I wanted to recreate part of the Greatest Gathering that took place at Derby in August as part of the Railway 200 celebrations. Route: Midland Mainline, Sheffield - Derby Locos: Class 390, Class A4 Pacific, BR Class 50 and Merchant Navy Class 35028.In reality 50049 was in pristine condition, but there's no model for that! This was the line-up I wanted to recreate:
The Skerne Bridge (Darlington) has 200 years of railway history and is the oldest railway bridge in use in the world. Part of the Stockton to Darlington Railway, it opened to public traffic on the 27th September 1825 and has been in continual use ever since. It is now a Grade 1 listed building. Route: Weardale and Teesdale Network route. Loco: BR Class 24 P.S. The oldest 'railway' bridge in the world is the Causey Arch (1726) built for a coal wagonway in County Durham that used wooden rails, but it's no longer in use.
