I was wondering if we are supposed to keep or uninstall too. This will be my first time. That and I hope we have more save slots too.

 

+1 on whether it will be necessary to keep the original Dresden to Riesa clogging up file space.

Does the excellent 218 put in an appearance on the expanded route as a layer choice on timetabled services?

How big is the Journey mode and what elements are therein?

 

Are there special services in the timetable that are not part of the official DB timetable (railtours, etc)? If so, which are specifically included and what DLC are required to activate them?

Are there more involved timetable services that are interconnected? Example: you drive a freight train from A to B. Then a shunting service picks up, does something with the freight. Another freight service couples to the new freight train and brings it to C.

Are there seasonal services that are only active during specific months?

Do freight trains have to wait in loops and will be overtaken?

Do you ensure that you never need to close the doors BEFORE the signal can turn green? As in: have all unload/load actions dispatch beyond activated? It is not okay in Germany to close the doors of passenger services before the signal allows to proceed. So it must be able to turn away from red (Hp0) while standing without closing the doors. If it is red you would know: something is still blocking the path and you need to wait as opposed to "you need to close the doors to advance".

Why is the included 363 again in the old blue DBB livery and not in the appropriate Railion livery?

 

"Appropriate" is not the correct meaning. In 2018 they have blue cream versions in service. The same for the BR294 they are in service in this livery as well. Not very often but they have it.

And to everyone who is using 2025 as an example..... This route is set back in 2018 so 8 years ago.

 

I would like you to spend some minutes just watching the kind of traffic that we will see at key locations like Dresden, Leipzig, Riesa and one of the busiest cargo yards.

In fact, I'm thinking it would be a good idea to make some of those accelerated time videos where we could see what happens in a day in 2 minutes.

 

I assume they'll publish a detailed post tomorrow or Wednesday, showing various things ahead of the stream. Especially regarding the station announcements and the layers present along the route. The layers for Leipzig Dresden haven't been revealed yet, so that will definitely be shared in an upcoming post

 

You’re right, “appropriate” isn’t really the best word for it. I know a few were in the blue DBB colour scheme in 2018 (emphasis on few), but it really hurts the realism when almost every 363 you come across is in that livery instead of the far more common Railion one.

 

I'm counting on that and for sure I will carefully read the list of layers, but that doesn't make a video showing the timetable in action less exciting.

Correct, but it’s not unheard of for them to reuse a DLC loco/unit for a route (like the Class 465), and I really don’t think anyone would mind since the experience would be better for everyone that buys TSW6. I say this as someone who owns the red 363. Alternatively, the layer could just be linked to the red one instead.

 

In 2018? No. 20 years after Orientrot, no. Ozeanblau was long gone (especially since in the years between 1987 and 2018 all the 365>363s were re-engined, and any works overhaul means a repaint). The livery DTG chose to use, for some reason, is that of a unique museum loco located in Aachen belonging to AIXrail (real number 3363 036-5): .

The reason rather is commercial: the red Railion shunter was a paid DLC, and DTG didn't want to offend people by including the "same" engine with a route. Still, it's jarring to see it anywhere but TSG's vintage routes (where it's actually a 365)

 

Yes, then you're talking about small changes like "remote radio control" or other minor differences that distinguish the versions. Essentially, the locomotive is the same, just with a few extras or an updated engine now and then. I was obviously referring to the V60 type. Most people here don't even know the differences between the versions. There are so many subseries of the V60.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I was just looking at the pictures of the 363 that DTG refers to, and I think the 363 in-game is actually a 365, because it has remote-controlled radio support.

 

I have two questions.

1. why did you dont build a 5 Coaches BR442? This one is dirving the Route Daily..

2. why did you build Routes in a 2000er era? Is it a Problem with Licensing? In UK you have a lot of license.. in germany only DB… this is very Bad

 

The problem doesn’t lie with DTG alone... If you want a license from a carrier, it really does require two parties, and if one of them refuses to cooperate, then it’s simply a dead end.

 

A 363 is a former 365 with the original MAN diesel replaced with a Caterpillar.

 

And if you look carefully at the frame rails, I bet you'll see its real number is different from the one on the grille and cab side, and the owner is not DB. Aha! Yes. 98 80 3365 395-6 D AVOLL belongs to the Aggerbahn, a heritage/leasing railway. Not a DB locomotive. (If it were, the old Bundesbahn Kekse would have been replaced with the DBAG one)

Fair but this going nowhere... The question was if there are blue cream v60 around in 2018 for doing services. So yes so its not fully unrealistic to spot them. If its a DB version or not was not mentioned in my answer.

It's not the only blue/beige 363 these days though. AIXrail aren't the only private operator who put their old ex-DB locomotives in vintage DB liveries. And yes, for revenue service, not as museum locos! DB also doesn't use 363s in all that many places any more. I've never seen a DB red 363 in Dresden or Leipzig! That means that the vintage Bundesbahn livery, implying a private operator, is in fact much more appropriate than DB Verkehrsrot.

It's true that we've got a bunch of identical blue/beige 363s at this point though, and it would be nice to switch it up... I would like to see the other vintage Bundesbahn liveries at some point. For this route in particular though, PRESS Blue would've been nice. Several PRESS blue 363s are stationed at Leipzig Hbf, and do all the shunting there in real life.

 

That's what I have been thinking. DTG already seems to have a PRESS license because of the PRESS 155. I'm wondering why they don't use it more often.

One more from me, probably get lost in the noise… But having played several German routes the last few days, will this remaster and extension of Dresden - Riesa address the one major shortcoming of all your German TSW routes? The speed restriction indicated at a signal (e.g. 6 for 60 km/h), should apply from the signal not where the speed actually changes on the track. i.e. at the junction or points. All other simulations of German rail operations, including Zusi 3 and the German routes in TSC, do this correctly but TSW remains in error.

 

Thing is, the TSW speed limit system doesn't seem to be able to change the speed limit depending on the position of the junction. I remember some older routes where DTG messed up with the speed limit and enforced it no matter the position of the junction, which is a much less immersive experience.
And in a certain sense, this is the correct way of displaying things. The HUD will always show you the track speed, not the signal speed, same goes for American routes. You just have to do what the signal tells you to do.

 

Well I do make a point of obeying the speed from the signal but in some cases that can be several 100 metres from the actual points and as I said if Zusi and TSC can read the signal speed and show correctly on the HUD, why on Earth can’t TSW!

 

Question about signalling: I know the Dresden-Riesa part has some HL signals. Does the Riesa-Leipzig part also have HL signalling?

I never said it wasn’t everywhere else in the world… I was simply saying that when I was in germany they had english announcements too… I could imagine most other countries have the same thing also.

 

Fair! The amount of english supporting announcements are growing and thats a good way. Its not very pleasant when you missed your'e train due to an unknown language

 

Will we see not only train faults, but also Signal faults, where we get a Zs1 for example, or are the train faults exclusive to the Trains?

 

Still can't glean this from the article, but will the low polygon textureless fake placeholder for the GSM-R on the 146 finally be fixed in Dresden-Leipzig?

 

Why no new rolling stock at all?
Why not at least a BR 415 or a 5-car BR 442? Why not at least a new BR 1442, as the Rapid-Transit 1442 has aged very poorly?
Those last 3 could have been done with very little work, and would have at least given us the feeling of giving is something new.
Best we got is a green stripe instead of a red one.

 

What will happen to Riesa - Dresden DLC if i only get free starter pack without Leipzig extension?

 

It has now been clarified in another thread, we will need to keep the original Dresden to Riesa installed so it confers layers on to other German routes, as these cannot be back ported from the new version. DTG, can you accept it is faintly ridiculous to have an obsolete version of the route sat on our menu screen that will never be played, even if we have to find 5 or 6Gb of hard drive space to keep the pak file hanging around. Is there any chance you could get “Engineer” to look at an option to turn off/on unplayed routes in the menu screen as, let’s face it, the chances of ever firing up the original again are remote.

Or better still, sort your code and algorithms so the layers can drop in from the new version and the old can be dispensed with entirely. Otherwise the whole thing looks rather amateurish.

 

I would be interested to see and learn more about temporary speed restriction. Visually we have not actually seen anything in this regard on German content. Would be nice to actually show how they are implemented.

Are you implementing short term temporary speed restrictions (represented by Lf1 to Lf3 signals), or long term TSPs (represented by Lf4 to Lf7 signals)? Or maybe even both?

Also, it would be nice to see how the implementaion was actually done. Are the areas with TSPs manually set up by the devs or is it a more automatic process?! Will we see it only between stations, on a free stretch of track, or are they also possible within stations?!

As we have learned elsewhere, those TSPs will not be PZB protected initially. How long are you planning until PZB magnets for those areas are comming to TSW?!

 

So the expert 101 doesn't layer into this just the original version??

 

I just hope the TSR's have accurate signage, otherwise it'd be a bad look on DTG's part. But we'll see tonight!

 

No! Thats for every new route the same. The 101 Expert is a TSG loco and had nothing todo with DTG. Very likely they will add the 101 Expert when the 145 Expert will come to TSW6

Kilometers, please. If you're referring to the 106km part on the key artwork, that was a mistake as the route is actually 160km long.

 

Well, as someone who enjoys the original Dresden to Riesa route but who doesn't plan on buying the extended version, I certainly wouldn't want to lose the original route or its layering abilities.

However, if there's a way to leave the original DR route undisturbed and make layers from DL available, then fine if you want to dispense with DR entirely.

 

Can you please do the little route introduction and show what journey mode looks like please.
