What is the difference between the 805 and the other 80x we already have, in terms of driving ? Because for me they all look the same (do not take this sentence out of context ) and I don't really see the point of buying this DLC
It’s probably very similar to the 802 but the 802 & 805 both have proper diesel engines unlike the 801.
To drive, not too different. The real trains are quite different, with a new interior (that's much better than the DFT-specced interior on the 800s-802s) and different engines.
I think the 805 has better diesel engines than the lot of them. Also a completely different interior thanks to Avanti.
The 802 is also a bi mode unit, we will drive It in diesel mode, but we can also run in Electric whit free roam on other routes
It’s apparently set in 2019 which doesn’t fit with the introduction of 805s. Ideally, it would be nice to have the 730s as well to bring New Street up-to-date.
I think it’s basically a modified sub variant. But a welcome addition all the same. Might as well do the whole family. For me it’s going to be nice to drive the 800 series on new routes because I find the ECML as it is bland. For me no proper start or end point, it’s just kind of hanging in mid air.
I’m not an expert on the WCML but as I understand the 805 paths run fast through MKC as they’re usually on the North Wales services. So on that logic they’d only be AI trains.
I'd rather they made an all-new timetable from scratch for the WCML South, as there's still quite a few missing services in the original, and a lot of the 390's services destination is wrong, for example the destination boards saying "Birmingham" instead of "Birmingham New Street".
Confirmed in today's roadmap that the 805 DLC will come with an all-new 2025 WTT for WCMLS, as well as five scenarios made by Simtrack, also for WCMLS. This leaves the gates open for a potential Class 221 DLC down the line for Birmingham - Crewe or a slightly more backdated WCMLS timetable.
Also revealed on the roadmap as part of the new 2025 WTT for WCMLS is that there are over 2000 AI services & over 1000 playable services for the route, 27 of which are Class 805 services.
Since 805s are primarily for the North Wales Coast it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that maybe North wales coastal could be a future route??
This is great news. Hopefully it can layer the intermodal freight pack in too! My poor empty future wallet..
Holy moly, it’s going to be an expensive year buying TSW content for me. Still, got to expand that Avanti fleet
Also in the section on the 805 it mentions new sounds by SamT, if you want to get a sneak at what it could potentially sound like he’s already done a sound mod for the 80x fleet in TSC
In all honesty this will probably be a skip from me assuming there wouldn't be much of a difference in terms of driving compared to the "805" (in quotes) that came with the WCMLS EP, but I see it as a great opportunity for console players to get the full TT which is a positive!!! Looking forward to their route though.
To clear up on differences. The class 805 has A LOT of interior differences, in terms of the driving, you might not notice too much but they are very snappy power wise. I have also reworked a few things to make the driving experience hopefully feel nicer in general, including some suspension re-work. Hopefully we can show pictures of it soon. Also we started the 805 after timetable development on Birmingham Crewe was well under way hence why we chose WCML South plus we really thought that WCML South deserved to have a bigger timetable, especially for the console players who don't have access to the mods that PC players too. It's why we worked with Fawx to deliver this. Plus well there was no way I was taking on another timetable with my current workload haha We really hope that once more info about the 805 is out, plus images, people will really appreciate the work we have put in. I've seen a few comments about why we didn't x train instead and all I will say is, we have chosen to take an approach with trains by taking it in small steps. This allows us to perfect our craft in each area before taking on a fully new train, trust me, trains are a very complex task in itself. I hope this helps a little and expect more soon!
Thank you to all of your dev team, I think I can speak for myself and many others on consoles (PS5 myself), when saying this is really exciting and welcomed news. Not only because of the extensive timetable, but the work that's gone into the WCMLS timetable that will completely overhaul the route, and done so by some experts in the community who have probably put blood sweat and tears into putting it together. I was absolutely over the moon when I read the timetable that will be accompanying the Class 805. The Class 805 itself will be a lovely and exciting edition to the game for us proper railway anoraks! I know it's been a highly sought after unit, as people have been reskinning the existing 5 Car 801, so to have the real McCoy with all its bells and whistles will make a lot of players, including myself, very happy and it will add to the diversity of rolling stock on WCMLS and really bring it to life. This is giving WCMLS the timetable it always deserved and I am so grateful for your work and getting this timetable out to us console users. I had begun to lose hope for WCMLS but this is such welcome news and I can't wait to see it in action. Not only that but your team really are making a name for yourselves with the amount of superb work in the pipeline! Excited for all of your work, and I can assure you I'll certainly be a day one customer. I can really sense the passion and detail from just the screenshots I've seen on the Birmingham - Crewe route and I'm sure this will match! One point I can never understand about people who are moaning about the 8xx EMUs, is that their seems to be an assumption they are all the same. To some extent, yes they are, but each subclass does have distinguishing features, the 805/807 are good examples of this. HST sub classes share about the same differences and no one seems to call that out when the matter arises. Also Southern Region Slamdoor EMUs were very similar to each other, but had distinctive features that give them their own class. The Class 805 and the Class 802 for that matter are no exception, they may share the same body shell, but each TOCs specifications will be different.
As a console player, I’d like to thank you very much for taking something like mods into strong consideration for us, and hopefully give us a more enjoyable player experience.
Maybe if they do a Crewe to Liverpool route as that's is Avanti main rolling stock allocation on the Liverpool to Euston services
Not confirmed yet, although if the new timetable doesn't work on Gen 8 it simply won't release for Gen 8
