Are we ever getting a 50 in the game? One of the most popular uk locos of the 70s-90s period with nearly 40pc of them preserved. Their logical home would have been the Riviera line from the 80s or early 90s, so now that has been done for the modern day and their 70s home of the WCML over Shap is in the game set in a post 50 era I can’t see how they can get a home. The 50s have a huge following. Do Just Trains fancy doing Reading-Taunton to get them in the 80s along with a valenta hst? Large logo 50s and valentas alongside the 47s, 45s and 31s already in the game would be a day one purchase for many .
Class 50 Hoovers? Yes, please! Settle & Carlisle would also work for a route w/ Class 50s. A Class 50 was added to Microsoft Train Simulator's S&C route as a free DLC. Hopefully we could get the accurate sucking sound of the unrebuilt units (don't remember what made the sound. Was it the blowers? Someone let me know in the comments), which gave these engines their nickname. By the way, the locos were rebuilt so they no longer had that problem, which got rid of the distinctive sound of these engines.
I was thinking a NSE-era South West Mainline Southampton but with the "Hoovers" going as far as Basingstoke on the Exeter trains. Would also need at least classes 411/2 and 455 - Which I don't think would cause too many complaints. Endless railtour opportunities for the very popular 50s, of which nearly half survived the scrapyard.
Simply must come to TSW. IMHO South Devon would have gone straight to 11 (rather than hovering around 7 or 8), if DTG had chosen to do it in the Classic era and given us a Class 50 instead of a Cucumber.
I think I suggested it a few months ago. Luckily the area hasn't changed too much (aside from a new reinforced sea wall at Dawlish) so a "Legends" pack set around the mid-seventies when 50s were replacing 52s and HSTs were replacing 50s and Peaks were regulars on the Cross Country services would be possible. Though on the DMU side of things it was mostly 117s and 118s on the locals with a smattering of 101s. You might even see a really shabby-looking 47 still sporting its green livery.
Yes, by the mid to late 70s they seemed to be popping-up all over the place. Norwich, Gatwick Airport, I've even seen a photo of one at Paddington. It would be great to see them, especially the Swindon cross-country units, in TSW.
Waterloo - Basingstoke. Reading - Taunton. Exeter - Salisbury. So many routes that could work for the 50. Come on Dovetail. Give the people what they want!
Nice suggestions, but as you said...there's nowhere for it to run currently, and I don't see Just Trains going to Cornwall. At best you'll get DTG or Rivet to do it (which is probably still Rivet subcontracted) But, if that's what it takes to get Reading-Tauton.... go for it.
