That's only on porn, and other adult stuff, this game has a rating of E, it's as benign as you can get...... If wrong I'm sure better informed people will let us know shortly......
I highly doubt it. I mean we can’t even use words which contain subs of minor offensive words in scenario editor, let alone images of couples or groups doing what comes naturally (or in some cases, unnaturally)!
Funnily enough, I got an email from Xbox yesterday saying that in order to continue using social features (party chats and xbox messages) after early 2026 I'll have to verify my age. But then I never actually use these features myself, I only see not doing so as an absolute win. My ID doesn't get uploaded and at risk of being stolen by hackers, and I never have to deal with wierd Xbox messages trying to get me to click certain links (that definitely aren't a virus, phising or malware) to join chatrooms...
I've had no such communication from them, presumably as my XBox account is old enough to legally drink in the US.
No it’s purely British paranoia, stemming from a government desire to send us back to the 1970’s and 1980’s when the only way you could get hold of porn was to visit one of those seedy little “Marital Aids” shops with the blacked out windows and emerge with an imported Danish or Swedish magazine in a brown paper bag. Not that I speak from experience on such matters of course…
My point was that a simple explanation for MS not having mentioned this in any communications to me, also a citizen of this here Demented Kingdom, would be that Microsoft already KNOW I am verified as being over a certain age, as I have been using their services for over two decades, which probably explains them not approaching me over it. They can already see I've been consistently using a bank card in my own name for that long to buy stuff from them, and therefore my not being a minor is a known factor. Not many toddlers were purchasing Windows 7 keys with a University discount back in the day.
Don't want to go down the road of getting into a controversial argument over this but it looks a little like "big brother 1984" over reach by the government, don't in principle see a game like TSW ever coming into trouble , however even though it's a bug in the game were cars cross in front and you get npcs jumping off bridges and platforms, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this came under the spotlight ,sounds a bit crazy but as I say wouldn't put it past them
In that respect, not saying how I know, but the PEGI people seemed quite unconcerned that a game that allows the player avatar to freely wander on a simulated live railway is quite okay with a “3” (age) rating.
More likely, given the fact that this bill was pushed by the strain of politicians with a proclivity for being "Friends of Jeffrey", the main thing TSW would wind up targeted for is Sherman Hill, since the primary underhanded point of bills like this, with of course, mass surveillance and potential blackmail of citizens a handy bonus, is at its core to cut off vulnerable children from access to support resources which make them less vulnerable to exploitation. Anything which remotely signifies support for that kind of accepting and welcoming culture is therefore the sort of thing invariably considered "unfit for children" under these kinds of laws.
