I have the issue aswell but for the 250 objectives and the 643km so i also made a ticket to support about it its getting real annoying now
At least it's an issue that they can and will fix for you. And mind you, the counter still works in the background, it just doesn't show. So you don't have to postpone the grind
Well the walking distance and objective data seemed to kick back in with the runs I did yesterday, so hopefully the missing bits from Day 1 will get added back in by Support.
I don't know. At the end I ended up with 24, and I checked all of the buckets again (with an online guide), so no idea which one actually doesn't trigger.
Progress trickling (literally, in the rainy runs!) along nicely. Going through my back catalogue of routes and Journey modes to find runs that can be done in the rain. There’s a couple on ECW including a nice quick ECS movement at Brighton which also ticks off a bit of walking as you change ends. Now doing a Seaford to Brighton service which will clear some of the objective requirements. Once the rain and objectives are done, can head back on to my usual WCMLoS, ECML and Mittenwald to clear the mileage and finish up the walking.
Have to say, think the walking objective has rather ruined this month’s campaign. Even after racking up 0.7 miles in that rather silly CCN scenario where the driver has to keep leaving the train to place decorations, still less than halfway there. I play TSW to drive trains where any required walking is only absolutely essential. IMHO, should have been no more than 2 miles or 3 km. I would rather the objectives had been doubled to 500, given how easy it is to polish them off with a few bus stop runs, or Conductor when it works properly.
I think it’s best to leave at least one route without collecting any route collectibles — just for cases like this
Fortunately this time there are no collectibles, the problem actually bring not to activate them when walking up and down platforms. I have stumbled upon one way to role play the walking a little bit better. With a loco hauled (slam door) train or old DMU at stations turn yourself into the Guard/platform staff. Instead of just activating doors from the cab, exit on to the platform and walk down the side of the train and open the doors manually. Wait for the prompt to close and walk back slamming them manually. Makes the train late and you get the pesky message pop up about giving up control, but repeat that four or five times on a 250m long train and you can get the target done without aimless wandering.
Another month done then, a bit of a drag towards the end this time round TBH. Mainly the walking, just got tedious and IMHO future challenges should focus on what the core of the game is all about, i.e. driving. Bit burned out on TSW now, so off to do some farming or some snowrunning for the time being.
yeah only September is left now maybe from October and onwards they add a tier 2 etc or they just stop after September and do something completely different
I think it needs better rewards than just a sticker I'm not going to see. Discount codes for content would be great. Maybe have a prize draw on the first of the month. You get entered if you completed the previous month's mastery. Win a free route download. Oh, and keep the stickers for those that like them.
Good suggestion. They are not going to want to give everyone who completes it a gift voucher (though even £1 would be nice) but some sort of draw for those who complete it, £5 first prize, £3 second and £1 should easily be accomplished from the money they make off us.
Anyone care to take guess at what the challenges will be tomorrow OldVern you always have some good ideas.
Having a think about it. I’m guessing AP/XP will be back this time, along with collectibles. Maybe 10 timetables or scenarios in the autumn.
I really hope this monthly adventure continues for TSW 6 and beyond. Had to really put my foot down this week to make the August mileage target, as I was on holiday for 3 weeks. Thank god for Kassel-Würzburg
Anyone remember the 1.000 mile target from January? I would like to have a crack at something like that again!
So, another grind for conductor mode... The other things are pretty much straightforward and require no extra effort, so that's nice
I did the usual "Save before pressing the buzzer" final objective rinse and repeat 9 times for this one! I just have the 400 miles left to go now.
I really don’t get the obsession with Conductor mode, it’s a very niche part of the game when 95% of us want to be in the cab, or external view, thrashing the motive power. So yes it looks like it will be the exploit to get that part done. The rest is fairly easy.
Look on the bright side, at least we don’t have to do any walking or try to find collectibles we haven’t already done…
Does that work? It's not that I hate conductor mode, I just end up with my head poking out of the roof unable to move half the time.
MAC has a few conductor services on the Pendolino that don't take long and usually work. Just save near the end and repeat.
I use the Fyfe one, very short, but my head ends up in the roof, I think it might just be this train?
You also have the Lancaster to Morecambe runs on WCMLoS which are around 12 minutes. I was also wondering if there are any just Queen Street to Bute Road (sorry Cardiff Bay) runs on CCN as they would literally be over in 3 or 4 minutes.
Thanks for that. Guess it’s save scumming Morecambe to Lancaster, then. Though for the next few evenings I’m sort of testing SimRail single player mode to see if improvements they made to the alpha save game are working.
Do you plan on pre ordering with early access? So you have more than one day (or rather: six hours) to complete it? ;-)
Plan on having mine done long before TSW6. After all, will the mastery progress go across from 5 to 6 or will 6 even feature the monthly mastery?
Mastery seems to be independent from game edition. I did play some TSW4 several months ago, and it counted towards mastery progress.
I finally tried the conductor thing, always ignored it to this point. Although I managed to clip all the tickets, I found the whole process so tedious, I'm unlikely to ever do it again! Not much into walking the tracks either, or collecting fluffy toys etc. Guess I'll stick to driving trains and sadly miss out on achievements, medals, scores, masteries and those colorful stickers. ( where do you put them, by the wsy? On your suitcase, car bumper? Just curious.
Well if a supervisor had given me a high five after I punched the last ticket, I might feel differently.
