Some shots of the former Salisbury Railway Station Used By Great Western Railway 1856 - 1991 (this was publicly accessible, I was not trespassing.)
Episode 500 of Kilmarnock getting everything Here’s 150128 heading to Brodies just west of the station to pick up 150218 and take it back down south later today!
125 group HST set with 43159 'Rio Warrior' and 43060 passing near to me this morning (30th August). 1Z62 Crewe - Great Yarmouth for the Retro Broadsman Railtour. Also passing just minutes later in the opposite direction was 1Z52 which was 57313 and 57315 with the Northern Belle set pass on The Settle and Carlisle special from Hull to Carlisle.
Let’s play a game who got the signal first? The convoy of 3 57s and a 47 that is now 54 minutes late after performing a runaround due to a loco fault Or! HA05 and 67025!
With the DB BR 101 my favourite it was a very pleasant surprise to still see a couple in real-life - almost three years since last time for me. Ironically, this wasn't in Germany but at Switzerland's Basel Bad Bf (although the station is operated by DB) and just approximately 1km south of the German border. All pictures taken by me
Some more pictures of my trip to the lovely city of Basel in Switzerland. A very unique place being on the Swiss, French and German borders. All pictures taken by me Basel Bad Bf Continued...
I was at 'Terug naar Toen' Steamtrainfestival in Beekbergen and Loenen today. The Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij celebrated there 50 year anniversary with a very special thing... 10 (!) engines...people...crazy!
Back at Eastleigh got to meet some people I hadn't seen in a while with some torrential downpour and I also got to see 34028 Eddystone on it's first passenger run since 1964.
The MBTA in Boston has repainted one of their F40's into a very handsome Boston & Maine heritage scheme... https://www.trains.com/pro/mechanic...-introduces-boston-maine-heritage-locomotive/
With the handle fully open after receiving the shunt signal into Brodies to pick up a northern 319 37884 roars to life departing Killie
I recently took my first trip to Scotland and had the chance to spend a day in Aviemore to visit the Strathspey Railway. The train was hauled by Black 5 No. 5025, which is apparently the oldest surviving LMS Class 5. I've got to admit, it’s great to see some of the locos you only know from TSW in action, especially when they’re foreign ones!
The Metro-North Charger has officially entered revenue service! I'll be at the New Haven Open House in a couple weeks, I'm hoping they'll have one on display there.
After running railtours in the UK for 52 years, Pathfinder Railtours has announced that in December they will close operations. The company states that this is due to retirement. https://www.railadvent.co.uk/2025/09/pathfinder-railtours-announces-closure.html
No surprise with the amount of caped tours in recent years, shame though given the number of outrageous tours they have ran.
I wasn’t but I just made something! Sure it isn’t that good and it was a little rushed, but I’m proud of it Here it is:
A much more rateable 37 in the form of 37688 seen at Whitby on the NYMR (The real spotters know /6s over /4s)
Well, I was supposed to go out to Boonton, NJ yesterday for their Railroad Museum for a Day, but didn't realize the Morristown Line was shut until I got down to Penn Station. I'm not sure what you all are doing on the virtual route, but it's screwing with the real one! lol Wife and I ended up just gallivanting around Manhattan for a bit, and I did grab a couple of photos from my travels.
