It’s a challenging brake system for sure. Make sure to make a service application then put it in lap to maintain that application. I’ve always wondered why NJ Transit would use this type of (I think) older braking system on a commuter line requiring fairly precise station stops over and over again. On the other hand I bet it’s second nature to the pros operating these trains IRL.

I did a Bit of ChatGPT digging on how this system is used and one thing I didn’t realize was that it’s perfectly normal to use some brake release if you over brake when approaching a station to reduce the brakes slightly. Normally in a freight you would not do a partial release but on these trains it’s ok, which helps adjust the braking I to stations.

The primary reason some roads (especially commuter RR) still used manually-lapped systems is precisely that: they can be partially released. auto-lapped 26L has to be released completely and reset.

The 12 kV variant of the Arrow III is also needed. All the screenshots indicate they’re only making the 25 kV variant.

they should definitely redo the Northeast Corridor penn station-trenton cause that was the worst letdown route of tsw in history. the terminal doesn't even look like the terminal at all, especially for Penn station and Newark Penn Station.

Would love to see both the Arrow and ALP-45 get substitution capabilities in NYT. (Can't put the Arrows as an option for the 6xxx series, though! Can't voltage change on the fly!) What they could do with layers is add the diesel-hauled Raritan Valley trains (54xx, 57xx) with the ALP-45. They could also edit the existing timetable so that the 51xx and 33xx series trains always have the dual-modes, rather than the ALP-46.

I suspect they will be an article next week before the stream. It should mentioned if there's is freight layer for Morristown.

The Morristown doesn’t see any freight trains. The South Kearney rail yard is for CSX trains to going to Selkirk via the River Subdivision and points South like Philly it doesn’t interact with the Morristown line

you are correct. however, the tracks are visible on the map and would be visible from the cab

Just as a note, there was freight seen on the Morristown line with regards to Morristown and Erie operations to local businesses. In the 2000s I used to see M&E equipment often moving through summit to Morristown and it was always a nice “surprise”. Recently they have “borrowed” a NJ transit GP38/40 to help with operations, but they went from 20+ clients down to only a couple in recent years. With that said, there are still operations near the Morristown line, maybe those could be represented in some way, even if it is a CSX livery doing it. I’m interested to see what they do with any freight possibilities if nothing else, to see them rarely drive by on a run!

Feel like freight for Morristown will be at most, static cars trying to add life into the CSX and NS intermodal yards on the eastern end of the route, though DTG could add AI switching moves, like how UP operated in LATC for The San Bernardino Line.

I dont think the route offers enough for a playable layer though.
