Hey everyone, returning back fo train simulator this week for the first time in about 5 years. I sorry if this has been asked already, out of interest what is the longest continuous UK route in train simulator? Cheers Halil
Probably London - Penzance 305 miles if you buy the Just Trains Western Mainline Collection as it is one route. There is an East Coast Merge but you need but buy different routes and put them together https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/train-simulator-classic-2024_940885#6/53.094/-0.923
DTG's Test-track route. It's circular, so infinite length! Though it's not clear what country it's based in as it uses generic scenery assets. The Glasgow Subway route is also circular and that's definitely in the UK. Just Trains Western Mainline is the longest I'm aware of, though really it's a collection of linked routes. The longest single commercial DLC I know of is West Highland South, which is well over 100 miles.
Hi Halil, Bear in mind size isn't alwayss everything! If you want to run realistic levels of AI traffic to see during your journey, you will probably need to break it into bite-sized chunks anyway. Best regards, John
Except it is not one route - you have to purchase multiple routes and then combine them it is based on the test Track at Wildenrath in Germany - ignoring the connection to the main line it is not far out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wegberg-Wildenrath_Test_and_Validation_Centre
We can argue. In my opinion it is definitely a route as it has it's own route ID: bd6b8a4f-35cc-4f44-ba07-7a3b1cd56cbf The claim is: 393 miles of driving between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley
Also there are some really long routes in Europe - RSSLO has several Combine Sudbahn - 235 km Combine Western Austria - 350 km Combine Linz - Inglostadt - 300 km Combine Ljubljana - Salzburg - 365 km Denmark has 2 huge routes (mainly Free Roam) Jylland and Sjaelland - both may have 1000+km of network!
