Locomotive Name & Model: BR Class 56/1 (Nicknamed Grids) Country/Region: UK (Original ones were built in Romania but had poor build quality, the /1s were all built in Doncaster and Crewe, UK) Operator(s): British Rail (as of 1986) Type: Diesel Locomotive Era/Years in Service: Entered service in 1976, gameplay would be set during 1986 for Preston to Crewe. Top Speed: 80mph Power Output: 3,250hp Notable Features: Heavy Freight locomotive designed for coal and steel transports. Paxman engine provides great thrash. Routes: Preston to Crewe for the Coal trains as well as Over Shap for long freight runs. The Class 56 was the backbone of UK Heavy Freight before the Class 60 came onto the scene in 1990. It's powerful engine and iconic status make it appealing to every UK freight fan. It was the first heavy freight loco built for air brake-only operation. These powerful units were the workhorses between the 80s and 90s. Liveries would be BR Blue, BR Blue with large logo and a few 56's were painted in Railfreight Grey as sectorisation began. In Summary this would make for a great addition to Preston to Crewe as it was often seen pulling heavy coal trains in the region and would be the first new BR Diesel locomotive since the Class 20 for Tees Valley Line.
Both Electroputere and BREL versions would be great, not to mention the several variations of the Railfreight grey livery. This class is long overdue.
