance to Plymouth with the St Ives, Falmouth, Looe, Newquay & Gunnislake lines even tho I know it will never happen but set in FGW Era with FGW Class 150/0, FGW Class 158 and FGW Class 43
